Things round here are changing fast, The old place ain t the same. We can t get stuck there in the past, We ve had to up our game. We re logged onto the internet And boy, it s lots of fun, But having Facebook means we get Very little done! We re trying hard to keep up With the modern world. So we ve all gone.. Hi-tech here at the North Pole, Everything s fine now we re on line. We ve set our sights on megabytes, To have a hi-tech Christmas time! Saws and chisels are packed away Along with paint and glue. The workshop tools have had their day, They ve nothing left to do. Cause now we ve got the World Wide Web, It takes no time at all To fill our basket then checkout - We re really on the ball! We re trying hard to keep up With the modern world. So we ve all gone.. Hi-tech here at the North Pole. Repeat Repeat Hi-tech Christmas time! è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 1
Verse 3 Christmas is for presents, A chance that can t be missed! We d better get in early And start our Christmas list! Watching every advert To get a good idea Of all the lovely goodies We ll be asking for this year. Gimme, gimme, gimme, Cause we want it all! You don t really want to see us Holler and bawl, so Gimme, gimme, gimme, We re good girls and boys! Fill up all our stockings, Bring on those games and toys! A hover-board s a must-have, A trendy way to skate, Along with other gadgets, Which must be up to date. Latest phones and tablets Are things that we request, A cool new pair of trainers So we re sure to look our best. Gimme, gimme, gimme.. When mums and dads were children, It didn t sound too good; The toys they had for Christmas Were often made of wood! How they ever managed Without a flashing screen, Is something we don t understand, It s like our worst bad dream! Gimme, gimme, gimme.. è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 2
When you re tucked up cosy in your bed On Christmas Eve, Santa brings lovely things.. Is that what you believe? If you hear the sound of footsteps You cannot be sure If it s that jolly chap Just cause he s been before! If you spy a snow-white beard And a suit of red, It might not be Father C, But someone else you know instead. (removing hats and pulling beards aside) It s Mum or Dad in Santa fancy-dress, Sneaking around We really hoped you wouldn t guess! Go back to bed and close your tired eyes, You ll never know you saw us in disguise! (they replace hats and beards) If the mince pie and the sherry By the fireplace Have all gone, down in one, Who s really filled their face? And the carrot left for Rudolf And his friends to eat? Is it true the caribou Have had themselves a treat? Though there might be evidence Someone has been fed, It might not be Father C, But someone else you know instead. It s Mum or Dad. Repeat è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 3
(Yes we) Yes we would rather be (rather be) At home with our family, (family) To laugh and sing and play (sing and play) With those we love on Christmas day. To pull a cracker or two, (or two) And share a present with you, (with you) But that s a might-have-been, (might-have-been) It s just a silly Christmas dream. It s not how we imagined things would pan out, This Christmas won t be something to shout about! The beds are so uncomfy And the food is cold and lumpy! There really can t be any doubt.. (That we) That we would rather be.. It s not so bad cause guess what, on Christmas day We get a visit from the hospital DJ! And though his jokes are slightly Boring, we ll smile politely And hope he ll soon be on his way! ( Cause we) Cause we would rather be.. è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 4
Please come home for Christmas, Cause it s been too long since you went away. And what we really miss is Your loving hugs and kisses, So please come home, Yes please come home for Christmas day. It s five in the morning, But we ve been awake since three! We wonder what Santa Left beneath the Christmas tree. Whatever it is, we would gladly sacrifice, If it meant you could be here with us So.. Please come home for Christmas... There s a place at the table But we see an empty chair. How can it be Christmas Without you sitting there? Well, all that we have we would gladly sacrifice, If it meant you could be here with us So.. Please come home for Christmas... Instrumental (during which the family pass around the picture of Dad and each have a little waltz with him!) Please come home for Christmas... è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 5
A light breaking on the horizon Is the sign of a brand new dawning day. We wait in a suffering silence For the fear and the doubt to wash away. Where s the childhood we dream of, The freedom to laugh without care? Is your season of peace and goodwill A season you re willing to share with someone? Open your hearts, banish the darkness And let a little love shine. Reach out a hand with understanding And break down the walls that divide. Stand up as one, together we re strong, Let s build a world where we all belong. This is the gift we can give This Christmas time. Part 1 Part 2 This year, We wish you Full of hardship and sorrow, A merry Christmas Is a year like we ve never Known before. And a happy new year. We wait We wish you For a brighter tomorrow, A merry Christmas And we pray that we find An open door. And a happy new year. Where s the childhood we dream of, The freedom to laugh without care? Is your season of peace and goodwill A season you re willing to share with someone? Open your hearts Repeat è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 6
There s been a lesson learned, We ve a brand new point of view. A corner has been turned, And we know just what to do. Stay true to what this Christmas Should be all about, And spread the message far and wide.. What matters most Isn t what you ve got, But what you re giving. And what you give Doesn t have to cost the earth. A little time, a helping hand, A smile to show you understand What a Christmas filled with love Is really worth. There s been a change of heart, Now we see things differently. For Christmas day we ve got A new priority: Give thanks and be deserving Of what we receive, And count our blessings, every one. What matters most.. Repeat x2 è Edgy Productions Unauthorised performing and copying prohibited. See p2 Page 7
