Posamezne oblike in ustvarjalni na~ini nas povezujejo tudi z drugimi podobnimi oblikami v bli`nji in daljni sose{~ini, ustvarjalnost narodov in ljudstev na drugih kontinentih pa odpira mo`nosti za primerjave in nova spoznanja. V vseh primerih imamo opraviti z oblikami, ki so se kot ina~ice nekih starej{ih (za~etnih) oblik razvijale vse do dana{njih dni in se ohranile kot `ivi muzej zgodovinskega spomina ali `ivo nadaljevanje nekega prej{njega (prvotnega) ustvarjanja. Vendar pa instrumentalna in vokalna glasbena dedi{~ina vstopa v na{ sodobni svet {e na en na~in: kot ustvarjalni motiv in iskanje na podro~ju sodobnega glasbenega iskanja in ustvarjalnosti. Pravzaprav imamo opraviti s pojavom, ki naj bi bil splo{no zna~ilen za vsa na{a sre~anja z dedi{~ino v sodobnem svetu. Torej ne le ponavljanje zgodovinskega spomina, temve~ v enaki ali {e ve~ji meri tudi ustvarjanje novih oblik. Vsem tem izhodi{~em sledi Etno festival OKARINA, ki raz{irja svojo dejavnost in pojavnost tudi v {tevilne kraje Slovenije. Menim, da je to nad vse dobrodo{la odlo~itev, saj tako majhen in hkrati kulturno ter vsebinsko tako velik prostor, kot je Slovenija, dobiva rde~o nit poletnega dogajanja tudi na tem podro~ju. Etno festival na eni strani seznanja z lokalnim, na drugi pa bogati z mednarodnim. Torej imamo opraviti s sestavljenim, vendar znotraj povezanim modelom do`ivljanja duhovne ustvarjalnosti, ki ima seveda svoje funkcijske, modelne in strukturalne vezi z dru`benim in gmotnim kontekstom. Prav slednjega predstavljajo {tevilne dejavnosti, ki jih organizatorji OKARINA etno festivala posku{ajo predstavljati kot vzporedne dogodke. Vendar bi bilo zmotno, ~e bi jih razumeli le kot nekak{ne vzporedne programske dodatke. Razumeti jih moramo kot sestavine okvirov oziroma prikazov `ivljenjskih slogov, ki jih sooblikujejo razli~ne sestavine, od pevskih in instrumentalnih, do prikazov mojstrovin doma~e obrti, kulture kulinarike, {eg in navad. Konec koncev se nobena stvar v `ivljenju tudi danes ne odvija lo~ena od drugih ali z drugimi besedami: vse je z vsem povezano, vsak predmet ima svoj kontekst v dru`benem in duhovnem `ivljenju in vsaka {ega ima tudi svoje gmotne oblike. Morda se bo prenekateri udele`encev ve~erov in koncertov v okviru OKARINA etno festivala spominjal svojih mladih let, ko smo vsi skupaj opazovali gosi, kako so odhajale k va{ki mlaki, potoku ali reki. Ponosni gosji vratovi in predvsem njihovi zibajo~i se podolgasti trupi spominjajo na podobo tradicionalne pi{~ali okarine. In to mednarodno ime za splo{no znano glinasto pi{~al je izvedeno prav iz italijanske besede oca in pomeni gosko. Okarino kot pi{~al je izumil G. Donati v letih in v Italiji so jo uporabljali odrasli kot pustno pi{~alko. Od tod se je raz{irila tudi po drugih evropskih de`elah. Pri nas so jo od za~etka 20. stoletja do druge svetovne vojne izdelovali zlasti {tajerski lon~arji. Kratek sprehod po zgodovini imena festivala, ki je hkrati ime znamenitega glasbila in tudi kakovostne gostilne na Bledu. Torej tudi z imenom festivala dokazujemo na{o vpetost v evropska kulturna dogajanja in ustvarjanja. prof. dr. Janez Bogataj, Filozofska fakulteta, Univerza v Ljubljani Instrumental and vocal music heritage brings forth the wealth and richness of Slovenia. Individual types of music and creative methods link us to other similar forms that developed in our near and far surroundings; on the other hand, the creativity of the nations and peoples on other continents opens up endless possibilities of comparison and new considerations. In all cases, these creative types have been developing as variants of some earlier (initial) forms till the present day and have been preserved to exist as a living museum of historical memory and vibrant continuation of a prior (original) creative effort. Still, the heritage of instrumental and vocal music enters our contemporary world in another way: as an original motive and search related to modern musical quest for creativity. What we are faced with is a phenomenon which is supposedly typical of all our encounters with the heritage in the modern world. Not a mere