1 BRAZILIAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA INTERNATIONAL AUDITIONS NOTICE 2013 FOR 2014 SEASON The Brazilian Symphony Orchestra Foundation (BSOF) announces its auditions for the following positions at the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (BSO): VIOLIN Spalla - 1 position Category III (Assistant - Second Violins) - 1 position Category Tutti - 3 positions VIOLA Category I (Soloist) 1 position Category Tutti - 2 positions VIOLONCELLO Category III (Assistant) - 1 position DOUBLE BASS Category Tutti - 1 position FLUTE Category II (Piccolo and Flute) - 1 position

3 COMPENSATION (2014 Season Salary) Employment conditions shall be in compliance with the Brazilian Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), including a year-end bonus (13 th salary) and paid vacation (plus 1/3 salary**), health care insurance, local public transportation tickets and FGTS*. One monthly salary per year in case of dismissal. ** Vacation: salary plus 1/3 of monthly wages is paid when the musician has its vacation period. *** The concert bonus per month value is according to the 2014 season. AUDITION DATES Flutes, Oboes, Bassoons French horns, Trumpets, Tubas and Percussion / Timpani Violins and Violoncellos Violas and Double Basses December 10 th December 11 th December 17 th December 18 th SCHEDULES - The auditions will take mornings and afternoons; - After the curriculum reviews, the candidates will be informed about the schedule for their audition; All candidates must arrive 30 minutes before their audition scheduled time.

4 VENUE OF AUDITION - Audition location will be: Cidade das Artes (City of Arts) - BSO Rehearsal Room Av das Américas 5300 Barra da Tijuca Rio de Janeiro / RJ How to get at the Cidade das Artes by bus: disembark at Alvorada Terminal and pass under a short viaduct on the left, and it is already inside the Cidade das Artes. Travel, lodging and local transportation expenses are of the candidates solely responsibility. Parking: Cidade das Artes has a parking lot and all expenses are of the candidates solely responsibility. REGISTRATIONS - Registration must be submitted by selecao@osb.com.br ; - Candidates must send their Registration Form correctly filled out by , and a copy of the following documents: Curriculum Vitae (two pages maximum) and Passport (pages with photo and personal information); - Only the candidates with pre-approved curriculums will be heard. - There is no charge to apply; - Only the registrations received until December 2 nd, 8 PM (Brasília time) will be accepted; - The registration will be confirmed by until December 4 th. Those candidates who don t receive the confirmation by December 4 th should contact BSO by selecao@osb.com.br; - Registrations will not be accepted at the BSO office or by conventional mail; - Registrations will only be accepted upon submission of all the necessary documentation. 5 GENERAL CONDITIONS - The candidates should provide their pianist to accompany the audition and all the fees expenses will be of their own responsibilities; - Copies of documents and orchestral excerpts pieces submitted will not be returned.; - Candidates must present the program for their instrument contained in the appendix entitled Audition Repertory, available on the BSO website; - Candidates living outside of the city of Rio de Janeiro should pay for all travel and accommodation expenses. Please see the suggestions for accommodation nearby the Cidade das Artes at: - The candidate has to bring two copies of the free choice score piece to the audition; - Orchestral excerpts are available for download on the BSO International Audition official website The orchestra will not provide copies of the excerpts in print; - BSO reserves the right to leave available positions unfilled; - The audition may be interrupted at any time; - The orchestral excerpts indicated for each position may be requested by the jury in any round - BSO will provide assistance for candidates at the following contact: selecao@osb.com.br. - The Jury s decisions are final.
