7 2. INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS 2. Installation precautions 2.1 Specific instructions CAUTION: Keep the space around the fans free, so that the ventilation air is not obstructed. The MNA can be stacked on a table or tower. Instructions At least two adapters are needed to install the Nexxis Operating Room (OR) system. Install the adapter as an encoder or as a decoder, as illustrated in the figures below. The MNA-110 types have one (1) input or one (1) output. The MNA-120 types have two (2) inputs or two (2) outputs. The illustrations included are for MNA-120 types only. For MNA- 110 types this is similar (less inputs/outputs). Other types like Single Ended Mono microphones are not supported. 3.1 MNA-120 ENC DVI Connections Diagrams Below is an overview of how to connect the signal cables of the adapter with other devices. 12 3. Installing the MNA The 2 decoder output streams can be used either on 2 displays (as illustrated on image 3-7 and similar illustrations) or as PiP/ PaP on one display. The illustrations (such as image 3-7) show one encoder and one decoder. However, there can be more than one encoder and more than one decoder in an OR setup. 14 3. Installing the MNA The wiring diagram for the trigger connector is based on the OMTP (Open Mobile Terminal Platform) standard. The microphone is used as trigger input here. 23 4. CLEANING YOUR ADAPTER 4. Cleaning your adapter 4.1 Cleaning procedure Before cleaning 1. Switch off the adapter. 2. Remove the power cord from the adapter. Cleaning the adapter 1. Clean the cabinet using a soft cotton cloth, lightly moistened with a recognized cleaning product for medical equipment. The cabinet has been tested for resistance to the following products: - Cidex, Betadine - Alcohol (Isopropyl and Ethyl) - Ammonia-based cleaners (Windex) - Aquasonic Gel In case none of the above cleaning products is available, use plain water. Caution: Do not apply or spray liquid directly to the cabinet as excess liquid may cause damage to internal electronics. Instead, apply the liquid to the cleaning cloth. 2. Repeat with water only. 3. 25 5. Important information 5. IMPORTANT INFORMATION 5.1 Safety information General recommendations Read the safety and operating instructions before operating the device. Retain safety and operating instructions for future reference. Adhere to all warnings on the device and in the operating instructions manual. Follow all instructions for operation and use. Electrical Shock or Fire Hazard To prevent electric shock or fire hazard, do not remove cover. No serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel. Do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture. Modifications to the unit: Do not modify this equipment without authorization of the manufacturer. Type of protection (Electrical) Device with external power supply: Class I equipment. Degree of safety (flammable anesthetic mixture): Equipment not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or with oxygen or nitrous oxide. Non-patient care equipment Equipment primarily for use in a health care facility that is intended for use where contact with a patient is unlikely (no applied part). The equipment may not be used with life support equipment. The user should not touch the equipment, nor its signal input ports (SIP)/signal output ports (SOP) and the patient at the same time. Power connection Equipment with external 12 VDC power supply Power requirements: The equipment must be powered using the delivered medical approved 12 VDC ( ) power supply. The medical approved DC ( ) power supply must be powered by the AC mains voltage. The power supply is specified as a part of the ME equipment or combination is specified as a ME system. To avoid the risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to a supply mains with protective earth. The equipment should be installed near an easily accessible outlet. The equipment is intended for continuous operation. Transient over-voltage If the device is not used for a long time, disconnect it from the AC inlet to avoid damage by transient over-voltage. 26 5. Important information To fully disengage the power to the device, please disconnect the power cord from the AC inlet. Power cords: Utilize a UL-listed detachable power cord, 3-wire, type SJ or equivalent, 18 AWG min., rated 250 V min., provided with a hospital-grade type plug 5-15P configuration for 120V application, or 6-15P for 240V application. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this may result in fire or electric shock. Mains lead protection (U.S.: Power cord): Power cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked upon or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs and receptacles. The power supply cord should be replaced by the designated operator only at all time. Use a power cord that matches the voltage of the power outlet, which has been approved and complies with the safety standard of your particular country. Connections Any external connection with other peripherals must follow the requirements of clause 16 of IEC rd ed. or Table BBB.201 of IEC for the medical electrical systems. Water and moisture Never expose the device to rain or moisture. Never use the device near water - e.g. near a bathtub, washbasin, swimming pool, kitchen sink, laundry tuborinawetbasement. Ventilation Do not cover or block any ventilation openings in the cover of the set. When installing the device in a cupboard or another enclosed location, heed the necessary space between the set and the sides of the cupboard. Installation Place the device on a flat, solid and stable surface that can support the weight of at least 3 devices. If you use an unstable cart or stand, the device may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the device. Video cabling All screws that guarantee that a video cable is locked to the MNA, shall be fixed extra. Maximum stacking A maximum of 6 adapters can be stacked. WARNING: S-vid3 connection is not lockable, if an S-video input source is needed and needs to be lockable, use connections to Y2 and C2. WARNING: All devices and complete setup must be tested and validated before taking into operation. Important information 5.3 Regulatory compliance information Indications for use The Barco Medical Network Adapter (MNA) is designed for use in an integrated operating room to allow transfer, selection and distribution of A/V signals and medical images. The Barco MNA is also designed for control of non-medical room equipment by means of transfer, selection and distribution of human interface signals and control signals. The Barco MNA allows control and selection of these signals by trained personnel from a central point. The control interface itself is not part of the Barco MNA. The Barco MNA is not intended to be used for remote or robotically-assisted surgery. FCC class B This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This device has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This device generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this device does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the device off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase the separation between the device and receiver. Connect the device into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/tv technician for help. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user s authority to operate the equipment. With the installation of the device, use only the delivered power supply or a spare part provided by the legal manufacturer. Using another can result in a decrease of the immunity level of the device. Electromagnetic emissions The MNA-120 is intended for use in the electromagnetic environment specified below. Therefore, its RF emissions are very low and are not likely to cause any interference in nearby electronic equipment. RF emissions Class B The MNA-120 is suitable for use in all establishments, including CISPR 11 Harmonic emissions Class D domestic establishments and those directly connected to the IEC public low-voltage power supply Voltage fluctuations/ flicker Complies network that supplies buildings emissions used for domestic purposes. IEC This MNA-120 complies with appropriate medical EMC standards on emissions to, and interference from surrounding equipment. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Interference can be determined by turning the equipment off and on.