reemergence of a historical memory but rather a creation of new forms to the same, or even higher, extent. All these basic requirements are met at the OKARINA Ethno Festival, which is expanding its activities and presence to many Slovenian towns. I firmly believe that it is a most welcome solution as it provides the small yet culturally and contextually diverse territory of Slovenia with the red thread of the country s summer music events. The ethno festival introduces the local component and enriches it with an international hue. Overall, the festival is a complex, but internally consistent, model of experiences related to spiritual creativity which is functionally and structurally tied to the concept of the society and materiality. The element of materiality is met by numerous activities which OKARINA organizers stage and promote as accompanying events. It would, however, be wrong to assume that these are a kind of parallel event supplements. On the contrary, they function as pieces of the frame, i.e. presentations of lifestyles shaped by a mix of factors, from singing and instrumental to demonstrations of arts and crafts, culinary culture, customs and habits. After all, nothing in life, not even today, revolves in a complete isolation from other things or in other words: everything is connected to everything else, every thing has its context in the social and spiritual life, and every custom has its material form. Many of the visitors to the OKARINA musical evening or concert may remember their young years when we would all watch geese wandering about to a village pond, stream, or river. Their graceful necks and swaying bodies are reminiscent of the shape of the traditional ocarina flute. The international term ocarina used to denote a clay flute derives from the Italian word oca, meaning little goose. The ocarina flute was invented by G. Donati in the years and was initially used in Italy by adults as a carnival whistle. From Italy, the instrument has spread to other European countries. In Slovenia, it was first produced at the beginning of the 20th century mainly by potters from [tajerska. This was a short walk down the history of the festival name, which is also the name of a famous instrument and an excellent restaurant in Bled. The Okarina Ethno Festival is therefore just another proof of how deep are our ties the European cultural events and creative efforts. 3 Petek / Friday BANDA DO PELO Brazilija / Brazil Skupina Banda do Pelô v svetu dostojno predstavlja prvobitno in avtenti~no glasbo Bahie, kjer danes utripa srce brazilske mestne glasbene scene. Bahia je sinonim za nov glasbeni `anr, ki povezuje tradicionalno in moderno glasbo z vplivi Afri~anov kot prvotnih prebivalcev Brazilije, ki na originalen na~in zdru`uje glasbo afri{kih verskih kultov, Candomble, afri{ko sambo, bosso novo, brazilsko glasbeno tradicijo, axé-music, in morda {e kaj. Zasedba, ki u`iva velik ugled na doma~i in mednarodni glasbeni sceni, je v zadnjih letih posnela ve~ glasbenih projektov v studiu, oddaj in koncertov v `ivo. Banda do Pelô je del nove afri{ko-bahijske glasbene scene: sestavljajo jo glasbeniki, pevci, plesalci capoeire, vsi po rodu iz Salvadorja de Bahie. Pelourinho je star del mesta, kjer je v preteklosti potekalo trgovanje s su`nji, ki so jih pripeljali iz Afrike, danes pa je postal simbol celotnega mesta Salvador. Banda do Pelô tu navdu{uje s svojimi fantasti~nimi nastopi, ki aktivno vklju~ujejo poslu{alstvo in ljudi navdu{ujejo s preprostostjo, odlo~nimi tolkalskimi vlo`ki ter poliritmijo, tako zna~ilnimi za brazilsko-afri{ko kulturo. S skupino Banda do Pelô so sodelovali in snemali `e mnogi slavni glasbeniki: Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Jorge Benjor, Gal Costa, Daniela Mercury, Carlinhos Brown, Geronimo, Margareth Menezes, Touquinho, Lany Coryell, Billy Cobham, Pino Daniele, Lucio Dail. S Caetanom Velosom in Luciom Dallom so Banda do Pelô nastopili v televizijski oddaji RAI UNO Te vojo bene assaje, z velikanom Carlinhosom Brownom so imeli koncert v nem{kem mestu Mettnam in v {vicarskem Montreuxu. Leta 2001 so