Transmitter back side Case screws 17 Data socket 18 Battery case 19 Fixture points for attachment holder Transmitter power supply The mz-8p HoTT transmitter comes standard with three alkaline batteries. (subject to modification). Installing transmitter batteries To insert the included transmitter batteries remove the battery case cover on the back side of the transmitter. Insert the included batteries in the holder paying attention to the correct polarity (see figure) Alternatively, AA size NiMH batteries can be used at any time. However, these are always to be charged outside the transmitter. The voltage level of the transmitter power supply is indicated by the status LED during operation: As soon as the power supply to the transmitter drops below 3.2 V, the normally constant red status LED starts flashing in rapid succession. At the same time, acoustic warning signals sound in the form of a 4x beep. At least now, the operation must be stopped immediately and the batteries have to changed or charged, only if rechargeable batteries are used! Removing the transmitter batteries If the transmitter is not going to be used for a long time, the batteries should be removed from the device to avoid damages to the transmitter due to electrolyte leaks. 18 / 39

ENGINE OFF CAMERA ACRO Transmitter buttons functions Motor OFF button After switching on the transmitter, the transmitter's motor OFF function is always active for safety reasons. In order to be able to put the motors of the copter into operation, if necessary, bring the throttle/ pitch control stick to its stop on the idling side and then press the left front key. As soon as an acoustic signal sounds and the yellow motor OFF LED goes out, the motors of the copter start to run at low speed and can be regulated accordingly with the throttle / pitch control stick. To switch off the motors, press the motor OFF button again. LED button 1. If the red status LED of the transmitter flashes, pressing this key triggers the binding process. 2. If the status LED of the transmitter is constantly red, any long press with the motor stop function activated will change in rotation to the next color of the LED illumination. These are located on the right and on the left of the Sweeper. SPEED button In the "Motor OFF" mode of the transmitter, each press of this button will rotate in rotation to the next of three preset path settings: 3-times signal Pitch % Roll/Nick/Yaw ±100 % (Standard setting after binding a receiver) 2-times signal Pitch: % Roll/Nick/Yaw ±60 % 1-times signal Pitch: % Roll/Nick/Yaw ±40 % 19 / 39

Auto-Flip function Trigger a rollover step-by-step 1. Press the completely self-neutralizing control stick. For about 5 seconds, a fast beep will sound. 2. As long as the beep is heard, move the roll or pitch stick more than 5 of its way toward the end stop while simultaneously "accelerating" so that the copter does not lose altitude during the flip. The copter makes a self-rollover in the direction in which it is headed. Note Possibly, after a rollover, the position of the Sweeper must be manually corrected, as this does not always return to its exact starting position. Attention If the auto flip function is used many times repeatedly the receiver can loose the attitude information and the Sweeper may move in an uncontrolled direction. Quiet hovering for about 30 seconds or a short stopover helps recalibrate the location information. 20 / 39

Data socket Accessories The data socket is used to connect an optional Bluetooth module as well as to update the transmitter or change its control mode. SMART-BOX, No Display and programmer for telemetry data and devices external Bluetooth module, No. S8351 for wireless transmission of telemetry data to a compatible Android smartphone and comfortable programming of receivers and sensors via smartphone. 22 Binding The included receiver is already bound to the mz-8p transmitter in the version RTF. In the other versions without included transmitter, you can bind the Sweeper receiver with your favourite HoTT transmitter. Thereto read the manual of your HoTT transmitter. The Sweeper receiver is already in binding mode as soon as it is switched on. Then simply start the binding process in the transmitter. Binding step-by-step 1. Switch on transmitter. 2. Start the Sweeper by plugging in the battery. On the left side of the Sweeper, the status LED lights up red for about 15 seconds: The Sweeper waits exclusively for control signals from "its" transmitter. 3. After the expiration of these approx. 15 seconds, the status LED starts flashing rhythmically red: The receiver of the Sweeper is now in bind mode. If "his" previous HoTT transmitter is switched on, the existing binding is retained. If a binding process is triggered on another HoTT transmitter according to its description, the receiver of the Sweeper binds to this transmitter and the existing binding is lost. 4. If the binding process was successful, the red status LED on the copter goes out and the RGB LEDs on the arms of the Sweeper light up constantly. Otherwise the process has to be repeated. Attention As mentioned above, the receiver of a Sweeper is in binding mode approximately 15 seconds after the battery is plugged in. If the Sweeper is already bound to a specific transmitter and should this binding be maintained, the transmitter must therefore be switched on for safety reasons before the commissioning of the Sweeper or at the latest within this period of 15 seconds. Otherwise, there is an acute danger that the Sweeper unintentionally binds to a foreigner Graupner HoTT transmitter, which is eventually in binding mode at the same time, and consequently goes into uncontrolled operation. 22 / 39

