5 Idea Catalogue 5 BeoLink SmartHome This solution offers remote access and control of both your A/V and Home Automation systems, utilizing your local Wi-Fi network. Secure remote access to the system is also possible when using the Khimo online service*). 6 Idea Catalogue 6 Controlling the Home Automation from the TV screen One of the new features of the BeoLink Gateway is the option to access and control your home automation ressources directly from the TV screen. Description With this new feature it is possible to get an overview of all the home automation ressources added to the BeoLink Gateway configuration. Using just a few clicks on the BeoRemote One you can see if anyone has forgotten to switch of the lights somewhere in the house or even see who is outside the door getting the image from an IP camera directly on the TV screen. The menu just overlays whatever content that is shown on the TV and it event works on 4K content.

7 Idea Catalogue 7 Add door camera functionality to the customers BeoLink SmartHome system When someone rings the doorbell while the customer is watching TV the door camera automatically overlays on whatever is being watched on the TV. Operate the camera and open the door all using the Beo4 / BeoRemote One. 8 Idea Catalogue 8 Control Contact Closure, RS232 or IR devices over WiFi or LAN via BeoLink Gateway These small devices from Global Cache are a great way to solve a problem when there is no way to pull a cable or there is no home automation system present. All you need is a standard cabled Ethernet connection or WiFi coverage in order to integrate a device controlled by either RS232, IR or Contact Closure. Used together, any IR, serial, or relay device can be network-enabled and automated using IFTTT (If This Then That) commands and become part of the IoT (Intenet of Things) infrastructure. The Global Caché itach is a family of products designed to connect almost any electrical device to a network in a matter of minutes. Based on open systems and industry standards, the ultra-compact device fits almost anywhere (even the palm of your hand), and includes a choice of wireless (WiFi) or wired (TCP/IP) connectivity to infrared (IR), serial (RS232), and contact closure (relay) equipment. Limitations: The WiFi devices only support WiFi b standard on 2.4 GHz band using channels 1-11 The current rating for the relays in the IP2CC is very low so an external relay should be used for mains power and high current applications.

9 Idea Catalogue 9 Simple light control solution (Philips Hue) Philips Hue lighting is a great way to make a simple light control solution and get started selling the BeoLink Gateway and all its features to a customer. It is cheap to get started with and is very easy to install as the bulbs communicate wirelessly via ZigBee to the bridge. BeoVision TV Philips Hue Starter Kit BeoLink App Bang & Olufsen Remote BeoLink Gateway Internet Router/ Switch Description The Philips Hue system can now be purchased in many countries around the world and they have quite an extensive product range with many types of lamps and sockets for different purposes. You can connect up to 50 Hue light bulbs to a single system all wirelessly, while using as much as 80% less energy than traditional bulbs. Just setup the Hue system with the Hue App and name the lamps. Then it is easy to import them into the BeoLink Gateway. It takes approx. 10 minutes to get the lamps programmed for basic control, once the process of adding the lamps in the BLGW has been started. The lamps can be controlled either via the Home Control menu on the TV screen, the BeoLink App or via the Bang & Olufsen remote if some macros are made to adjust the lamps or trigger some scenes. 11 Idea Catalogue 11 BeoGram record players in BeoLink Multiroom Many customers still have an old BeoGram record player around the house somewhere and as vinyls are getting more and more popular many new customers are also requesting a way to distribute their vinyls in a multiroom system. Below are two examples of how you can integrate an old BeoGram recordplayer with BeoLink Multiroom. Solution 1: Phono / RCA Phono / RCA BeoGram Record Player RIAA Amplifier BeoSound Moment / Any multiroom audio product with Line-In Solution 2: Master Link BeoLink Converter NL/ML AUDIO AUX LINK BeoLink Converter 1611 BeoMaster 6500 / BeoMaster 7000 Power Link Description: Solution 1: Feed the record player into any Bang & Olufsen audio system with an AUX input / Line-in and distribute it from there to any room in the house either wired or wireless. Solution 2: Upgrade your old BeoMaster to become a nearly full-blown member of the BeoLink Multiroom family. It will show up in the BeoMusic App (BeoLink Converter NL/ML) as a product and you can select the sources available on it and control the volume. That must be one of the first (and coolest) app controlled record players in the world. Setup BeoLink Converter NL/ML as Video Master and select Product Controlled by Apps as BeoLink Converter with speakers. Give it a Frindly name like BeoMaster 6500 and setup/rename the sources shown in BeoMusic App under Experience mapped to NL. 12 Idea Catalogue 12 Continue to use a Master Link system without having a Master Link Master in the system If a customer have a number of Link rooms with e.g. BeoLink Active and Passive, and update the Audio and Video master to new Network Link products, it is necessary to install a ML Power box. BeoLink Converter NL/ML Socket Panel IR LINE IN USB POWERLINK RJ45 NETWORK POWER ML MASTERLINK ML Power Box Connect to Master Link either via Master Link connector or RJ45 via ML Power Box TO ML Description: The ML Power Box will make it possible to use BeoLink Converter NL/ML on Master Link without any other master, i.e. up to 15 units of BeoLab 2000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLink Active, BeoLink Passive, BeoLink Video and BeoVision MX The BeoLink Converter NL/ML can act as a ML Key Master on the Master Link system from firmware release The BeoLink Converter NL/ML does not include the power functionality to drive the Master Link data bus. This power will have to come from the ML Power Box. The ML Power Box has two RJ45 sockets, so it is possible to link to other ML products via CAT7 cables. 