igrali na jazz festivalu v Amsterdamu, se spet vrnili na jazz festival v Montreux, na Veneto Jazz Network pa nastopali s Herbiejem Hancockom. Banda do Pelô je s svojo glasbo navdu{ila poslu{alce po vsem svetu: v Braziliji, [vici, Avstriji, Franciji, Angliji, Belgiji, Nem~iji, na Portugalskem, ^e{kem, Danskem, Nizozemskem, Mad`arskem, Kubi, Korziki, Poljskem, v Sloveniji, Egiptu, [paniji ter na Zelenortskih otokih. The Band of the musical genre with her a wealth of original and authentic traditional music of Bahia. The Band of the hair is the new genre of traditional music and modern with all the influence in the African, indigenous people of Brazil. The Bahia is now the heart of the city music scene in Brazil. With all its originality of the influence of the religious cult of African origin, of Candomblé, the african-samba, the bossa-nova and Brazilian music throughout, until the axé-music. Jazz Festival and Melkweg in Amsterdam, in 2001, returned again to Montreux, Jazz Festival, also in Veneto Jazz Network with Herbie Hancock. The Band of the hair, has concerts and festival around the world, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, England, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Czech republic, Denmark, Holland, Slovenia, Hungary, Egypt, Greece, Cuba, Córsica, Poland, Spain and Cap Verde Sobota / Saturday BOLLYWOOD PANDITS Indija / India Leta 1994 ustanovljena skupina Bollywood Pandits je v Londonu in Zdru`enem kraljestvu hitro postala najpreprepoznavnej{i predstavnik in interpret Bollywooda kot glasbene oblike. Skupina igra razli~ne zvrsti in sloge indijske glasbe od ljudske glasbe in klasikov bollywooda do glasbe bhangra. Skupina, ki se na festivalskih odrih po~uti kot doma, je nastopala po vsem svetu, od londonskega Trafalgarskega trga do Rde~ega trga v Moskvi. Redno igrajo tudi na presti`nih dogodkih, kot je na primer vsakoletna slovesnost v po~astitev ustanovitve Britanske skupnosti narodov (Commonwealth Day), odprtje razstave Universal Pictures Cine Expo, slovesnost ob obisku ministra za turizem iz Omana, podelitev nagrad Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards in razli~ni dogodki BBC-ja. Founded in 1994, Bollywood Pandits has become the foremost exponent of Bollywood in its musical form in London and the UK and have been performing a wide range of Indian music in a range of styles, from Indian Folk and soul-shaking Bollywood classics to Bhangra. No stranger to the festival platform, the band has performed across the world from London s Trafalgar Square to Moscow s Red Square. The band also performs regularly at high profile events such as for Her Majesty The Queen of Britain and Prince Charles for The Commonwealth Day, Universal pictures Cine Expo, Ministry of Tourism Oman, Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards, BBC and many more. Founding member Kiran Thakrar is a multi-award-winning accomplished producer and Bollywood collaborator who have performed with some of the biggest names in world of music like Belbel Gilberto at MOBO Awards ceremony, Legendary Late Nusarahat Fatehalikhan, Bollywood film Music Directors Nadeem Shravan & Ravindra Jain and many more. Anu Shukla - The lead singer and artistic director of the band who has also won awards in Kenya and Briton and has collaborated with world famous icons like German band Dissidenten and American RnB superstar Ginuwine. Nedelja / Sunday POLKAHOLIX Nem~ija / Germany POLKAHOLIX je polka/rock skupina iz Berlina, ki je bila ustanovljena leta Skupina je ponovno o`ivila berlinsko tradicijo polke, seveda na popolnoma samosvoj na~in. Polkaholix igrajo razli~ne glasbene `anre: ska, balkansko glasbo, ljudsko glasbo, salso in klezmer. Njihov prvi album Denkste se je povzpel med prvih dvajset na glasbeni lestvici WORLD MUSIC CHARTS EUROPE. Nominiran je bil tudi za nem{ko glasbeno nagrado, v kategoriji svetovne glasbe. Leta 2005 so bili Polkaholix nominirani tudi za nagrado Ruth v kategoriji lokalne ljudske glasbe. (Glasbeno nagrado Ruth podeljujejo v kategorijah ljudske glasbe, kantavtorjev in svetovne glasbe.) POLKAHOLIX