Notes After a binding process, the highest control sensitivity is always preset by default. If you press the "SPEED" button, you can reduce it to "medium" (2-way sound) or "low" (1-way sound). If a Sweeper has already been bound to the transmitter and this combination is to be put back into operation, then for safety reasons, first the transmitter and then the Sweeper must be put into operation. The corresponding connection is then automatically established. Range test By triggering the integrated range test by simultaneously pressing the transmitter's "SPEED" and "SNAP" buttons, the transmit power of the mz-8p HoTT transmitter is reduced so that a functional test can already be performed at a distance of 5 to about 10 m. After the 90 second range test, the transmitter switches back to full output, and the signal tone stops. Alternatively, however, the range test can be ended manually at any time by pressing the "SPEED" and "SNAP" keys again. Perform the range test for the Graupner-HoTT system according to the following instructions. It is useful to have an assistant to help you with the range test. 1. Switch on the remote control and then connect a battery to the Sweeper or switch on its power supply. Wait until both devices signal a correct connection. Now the motors or propellers should run controllably. 2. With the motor OFF function activated, place the model on level ground (pavement, short lawn or earth) so that it is at least 15 cm above the ground. It may therefore be necessary to place a support underneath the model during the test. 3. Hold the transmitter at hip level at a slight distance from your body. 4. Deactivate the motor OFF function and start the range test by simultaneously pressing the "SPEED" and "SNAP" keys. 5. The red status LED on the transmitter will start to blink quickly and a signal tone is emitted twice each two seconds. 6. Move away from the model within these 90 seconds while moving the sticks. Make sure, however, that the model does not stand out in an uncontrolled manner. If you detect an interruption in the link within a range of about 5-10 m at any time, attempt to reproduce it. 23 / 39

7. Move further away from the model until it does not respond perfectly. 8. At this location, wait for the remainder of the test period with the still operable model. The model should still react to control commands once the range test is finished. If this is not 100 % the case, do not use the system and contact our Service department. 9. After the 90 second range test, the transmitter switches back to full output, and the signal tone stops. By simultaneously pressing the "SPEED" and "SNAP" buttons, the range test can be stopped earlier at any time. 10. Perform a range test before each flight, and simulate all control movements that could occur during the flight. In order to guarantee a safe model operation, the range must always be at least 5-10 m on the ground. Attention Never start a range test on the transmitter during normal model operation! Stick calibration If the middle position of your self-neutralizing stick does not exactly correspond to control course, then you can check it yourself and correct it if necessary. Stick calibration step by step 1. Eventually disconnect the copter by unplugging the battery. 2. Put the transmitter into programming mode by pressing and holding the left control stick. An acoustic signal sounds and the central red LED flashes 3 times per second. About another three seconds later, an acoustic signal sounds again. 3. Now successively move both joysticks to the respective end stops and then back to the middle. 4. Keep both sticks in the middle position. After approx. 3 seconds, an acoustic signal sounds and the central red and the yellow "Acro" LEDs on the top right flash 3x each 3x per second. 5. Now press the left stick for about one second. As soon as the left, yellow, "motor OFF" LED lights up and the central red LED flashes slowly, the process has been completed correctly and the stick can be released. Otherwise the entire process has to be repeated. 6. The Sweeper can be put back into operation. 24 / 39

