Enjoy the most spectacular Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture the city has to offer. Join us for an in-depth visit to the Prague Castle complex. The tour includes admission to and a guided walk around the major buildings within the castle: St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica and Golden Lane. This sightseeing tour is part by air-conditioned coach, but mostly on foot. After picking you up from your Prague hotel, we drive up to the castle to begin the tour. Tour Description: Prague Old Town Step into the Old Town Square in Prague and journey back in time, 600 or 700 years. As you stand in awe, the dramatic history of Prague permeates the air. The Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) is one of two main squares in Prague (Wenceslas Square is the other, just 5 minutes walk away). With its ancient buildings and magnificent churches, this is one of the most beautiful historical sights in Europe. The Old Town Square dates from the 12th century and started life as the central marketplace for Prague. Over the centuries buildings of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles were erected around the market, each bringing with them stories of wealthy merchants and political intrigue.the most notable sights on the square are the Old Town Hall Tower & Astronomical Clock, Tyn Church and St. Nicholas Church.To fully appreciate the beauty of the Old Town Square, sit back and soak up the atmosphere over a coffee or a cool beer at one of the pavement cafés lining the square. Or climb the Old Town Hall Tower for a stunning view over the square. Depending on the itinerary of the Estate Theatre, you will enjoy an insite visit of this opera house, where Amadeus Mozart himself conducted the world premiere of his Don Giovanni in Estate Theatre, the place where Mozart conducted his operas fort he Prague audience when he left Vienna, because his works were no accepted there. Tour Description: Jewish Town The Jewish Quarter Walking Tour in Prague traces the history of what was once the largest Jewish ghetto in Europe. The tour embraces the history, traditions and legends of the Jewish people in Prague, from their early settlements in the 10th century, through their enforced isolation, the poverty of the pogrom refugees, and the horrors of the 20th century. 11 through the ages: how they lived, worked and survived in the Jewish Quarter, of their successes and of their failures. The story vividly unfolds as we explore the synagogues, the cemetery and the streets of the former Jewish ghetto. Why for instance, were people buried ten deep, one on top of the other? Who was the famous Golem? And how, despite the terrible purges of the Nazi occupation, did the beautiful monuments in the Jewish Quarter survive? The Jewish Quarter forms an integral part of the history of Prague. With so much of that history contained within the monuments of the Jewish Museum, a walking tour led by a professional guide is the only way to gain an understanding of its significance. As we tour the Jewish Quarter, we'll also discover a little of the life Franz Kafka, the famous author born and raised here. Tour Description: Historical Berlin city tour You will visit the most beautiful historical square of Berlin - Gendarmenmarkt, the Museum Island, the Berliner Dom, pass the Niederkirchnerstraße, which was in 1951 the Prinz-Albrecht-Straße and where you can see nowadays an old part of the Berlin Wall. In the west part of the city see the KaDeWe - one of the largest and most magnificent department stores on continental Europe which invites you to shop and window shop, the boulevard Kurfürstendamm (the heart of the western part of Berlin), the impressive Castle Bellevue & Castle Charlottenburg which is now the official residence of the federal president in Berlin and the Jewish museum with its impressing architecture in Kreuzberg. 13 Day 8 Friday, June 28, 2019 Berlin Breakfast 9:00AM 12:00 PM: Fifth Tour: Wall Museum, Checkpoint Charlie, and boat cruise. Tour Description: The house at Checkpoint Charlie shows the history of the Berlin Wall and the division of Berlin. The Wall museum is one of the most visited museums in Berlin. It presents an exhibition on the history of the Berlin Wall and the partition of Berlin. The "Checkpoint Charlie" was the most famous border crossing in Berlin, which was open only to foreigners, diplomats and members of the Allied forces. Then the tour will take you to a one-hour boat cruise through the historical part of Berlin. During the cruise, you will see the Castle Bellevue, the residence of the president of Germany, the Reichstag, the house of Cultures, the famous Friedrichstraße, the maginificent monument of modern Architecture Hauptbahnhof, the Museum Island, the Nikolaiviertel, as well as the TV Tower. 