13 Idea Catalogue 13 Making recessed installation behind TV s A way to make discrete installations behind TV s can be to use a Sync-box. It allows installations behind a flat on wall TV. Description: Power outlets are available for different European standards. Other cable outlet can be e.g. a brush module where cables come direct out of wall or Keystone moduls are available so Bang & Olufsen CAT 7 connectors and F-connectors can be clipped in. 14 Idea Catalogue Cable Management A successful sale and a satisfied customer is depending on making the details correct. One important thing is to ensure a nice looking installation. To help making perfect installations Bang & Olufsen can deliver a series of cable managers. The cable managers are self-wrapping and can be wrapped around the cables after installation. It is same type as used for cable management on the BeoVision Avant Floor Stand The cable managers are available in three different colors. and 3 different sizes. 15 Idea Catalogue 15 Manually control the power on/off on Bang & Olufsen speakers from other systems In many cases it is requested to have precise control of when the speakers turn on and off instead of relying on the Line-In sense functionality built into many of the speakers. Sometimes when other audio distribution equipment than Bang & Olufsen is used for multiroom distribution or a control system is used, we often get requests for controlling the power on/off from a trigger signal. This cable above makes it easy to connect the speakers to third part equipment. 16 Idea Catalogue 16 Bang & Olufsen s recommendation for a small network infrastructures For smaller set-up s our recommendation is to use a Linksys Router and where extra wired ports are needed, a Cisco Switch. The parts have been tested together with the Bang & Olufsen and B&O PLAY products and can be ordered from Bang & Olufsen in Europe. When setting up Bang & Olufsen or B&O PLAY products we recommend to make a separate network to support the products. You can find more information on how to set-up in the BeoLink Manual. 17 Idea Catalogue 17 Bang & Olufsen s recommendation for a medium and large network infrastructures For medium/large systems (e.g. BeoLink Multiroom or BeoLink SmartHome) we recommend either Pakedge or Cisco Meraki. The two systems are performing on the same level and within the same price range. When setting up Bang & Olufsen or B&O PLAY products we recommend to make a separate network to support the products. A Pakedge system could e.g. consist of: Pakedge RE-2 (Router) Pakedge SX-24P (Switch) Pakedge WK-1 (AP) (two or more units depending on the environment) Pakedge NK-1 (Network Controller) A Cisco Meraki system could e.g. consist of: Z1 Cloud managed Teleworker Gateway (router) MR P Cloud Managed 24port GigE Switch MR 32 Cloud Managed Access Point (two or more units depending on the environment) Description: Both systems above can both be monitored and configured via the Cloud so that basic troubleshooting can be done from your workshop without having to visit the customer. 18 Idea Catalogue 18 Solution for ripping CD s to a NAS drive (RipNAS Solid E) When needing a solution for ripping a customers CD to a NAS drive we have found the below product to perform well. With fanless design the RipNAS is more reliable and noiseless. It has a very small form factor and a very low power consumption. It is delivered with a 1 TB HDD preinstalled. Storage can be expanded or backed up using USB HDD connected to the RipNAS. Metadata is received from 5 different online databases. 19 Idea Catalogue 19 Chromecast content from Mobile Devices to TV screen With Chromecast it is possible to cast a wide variety of content from ios and Android devices to the televison screen. It is simply a dongle connected to the TV s inputs and it is powered by a USB connection. 20 Idea Catalogue 20 PowerLine infrastructure (Devolo) Bang & Olufsen has chosen to offer Powerline products from Devolo as Devolo is the technology leader within Powerline technology. Below please find a short description of the product and usage. Cable Replacement Cable Replacement with Wireless Access Point Description Powerline is a technology that allows a data signal to be transmitted on the power cables (120/230V) that already are installed in all private homes. It can be used as an alternative to Wi-Fi in installations where it is not possible to use CAT7 cables. In homes with e.g. concrete walls, floor or ceiling where Wi-Fi can be problematic. In many cases Powerline has been seen as more stable than a Wi-Fi connection, however like with Wi-Fi there will be situations where Powerline may also have problems. It can also be used as an easy way to enhance Wi-Fi coverage in a home. 21 Idea Catalogue 21 Playing CD s on a Bang & Olufsen TV (OPPO BDP-103/105D) If not possible to use a Bang & Olufsen CD player, the next best thing is to utilize an Oppo player as a CD player connected to a Bang & Olufsen Television. 22 Idea Catalogue 22 Connecting wireless Bang & Olufsen speakers to a 3rd party TV RCV3000 makes it possible to connect a Samsung, LG or Sony TV to the BeoLab Transmitter 1 while still using the TV s own remote to control the volume level. Description The TV can be connected to the BeoLab Transmitter 1 via TOSLINK or fixed line-out.