ENGINE OFF CAMERA ACRO Forward and backward (nick) Fail-Safe function If the radio connection is interrupted for less than approx. 0.5 seconds, the factory setting is to "hold" the control signals last recognized as correct. If the disturb lasts longer, the motors will be switched "OFF" after expiry of this period. 26 / 39

Installing the propellers! CAUTION Risk of injury by rotating propellers in case the motors start. Always unplug the connector to the battery before working on the propellers. Install the propellers as shown in the picture on the left. Be sure to attach the right propeller to each motor. The propellers are marked accordingly. If only one propeller is put on wrong, the Sweeper is not able to fly. On the two, seen from above, clockwise running motors left front (1) and right rear (3) you have to install the propellers marked with an "R". On the two, seen from above, running counterclockwise motors right front (2) and left rear (4) you have to install the non-marked propellers. Lock nuts Notes Please note that the red nuts for attaching the propellers have a left-hand thread and the black nuts have a right-hand thread. On the two, seen from above, clockwise running motors left front (1) and right rear (3) you have to install the red nuts. On the two, seen from above, running counterclockwise motors right front (2) and left rear (4) you have to install the black nuts. 27 / 39

First use Receiver The integrated HoTT receiver is optimally matched to the Sweeper at the factory. To program your own parameters, refer to the detailed instructions of the receiver No. S1038, the manual can be found in the download area of the receiver. Installing the LiPo battery in the Sweeper Secure the LiPo battery to the underside of the frame with a self-adhesive Velcro strip and secure it against falling with two additional Velcro cable ties after fine tuning the center of gravity. Determining the centre of gravity Hold the Sweeper in the middle of the main frame with two fingers and lift it up. The Sweeper should take a horizontal position. Otherwise, move the battery accordingly. Connecting the LiPo battery To start up the Sweeper, plug the connector of the main battery into the corresponding socket of the Sweeper and remove it again after setting the flight mode. 28 / 39

Never plug in two batteries at the same time, this will destroy the charger and the batteries V Connect the power cord of the supplied charger to the charger to a suitable 100V - 240V source. 1. The display on the charger shows the numbers 2. Plug the battery white balancer-connector to the right-hand 4S charging port of the charger. 3. The display then shows the battery voltage (charging mode). 4. When the charging process is complete, the display alternates between the battery voltage and the display. Then the battery is fully charged. 5. Unplug first the battery connector from the charger and then the connection cable from the power supply. 29 / 39

First flight For the first flight, select a large, free flight surface with not too hard ground. Take firstly confidence with the flight attitude of the Sweeper. Proceed carefully and responsibly. Commissioning the Sweeper step-by-step 1. Switch on transmitter. 2. Start the Sweeper by plugging in the battery. After commissioning of the Sweeper, its position stabilization is immediately active, but not yet initialized. 3. Place the Sweeper horizontally on a suitable surface for about 3 sec after switching on. The calibration process can only be performed when the receiver is absolutely still. Always wait until the calibration process has finished before starting to fly the model. If required, you can achieve the same effect with a correspondingly long-lasting stopover on a suitable surface. 4. Move the throttle / pitch control stick to idle position. This is usually the "back" end point. 5. Deactivate the Motor Stop function. The propellers start to rotate at low speed. 6. Carefully move the throttle / pitch stick forward until the copter is about one meter high and hold it at that height. Initially, move the control sticks slightly so that you have enough time to familiarize yourself with the Sweeper's reactions. If, especially when hovering, the Sweeper always drifts in a certain direction, compensate the movement by tapping the corresponding trim button in the opposite direction. Alternatively, you can land and move the battery in the opposite direction. 7. After landing, first activate the motor stop function, then first put the transmitter away and take the Sweeper in hand to stake out the battery. 30 / 39