14 Day 9 Saturday, June 29, 2019 day trip to Potsdam, return to Prague in the evening Breakfast 9:00 AM: check-out and store the luggage on private coach 10:00 AM 5:00 PM: Sixth Tour: Potsdam. Tour Description: Potsdam is known as the site of the 1945 international conference that divided Germany and Berlin for the next 44 years. But Potsdam is much more: an historic residence of the 17th and 18th century Prussian royalty, as well as a lively modern city combining industry with green parks and cobbled streets. See the old and new city of Potsdam: the Dutch Quarter, St. Nicholas Church, the Russian Quarter, Historical Town Hall, Old Royal Stables, Nauen Gate. The guides will take you to visit the beautiful Castle Sanssouci and discover the unique beauty of the wide-spread garden of Sanssouci during an impressive walk, passing the famouse tea house, the Orangerie and the Neues Palais. Neues Palais, or The New Castle, can be an absolute highlight of any tour because of its largely preserved interior decoration. The Grotto Hall, decorated with precious stones, and the Marble Hall are particularly worth seeing. We will also visit the Castle Cecilienhof, designed as a residence for the heir to the throne and his family. This castle was built on the model of an English timber-framed manor house. At this place the legendary Potsdam Conference has taken place the treaty defining the role of the victors in the occupation and future of Germany after the Second World War. 15 Costs and Payment Schedule: Total cost is 2295 Euros (For example: at an exchange purchase rate of 1.15 = $ ) per person, based on double occupancy. This includes events, accommodations, transfers, & all tips, gratuity, and VAT taxes described in the day to day itinerary and specifically itemized on the inclusions page. This price does not include roundtrip airfare to Prague. Single supplement occupancy is 1875 Euros additional. Note that single rooms are limited. Triple rooms are occasionally available and the cost per person is the same as double room occupancy, 2295 Euros per person. At the time of receiving your group s FIRST PER PERSON DEPOSIT with MidAm International, Inc., your dollar purchase exchange rate for your ensemble will become fixed and firm and this dollar amount is computed based on the dollar purchase exchange rate for that day which is published at the end of the business day in all newspapers. Please note that MidAm will add.1 to the total published bank rate to cover dollar to euro wire and transfer costs as well as any and all bank commissions charged by our European Bank (Alpha Bank). From this point forward the dollar amount for this program will remain unchanged, regardless of whether the dollar weakens or strengthens for the remainder of your payment deposits. This tour is priced in EUROS because all travel services in Europe are paid in EUROS, not dollars, to the providers. Spouses, friends, and families are welcome to be part of the residency. COMPLIMENTARY PACKAGES FOR EARLY DEPOSITS The initial per-person deadline for registration for this residency is November 15, A free land package (based on double occupancy) is provided for every thirty persons who register by November 15, 2018 (30 registrations then #31 is free; registrations of 32 to 61 then #62 is free; registrations 63 to 92 then #93 is free, etc). The initial per-person first payment on the package is $400 per-person (see below). An additional free bonus land package (based on double occupancy) is provided for every 30 registrants if the initial per-person registration occurs by June 1, For example, if you register with 30 paid persons by November 15, 2018 you receive 1 complimentary land package free (30+1). However, if those 30 persons would register by June 1, 2018 an early registration bonus occurs with an additional complimentary land package, so, it is or 32 total. This bonus only applies to registrations which occur by this early deposit date of June 1, If you should later add an additional 30 persons by November 15, 2018 then only 1 additional complimentary land package occurs which, in this case, would be 3 bonus packages: Note: If the conductor is a "guest conductor", with a chorus of minimum 60, his free package does not count in the above calculation. The first one on June 24 will feature the visiting guest conductors and their 60 voice choirs with Virtuosi di Praga and world-class soloists; the second concert on June 26 will combine all of the choirs in a major oratorio with Virtuosi di Praga and world-class soloists under a special guest conductor. 2. One a cappella sacred music concert in Berlin on June 28 (for those choirs who choose to perform under their own directors). A minimum of three groups must agree to do the a cappella solo performance before it can go forward. 3. Distinguished guest conductors. 4. Virtuosi di Praga is the residency orchestra. 5.