is a polka/rock band from Berlin, Germany. Founded in 2001 they have re-animated the Polka tradition of Berlin, understandably in their own way. The band plays many different genres such as Ska, Balkanmusik, Folk, Salsa und Klezmer. The POLKAHOLIX debut CD Denkste was in the top twenty of the WORLD MUSIC CHARTS EUROPE. The POLKAHOLIX CD was nominated for the German Music Award (category world music). POLKAHOLIX got a nomination for the Ruth 2005 (category local roots). ( Ruth is the award for folk, singersongwriter and world music in Germany.) Torek / Tuesday - na Blejskem gradu / Bled castle NATIONAL YOUTH CHOIR Norve{ka / Norway Norve{ki nacionalni mladinski zbor sta leta 1987 ustanovila Joar Rørmark and Carl Høgset, ki je bil tudi stalni dirigent zbora in njegov umetniski vodja do leta Vsako poletje zdru`i ta projektni sestav 40 odli~nih pevcev, starih od 16 do 26 let, s cele Norve{ke. Program zbora sestavljajo temeljna dela evropske zborovske ustvarjalnosti iz obdobja romanticizma, sodobne zborovske skladbe ter ljudsko izro~ilo Norve{ke in tujih narodov. Od svojega nastanka dalje je zbor reden gost priznanih mednarodnih festivalov in tekmovanj, na katerih je osvojil {tevilna zlata priznanja in prva mesta. V letu 2007 je zbor osvojil veliko nagrado tekmovanja C. A. Seghizzi v italijanski Gorici. V svetovni zborovski javnosti so zelo odmevali nastopi zbora na festivalu The Singing World v St. Petersburgu poleti 2008 in koncerti v okviru najve~jega pevskega dogodka lanskega leta: festivala Europa Cantat v Utrechtu na Nizozemskem. V letih vodi zbor eden najbolj priznanih norve{kih dirigentov maestro Ragnar Rasmussen. The choir sang at countless festivals and competitions in Norway. Young singers have already toured Finland, Hungary, Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Slovak Republic, Estonia, Russia, Germans, and the Netherlands. In the years the choir is led by one of the most distinguished Norwegian conductor, maestro. Ragnar Rasmussen is Professor of Choral Conducting at the Music Conservatory in the North Norwegian town of Tromsø, Norway, musical director of vocal ensembles Mimas and Vokal Nord, the current conductor of the Norwegian Youth Choir, and this year s conductor of the World Youth Choir. Rasmussen has earned international acclaim as chief conductor/muscial director of vocal ensembles Saga, Mimas and Vokal Nord, which received a number of prizes at Norwegian and international choral competitions and a series of conducting prizes. Ragnar Rasmussen je profesor dirigiranja na Glasbenem konzervatoriju v severnonorve{kem mestu Tromsø, umetni{ki vodja komornih zborov Mimas in Vokal Nord, aktualni dirigent nacionalnega Norve{- kega mladinskega zbora in letosnji dirigent Svetovnega zbora mladih. Osnovno glasbeno izobrazbo je pridobil kot {tudent cerkvene glasbe na konzervatoriju v Trondheimu, nato pa se izpopolnjeval v zborovskem dirigiranju pri Ericu Ericsonu in Stefanu Sköldu ter v orkestralnem dirigiranju pri Colinu Mettersu (predstojnik oddelka za dirigiranje na Kraljevi akademiji za glasbo v Londonu) in Jormi Panuli (profesor dirigiranja na Akademiji Sibelius v Helsinkih). Rasmussen se je v mednarodnem prostoru uveljavil kot umetni{ki vodja komornih zborov Saga, Mimas in Vokal Nord, s katerimi je osvojil {tevilna odli~ja na norve{kih in mednarodnih tekmovalnih odrih in vrsto dirigentskih nagrad. The Norwegian Youth Choir was set up in 1987 by Joar Rørmark and Carl Høgset, who was also the permanent conductor of the choir and its musical director until the year Every summer this project vocal ensemble joins 40 outstanding singers aged 16 to 26, from all Norway. The repertoire of the choir consists of some classical European choral compositions from the Romantic era, contemporary choral pieces and folk songs of Norway and other other nations. Since its beginnings, the choir has been a regular guest at renowned international festivals and competitions, where it has received a number of golden awards and first prizes. Their most memorable performances include the performance at the Singing World International Festival and Competition in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2008, and the concerts the choir held at the biggest singing event of the year 2009, Europa Cantat in Utrecht, Netherlands. In 2007 the Norwegian Youth Choir won the Grand Prix at the C. A. Seghizzi Competition in Gorizia, Italy.

