3 Overview The MX-GS200 combines A/V programming, digital signage data, device commands & controls, and other content onto a single Multi-program MPEG Transport Stream (MPTS) for distribution over coax or wireless networks. The input streams are either generated by the MX-GS200 streamer/data carousels or provided as an input to the MX-GS200 over the gigabit Ethernet connections. As shown in Figure 1, the output of the MX-GS200 is modulated onto a single carrier frequency and combined with other signals on the RF network where it is delivered to TVs, computers, the RX-WP100 digital signage receiver, and other Flex-DK enabled devices. The integrated broadcast quality multiplexer ensures A/V compatibility with consumer and commercial TVs. Broadcast transports, such as satellite, terrestrial TV, and cable TV distribute one transport stream per broadcast frequency. Devices that create transport streams typically create one audio/video (A/V) program per transport stream. A multiplexer, such as the one in the MX-GS200, can combine multiple transport streams containing one A/V program into one transport stream containing many A/V programs, thus enabling the distribution of multiple A/V programs in a single frequency. This increases the program distribution capability of the satellite, cable, or terrestrial broadcast transports. A program stream within the MPTS can also contain one or more streams of data. Data streams can be used to deliver files to enabled receivers. The RX-WP100 receives commands, configuration, software updates, display controls, and digital signage content using a data stream. The FlexDK SDK can be integrated into TVs, computers, or other embedded devices to enable file reception and other features. Broadcast transports, such as cable and terrestrial TV, are used distribute programming in stadiums, hotels, hospitals, houses of worship, large retail stores, apartment buildings, education facilities and commercial office space. All of these venues can take advantage of the MX-GS200 features. The multiplexer inputs can come from a number of MPEG2 Transport Strea. This includes: Commercial media players such as those from BrightSign Video capture devices which capture HDMI or VGA images and convert to a transport stream. I.e. Epiphan VGA/DVI Broadcaster Digital video encoders both professional and consumer Personal computer software such as VLC or ffmpeg Data from other multiplexers. The MX-GS200 gigabit Ethernet port receives the MPTS from these devices using UDP or UDP RTP protocols. After being processed by the multiplexer, the MPTS output is provided to the next device via USB or Ethernet. For example, it could target a LAN It can be consumed directly by LAN based computers, IPTV set top boxes, or network TVs, or delivered to TVs or traditional broadcast receivers when output to a modulator. When using traditional broadcast receivers, the MPTS must be encoded, signaled, and modulated so as to be compatible with the receiving equipment. For example, the ATSC transport cannot exceed mb/s, the video must be MPEG2 encoded, the audio AC3 format, and PSIP signaling must be included. 6

The mux can be configured to be compatible with most of the common broadcast and cable transports. The input streams must be encoded properly and the sum of the data rates should not exceed the available bandwidth. When possible, the MX-GS200 will warn the user of incompatibilities. 4 Products & Services 4.1 MX-GS200 The MX-GS200 provides all of the signaling, multiplexing, content streaming, and data carousels necessary to create a complete broadcast transport stream. 9 o < 750 5V DC external power supply Operating temperature range: o -10 to + 60 degrees C. West Pond receivers are designed to operate as the slave to a host. The MX-GS200 can host a near infinite number of receivers. To host a receiver, simply add it to the managed receiver list. For more information see the FAQs at the end of this document Managed mode In managed mode the receiver state is controlled by the FlexStream Multiplexer (aka MX-GS200). A list of all managed receivers is maintained in the multiplexer. The state of the receiver and its display are set via the multiplexer Web UI. The data carousel delivers targetable state to each receiver which in turn sets its state to reflect the MX-GS200 WebUI settings. Managed mode is detected by the receiver during a channel scan. Channel scan occurs on boot, when it is manually initiated, or if signal lock is lost for 5 minutes. Once the managed signal is detected the scan stops and the device immediately enters managed mode. When in managed mode: The RX will remain in this state until a manual scan is initiated via the 5 second CHNL button press or if the serial number is removed from the MX-GS200. The RX CHNL button channel change is disabled and the INFO button is controlled by the MX- GS200 state for that RX. The RX state is controlled by MX-GS200. State includes: o Use of the RX buttons o Scanning logic (always looks for MX-GS200 generated signal) o Channel setting o Display settings Power on/standby, volume, etc. Supported brands: Ciil, Samsung, Philips, & Sharp displays. More on request. o Alerts Crawl (scrolling marquee) Informative (blended text with video) Priority (text only) The RX software can be updated via broadcast control channel o Carousel from MX-GS Degraded mode Receivers (RX) enter degraded mode if the CHNL button is pressed for 5 seconds. This button press also begins a channel scan. If the receiver does not detect the host during a scan the receiver will operate in degraded mode. In degraded mode the channel map discovered during the scan consists of all channels discovered. The CHNL button of the receiver can be tapped (quick press) to cycle through that channel list. If the receiver is power cycled, only the currently tuned frequency is remembered. As such, pressing the CHNL button on the RX will only show the subchannels that share the frequency with the current channel. Receivers exit degraded mode, and enter managed mode, if the RX discovers a managed channel during a scan. When in degraded mode receivers will: 9