HoTT transmitter presettings Depending on the bandwidth of the model type selection of the HoTT transmitter used, either the model type "Copter" or alternatively a "Fixed-wing model" should be selected. Some of the current HoTT transmitters are even shipped with preconfigured model memory, such as: for example, the transmitter mz-12 Pro HoTT included in some sets. The following programming suggestions and display illustrations are also based on this transmitter. Usually "backwards" so that the channel 1 indicator in the servo display indicates -10 in the "motor off" position of the "throttle / pitch control stick". Flight mode has to be set to channel 5. To do this, program a 2-way switch in the "Control settings" menu on Channel 5 as follows: Attitude mode The stick movements act directly proportionally to Roll and Nick. In the attitude mode, the maximum inclination angle is limited to approx. 50 at 10 of the stick travel. The attitude mode is active as long as the bar of channel 5 is on the left of -5 in the»servo display«. How far to the left is irrelevant. (The -10 shown on the left are based on the switch programming above.) Flight mode suggested for beginners. Rate mode In this mode, the rate is determined by the rash of the stick without inclination limit. In this aerobatic mode rolls and loops are possible. The Rate mode is active as soon as the bar of channel 5 is to the right of +5 in the display "Servo display". How far to the right is irrelevant. (The -10 shown on the left are based on the switch programming above.) Not suitable for beginners. 31 / 39

The motors run with the minimum power set in the "MINPOWER%" line of the "Multicopter Basis" display described later and the position control of the copter is still active. This state continues until a correct transmitter signal is recognized again by the receiver module. For safety reasons, a motor stop switch must always be programmed on the transmitter side according to the transmitter instructions. Only when this is placed into the appropriate position, an undesired start of the motors is reliably prevented. To prevent this, a mixer is to be programmed in such a way that switching the motor stop switch to the motor OFF position also automatically switches over to the position mode in which the stop of all motors is then ensured. Programming step-by-step 1. Program a linear mixer of "S => 5" according to the transmitter instructions. 2. Give this mixer the same switch with the same switching direction that activates the motor stop function. Keep this switch in the motor OFF position while programming the mixer. 3. Change to the setting page of the mixer. 4. Set the "travel" symmetrically to Change to the line "Offset". 6. Now manually set the offset value to +10, so as shown in the picture on the left, see middle illustration on the left. And in the servo display, the bars of channels 1 and 5 should be set to -10 despite the Rate mode is activated, see the lower figure on the left. 32 / 39

In parallel, the colour of the LED lighting of the copters changes. red = Video channel R3 green = Video channel R4 blue = Video channel R5 white = Video channel R6 To toggle the video channels as well as the lighting of the copter, in the menu "Control setting", program one of the self-resetting switches on your transmitter to "input 6" and leave the rest at their default values. In the preprogrammed model memory "Alpha 110" of the optionally supplied transmitter mz-12 Pro HoTT is the right front mounted switch "S6". From this three-stage switch, only the self-resetting switch function is used. Auto-Flip With the auto-flip function, it is easy to perform a flip in the Attitude mode with the copter. However, since the auto-flip function should only be activated in "Attitude mode", the corresponding dependency is established by setting a free mixer of "5 => 6" as follows: Programming step-by-step 1. Select "5" in the "from" column of a free linear mixer. 2. In the now accessible column "to",select "6" as target. 3. In the column above the switch symbol assign a self-resetting switch, for example the switch 2 of the mz-12 Pro HoTT. 4. Change to the setting side of the mixer and hold down the button just assigned to set the mixer. 5. According to the transmitter description, an asymmetrical path of at least -11 has to be set. However, as shown in the figure, a setting between -125% and -15 is recommended. 6. Recall the servo display for checking: ശശ In Attitude mode, when the selected switch is activated, the channel 6 bar must exceed the minimum value of +11. ശശ In the Rate mode, the bar of channel 6 must remain at even if the selected switch is pressed. So programmed, the auto-flip function can be "armed" in the Attitude mode with a short change of the self-resetting switch for about 5 seconds. As soon as the roll or pitch control stick is moved 33 / 39