Sedem umetnikov, ki sicer prihajajo iz razli~nih glasbenih okolij, povezuje strastna `elja ustvarjati odli~no glasbo, v kateri se prelivajo vplivi z razli~nih koncev sveta. Skupino, ki ima korenine v tradicionalni irski glasbi, odlikuje mo~an, perkusiven na~in petja ter ~udovite melodije, podlo`ene z resnim ritmi~nim podtokom. Kíla so razvili njim povsem lasten slog svetovne glasbe, ki je poslu{alce po vsem svetu navdu{il z osmimi do sedaj izdanimi studijskimi albumi in neverjetnimi koncerti v `ivo. Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood joined Kila for a special impromptu performance. Ronnie who was in the audience jumped on stage with the Folk Legends and wooed the crowds in a spectacular traditional Irish Jamming session. Te`ko je na{teti vse uspehe te romske dive, saj je v svoji bogati, ve~ kot 40-letni karieri odpela okoli koncertov, med njimi skoraj tretjino humanitarnih, poje v dvajsetih jezikih, posnela pa je blizu 600 pesmi. Med njenimi albumi sta dva platinasta, osem zlatih in osem srebrnih. Leta 1976 so jo imenovali za kraljico vseh Romov, leta 2002 pa so ji v Moskvi podelili ~asten naziv Romska pevka stoletja in istega leta je bila nominirana za Nobelovo nagrado za mir. BIOGRAFIJA Esma Red`epova se je rodila v Skopju, kjer je tudi odra{~ala v romsko-muslimansko-`idovski dru`ini in med mnogimi dobronamernimi sosedi, ki so u`ivali ob njenem petju. Letno je Esma imela tudi ve~ kot 400 nastopov. Za MTV je posnela 8 ur video materiala, njen album Queen of the Gypsies pa je bil izbran med 20 najbolj{ih albumov svetovne glasbe. It is hard to list the achievements of this Romani diva, known to her audiences simply as Esma. She has performed in more than concerts so far, a third of them humanitarian, sings in 20 languages and has recorded nearly 600 songs. Two of her albums have gone platinum, eight gold, and a further eight silver. In 1976 Esma earned the title Queen of Romani Songs and in 2002 she was proclaimed Laureate and Roma Singer of the Century and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. BIOGRAPHY Esma was born on August 8, 1943, in Skopje, where she grew up in a Muslim Roma family, surrounded by many good-natured people who loved her singing. Thanks to her exquisite talent for music, dancing and play, Esma appeared on stage early in life. At the age of 11, she won a major radio talent show, and in 1961 she made her first TV and movie appearance. This initial success was followed by Esma s first tour and today there is practically no place on earth where her passionate voice has not been heard. Esma has toured all European countries and most of Asia; she performed in Russia, Iran, India and Japan; she held over 400 concerts a year. Esma recorded eight hours of video material for MTV and her album Queen of the Gypsies was ranked among 20 best world music albums. The biography of Esma and her husband Stevo is full of photos taken with world-class politicians and celebrities. They adopted 47 children and trained them in music and cultural traditions. For her cultural achievements in Yugoslavia and the world Esma was awarded the golden and silver medallion by Josip Broz Tito and numerous UNICEF awards. She supports and sponsors the Esma Sorority of Roma Women and fifty other non-profit humanitarian organizations specializing in culture, art, stage arts and women rights in Macedonia and the Balkans. She advocates peace, humanity, tolerance, and a world without ethnical, religious and racial differences. Owing to her dedication to humanitarian causes Esma was nominated as a United Nations Ambassador for Refugees, and earned her second Nobel Peace Prize nomination. On 10 April 2010, the International Roma (Gypsy) Day, Esma received a Medal for Courage from the Macedonian President \or e Ivanov.
