Allen :Speaking of relaxation is there anywhere in Taiwan with beaches? Kevin:We would really like to enjoy some sun and sand before we return to Canada. Eusden:At the southen tip of the Island sits Kenting, a beautiful beach town with many fantastic hotels. Allen :Sounds perfect! Eusden:If you want to chill on the beach, you can do so,and enjoy the finest western food in Taiwan. Kevin :Great! Allen :Do you think we can fit all that in 2 weeks? 12 101 年度大肚國小英語文競賽題目 第 3 名 -- 指導老師 : 彭怡玲 ~Our Favorite Stories~ Liang Shanbo ( 梁山伯 ) and Juliet Cast: Ruby-a Grade 6 student who loves the story of Romeo and Juliet David- a Grade 6 student who is engaged in reading Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai Script: Ruby: O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? David: We are like butterflies with the company of beautiful flowers. Our love will last all eternity. O Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. (Noticing Ruby is right by him) David: Wow, why are you dressed up like this? Ruby: That s the question I m going to ask you, Liang Shanbo. David: I m practicing for the play next month. It s my favorite story. And, may I have your name? Ruby: Sure, I m Juliet. I m practicing my part, too. David: Hi, Juliet, how are you doing? Your love story is so touching. Ruby: I think so. Although our families are enemies, we do love each other. I try
13 my best to strive for the freedom to love. How about you? Why do you love Zhu Yingtai so much? David: She is a wonderful girl. She is against traditional thinking and studies hard at school. She can understand what I talk about: math, music, social studies etc. No girl can do that like her. Ruby: Oh, I see. Zhu Yingtai is indeed a wonderful and smart girl. I m sorry for you two. You cannot be together just like us. David: Don t feel sorry for us. At least, our love story inspires people a lot. Ruby: You know what? Suddenly, I understand that we two couples are similar at some points. David: What s that? We all died in the end? Ruby: No, that s not my point. We are similar because we are all against unreasonable obstacles, and we are brave to love. David: Wow. It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Now, I know why Romeo loves you so much!

18 101 年度湖口國小英語文競賽題目 指導老師 : 徐瑞芬 My Hobbies Yang: I really like basketball. I play it every weekend. Ken: Yeah. I like basketball, too. But I m too short. Yang: I heard that playing basketball makes you grow taller. Ken: I think basketball is the most exciting sport. Yang: Did you see that 3-point shot by Jeremy Lin? It was amazing! Ken: Bang! A 3-pointer as the shot clock expired! Yang: Many people don t know this, but basketball was actually invented by a Canadian. He was a teacher named James Naismith. Ken: That s right. Back in 1891, he needed an indoor sport for his students to play during the cold winters. So he hung a peach basket on the wall, and basketball was born. Yang: The ball had to be taken out with a stick after each shot. Ken: Using a net is a much better idea. Yang: I agree. The uniforms have also changed. Players used to wear long-sleeved shirts until they realized this made shooting more difficult. Ken: Nowadays every player is in baggy shorts and oversized jerseys. Yang: The sport sure has come a long way. Ken : Speaking of which, let s get back to the game.