more than 5 of its way within this time, the copter will automatically flip to the appropriate direction. Note After the flip, position deviations in the range of <10 are possible. Default model memory Alpha 110 Alpha 250 Hornet250 Alpha 300 Xcell VersaCopt Some model memory of the possibly supplied transmitter Graupner mz-12 Pro HoTT are pre-assigned with pattern settings for different Graupner copters. Of these, the model memory 01 named Alpha 110 is suitable for controlling a 3D or Race copter Alpha 150Q or 170Q, and the model memory 04 named Alpha 300 is used for controlling one of the Race copter Alpha 220Q. Note In both cases, it is recommended not to use the pre-programmed model memory directly, but to copy it into a free model memory in accordance with the transmitter manual and then rename it accordingly. MODE CONTROLLER SETTING To initialize the controller, the signal of the motor / pitch control stick of the transmitter is transmitted directly to the speed controller of the copter. Setting the speed controllers step-by-step 1. Remove rotors for safety reasons 2. Make sure that the transmitter-side pitch signal reaches ± In the telemetry menu of the transmitter, change the value field of the MODE line to CONTROLLER SETTING and confirm with ENTER. 4. Switch off the copter or unplug the battery plug. 5. Switch off the motor stop function of the transmitter. 6. Move the pitch control stick of the transmitter to the full throttle position. 7. Switch on the copter or connect the battery. 8. Wait for the confirmation melody or, if no sound is heard, alternatively switch on the motor stop function after approx. 15 seconds. 9. After approx. 15 additional seconds, check the function. 10. In the telemetry menu of the transmitter, reset the value field of the MODE line to the original setting and confirm with ENTER. 11. Switch off the copter or unplug the battery plug. 12. If the motors do not start after completion of this process despite active binding, the copter must be bound again. 34 / 39

Firmware updates The required programs and files are enclosed in a software pack and can be found for the corresponding product at Download this software package from the Internet, and unpack it on your Windows PC or laptop. The procedure is also described in detail in the manual contained in the data package. You can also singularly download these from the download page of the product at Notes Please note that compatible firmware is required for reliable communication between the HoTT components. The programs and files that are required for updates are therefore combined into a single pack that is currently named "HoTT_Software_ V4.zip". Always use all your RC components only with the latest firmware version. The current firmware version can be found on the Internet at Firmware updates of a Sweeper are performed via the connector on the left side of the copter using a laptop or PC running Windows You will need the optionally available USB interface, No , as well as the adapter cables No S and S Connect the adapter lead to the USB interface. The polarity of the plug-in system cannot be reversed. Note the small chamfers on the sides. Do not use force, the plug should click into place easily. Finally, connect the adapter cable S with the correct polarity to the corresponding end of the adapter cable 7168.S. Now push the narrow white plug all the way into the side connector. But do not apply force. The update takes place via the program part "Slowflyer / Gyro Receiver Downloader" of the program "Firmware_Upgrade_gr_Studio" available under "Links". Please follow the notes of the software. Firmware update step-by-step 1. Download the required firmware file from the product page to your PC and unzip it if necessary. 2. Be sure to check the charge level of the battery to be used as the power source before each firmware update. 3. When switched off, connect the device to be powered up to a PC or laptop using the aforementioned cables and adapters. ശ Do not interrupt this connection during an update! Therefore, it is essential to ensure trouble-free contact between transmitter and computer, and later, after plugging in the power source, between Sweeper and power source. 4. Start the program "Firmware_Upgrade_gr_Studio". 35 / 39

5. Select the correct COM port in the program part "Port select" of the "Firmware_Upgrade_gr_Studio". 6. Open the program part "Slowflyer, Gyro Receiver Downloader" of the "Firmware_Upgrade_gr_Studio". 7. Click on "File" in the upper left corner and change to the location of the previously downloaded upgrade file in the following "Open File" dialog. 8. Select the ".bin" file matching your copter. 9. Click on "Start". 10. Now connect the battery, previously checked for its charge status, to the copter. The firmware upgrade process starts. 11. The end of the data transfer will be indicated by the update program. 12. Disconnect the battery from the copter and then disconnect the PC or laptop. 13. Be sure to check the copter for correctness after each update. Factory reset If necessary, all values stored in the transmitter can be deleted by a reset and reset to the factory settings. To do this, proceed as follows: Push and hold all the trims to the inside and then switch the transmitter on. Note All settings made in the meantime are reset to the default values! 36 / 39