On power loss, retain only the current frequency and tune to that frequency on boot. Will rescan for channels and create a complete channel map when the CHNL button is pressed for 5 seconds. Allow a user to manually select the channel via a quick press of the CHNL button Display signal information on screen when the INFO button is pressed 4.4 FlexDK SDK The Flex-DK Software Development Kit provides the software, in source code form, necessary for West Pond customers to enable datacasting capabilities in TVs and other devices with broadcast TV tuners. This open source software is licensed for use with WPT products. Each licensee receives a certificate that is used to enable the MX-GS200 (host) to sign the datacasting signaling. The certificate can be installed or deleted on any MX-GS200. Certificates allow the FlexDK user to protect against unauthorized targeting of data to the target receivers. Devices that integrate the FlexDK without certificates are supported however without certificates the network does not provide any protection from third party tampering. 4.5 FlexDM remote management This web service allows you to manage any of the FlexStream devices via the Internet. The MX-GS200 supports this feature. The web service is under construction and will be available for use in the near future. 10

5 MX, MD, RX Quick Setup 5.1 Connecting the wires Below are the instructions to quickly setup the MX-GS200, MD-100, and RX-WP100 when shipped as a kit from West Pond. When received as a kit from West Pond, the RX-WP100 serial number will have already been entered into the MX-GS200 managed receiver list, the modulator will be preconfigured for the tuner (DVB-T or ATSC) in the RX-WP100, and the channel maps for the receivers and modulator are compatible. This simplifies the installation so that the user can quickly user and/or experiment with the end to end system. In addition the MX, MD, and RX you will need an HDMI compatible display, AC power, and for wired connections a coax cable long enough to reach between the MD and RX units. The diagram below shows the connections between each. 1) Connect the USB cable between the MD-100 and one of the MX-GS200 USB ports. 2) Power to the MX-GS200 and verify that all 4 LEDs are lit solid. If not, see the FAQ section in Appendix A for trouble shooting information. 3) If this is a wired (coax) installation, connect the MD-100 to the SMA/F adapter, then connect the coax cable. Connect the 10 db attenuator to the RX coax and then the attenuator to the RX-WP100 or directly to the TV for installations not using the RX products. See image to right. The 10 db attenuator can go on the other end of the coax as long as it is prior to the distribution splitters. 4) If this is a wireless installation, connect the SMA antenna to both MD-100 and the F connector antenna to the MX- WP100. To start, place both units in the same room, preferably within sight of each other. 5) Connect the HDMI cable between the RX-WP100 and the display. 6) Power the display. 7) If using the RX-WP100, power the RX-WP100 and watch the screen. After 10 seconds the display should show either video content, or a still image of the FlexStream logo. If it does not, set the display input to reflect the HDMI port to which the RX-WP100 is attached. 8) If the coax wire is cabled directly to the TV use your TV remote to scan for the channels. a. Select CableTV, not broadcast TV. b. Select US standard cable TV channel map (may be automatic) c. Scan d. Navigate through the channels until you find one with the FlexStream Logo (in motion). e. If the FlexStream Logo channel is not visible, check the MX-GS200 configuration to find the channel configuration (see next step) or see Appendix A for help with configuring a cable network. 9) Use a wifi enabled computer and associate with the MX-GS200. Login and view the channel lineup on the Overview page. See Appendix A for more information. 11

