1 Rhythm Games founder Janelle Burdell offers drumming and rhythm-based programs that provide a fun, safe and supportive setting for everyone to experience the benefits of group hand drumming, an ancient art form that has many physical, emotional and sociological benefits. Drumming helps us connect to our inner rhythms beginning with our heartbeat and fosters a sense of well-being that carries over into other aspects of life. Rhythm Games workshops, clinics and master classes are designed to encourage inner strength and composure build a sense of self-confidence improve fine motor skills improve communication skills build and strengthen community promote respect for and understanding of differences cultivate collaborative leadership skills RG Promo 1
2 Rhythm Games programs include: Hit This! A general drum circle event for 10 to 50 participants, lasting 1 to 1.5 hours. Participants will learn basic drum circle techniques while using djembes and other rhythm instruments such as shakers and tambourines to create basic rhythms. Some drums provided. All drums welcome. Fee: $350 Large room (and permission to make noise) armless chairs Udu Drum Circle Preferred size: 5-25 participants Fee: $ Participants carpets medium size room with low to medium-height ceilings and open floor space (Udu drums played while seated on floor.) The Udu is a percussive instrument based on the Nigerian clay vessel played by Ibo women for ceremonial purposes. The Udu never gets too loud and therefore is especially adaptive to healing environments or public spaces in which drumming volumes need to be kept down. The Udu is especially good for working with autistic clients. Because the Udu is fragile additional transportation costs apply. All workshops can substitute Udu Drums for Djembes.
3 Rhythm Games Lite A program designed for people in senior centers, nursing homes and assisted living communities. Participants utilize lightweight rhythm instruments such as shakers and tambourines and boomwackers, but no drums. Fees: One hour program for participants: $150. Thirty-five to 40 minute program for 5-25 participants: $100 Drum Journey 2 A program designed to facilitate conflict resolution for at-risk youth, juvenile delinquents, and jailed offenders. Participants utilize djembes and learn basic rhythms during the first part of the session and then participate in a facilitated dialogue about the experience. Works with Counselors Large room (and permission to make noise) 20 armless chairs 20 Djembes (provided by RG) for more information and pricing Additional travel and shipping costs may apply
4 Rhythm Games founder Janelle Burdell, a professional drummer and educator who has worked with everyone from Disney to the Dead, has developed a series of rhythm games that carry health and wellness packed in a barrel of fun. In addition to programs for the general population, Rhythm Games has programs designed for special needs clients as well. Master classes for Professionals available upon request.