5.2 Network setup The MX-GS200 has two gigabit network ports. They are marked LAN and WAN. Traffic on the WiFi (WLAN) has access to devices on the LAN port but not the WAN port. The LAN port is protected from the WAN with a NAT firewall. By default, the LAN port has a DHCP server enabled. DO NOT CONNECT THE LAN PORT TO A DHCP ENABLED LAN WITHOUT DISABLING THE DHCP SERVICE. IP video streams on either the LAN or WAN can be included in the output multiplex. The output of the multiplexor can be routed to either the LAN or WAN port, multicast or unicast. The WebUI of the MX-GS200 is accessible from the WLAN, LAN or WAN. A typical installation is configured as follows. WAN: Connected to a house network that provides the network configuration via DHCP. Ideally this network would have a gateway to the Internet. LAN: Connected to a network used for video. This network is suitable for supporting other capture and streaming devices that can be used as multiplexor video sources. If using a networked modulator or other output destination it is best to put it on this network. WLAN: Used for device management only. No suitable for video streaming. It is best to use this port to configure or find the status of the LAN and WAN ports, then access the device via the wired network. 6 Management The FlexStream product line core feature is manageability. 6.1 MX-GS200 LEDs The LEDs represent the state of the hardware and software and can be used to assist in the device installation as well as to monitor its status. 12

LED state Description Power Off No power to device Power LED: Off: Power to the device is off On: The device is powered on Status LED: Off: System is off or booting On: System is running normally Blinking: USB command stick is being processed Mux LED: Off: Mux has not initialized (booting or powered off) On: Mux is receiving and transmitting packets with no errors Blinking: Mux is oversubscribed or streams errors were detected Only valid after Status LED is lit. Modulator LED: Off: USB modulator has not been detected. On: USB modulator has been detected or a UDP modulator is in use. Blinking: Error with modulator Only valid after Status LED is lit. 6.2 Factory defaults Factory defaults can be set by holding the mode switch down during reboot. (Not implemented in release 1.11) Web UI The Web UI of the MX-GS200 is fundamentally self-explainable and changes with each release it is therefore not documented in this user guide. The default user/password for the MX-GS200 is administrator/admin. FAQ information is provided in Appendix A of this document. 6.3 Software updates The FlexStream Multiplexer supports software updates via three methods. Web UI USB Command Sticks FlexDM Web UI software updates. See Appendix A for more information. WPE will provide a script and update package. These two files are copied to the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB storage device. The storage device should be inserted into a working unit. The Status LED will blink as the script is being processed. When complete, LEDs will return to normal. FlexDM software updates will be available for customer use with release of the MX-GS Remote access The FlexDM remote access feature will be available for customer use with release of the MX- GS200. Please contact WPE for status and for information about creating an online account to manage you device. 13

7 FlexStream Receiver (RX-WP100 ) 7.1 Tuning The receiver automatically performs a channel scan on first power on. If a display is connected, the OSD status will show scanning progress. The scan will continue until the receiver discovers it is managed by a FlexStream multiplexer, a multiplexer is discovered, or other OTA channels are discovered and the channel scan is complete. The channel button is used to select the channel unless the receiver is in managed mode. 7.2 Display support The FlexStream Receiver has an RS-232 cable for controlling compatible displays. Some displays require the user of a null modem cable. An adapter has been supplied for these models. Consult your display documentation to determine requirement. Display support varies by manufacturer. The display associated with each RX unit is configured in the MX-GS200 WebUI. Please report any display control anomalies to support@westpond.com. 7.3 Receiver (RX) software updates The MX-WP100, and other West Pond RX devices, will receive software updates from the MX-GS200 over the file carousel on the RF link. If the RX is used without the MX-GS200, the micro SD card must be removed from the device to update the software. Software updates are provided via the West Pond FTP server. Visit support on for more information on obtaining the software update package. See Appendix A below for specific instructions on creating the RX software update carousel. 8 File Carousels The MX-GS200 supports file distribution to the RX-WP100 and third party devices that have been enabled with the FlexDK. Carousels are used to deliver configuration information, software updates, and digital signage content. 8.1 Enabling your device Each FlexDK integrator that wishes to utilize the networks anti-spoofing protection is provided with a unique certificate which is used with the SDK to protect the device from unauthorized access. This certificate is integrated with the SDK into the receiver device software. A version of this certificate is also installed on the MX-GS200 where it is used to sign signaling data for carousel files targeting that device. Certificates can be installed on the MX-GS200 via the Web UI. The MX-GS200 supports more than one certificate and as such more than one target. The FlexDK integrated with a certificate will ignore all files that are not signed with the integrated certificate. FlexDKs integrated without a certificate will ignore all carousel files that have been signed with a certificate. Without a certificate, device compatibility is limited to the uniqueness of the device_model and device_serial fields in the carousel signaling. 14

8.2 File targeting and paths Files on the carousel have targeting strings, such as and path strings such as /files/sw-update. These are concatenated into one long path on the carousel. For example, in the images below we have Three carousels: RCA Commercial, RCA-Secure, WPT-Test. These names are arbitrary and are not visible to the SDK. Two Models on the WPT-Test carousel: Model1, Model2. These strings are matched to the FlexDK variable device_model. The strings are case sensitive. The serial # target which the FlexDK interprets as a wildcard for all serial numbers. This release of the MX-GS200 software does not support SN groups other The FlexDK path of Config/ with one carousel file Model1.cfg in that folder. More information on this topic is provided with the FlexDK. 15

9 How do I access the MX-GS200 management web page? 1) Using Ethernet, connect your computer directly to the LAN port and browse to 2) Using the management WiFi, select the MX-GS200-xxxxxx SSID from the network and connection sharing center and browse to a. xxxxxx is the last 6 numbers of the serial number. You can find this on the bottom lable of the MX-GS200. 3) Login administrator with password admin. 10 What version of software am I running? 1) Browse to the MX-GS200 management web page. 2) At the bottom of the page is a footer with the following information. MX-GS200 (DS ) v Model Name: MX-GS200 Serial number: DS Software Version: V How do I update the software on my MX-GS200 and RX-WP100? 1) Confirm you have the latest software by comparing the version number of currently running software (What version of software am I running?) with the software on the WPE support ftp site. ftp://ftp.westpond.com/releases/mx-gs200 login: support password: flexstream 2) The latest software will have the highest number. The version numbering scheme is major.minor.patch. In the example to the right, fs-dsm has the most significant major.minor.patch number. If there is a newer folder, select it. 17

18 3) There are typically two packages in a release. One for the MX-GS200 firmware, the other for the RX-WP100 receiver software which is distributed by the MX-GS200 to receivers tuned to one of the MX-GS200 channels. It is best to install both, so download both files from the FTP site. Store them on your computer and remember the location. i.e. C:\downloads\MX-GS200. 4) Update the MX-GS200 first. Browse to the Firmware page on the MX-GS200 management Web page and click Choose File. Select the package you want to update. In this case we want to update the MX-GS200 firmware, which you downloaded to C:\downloads\MX- GS200\flexstream-dsm pkg. After the file has uploaded, click Update to install the update. a. Hint: dsm = MX-GS200, dsr = RX-WP100 5) To update the RX-WP100, we need to replace the current update on the file carousel. The first step is to verify that you have a carousel Flexstream, if so then skip to step 6. To verify this, navigate to the Receivers/Files page and see if the Flexstream Carousel exists. See image.. If it does not exist, add it using the Create Carousel button. On the popup, type the name Flexstream (CASE IS IMPORTANT) and then select Choose File and navigate to the WPE carousel.pem file. (see mx-gs200 folder on ftp site). When done, click create. See image to the right 6) Now that you have a carousel, we need to create the folder structure so that the software update will be placed in the correct folder of the RX-WP100. First verify that the folder is not already there. On the same page as the Carousels, we create carousel folders. Using the pulldown under the Files section, select Flexstream as the carousel. If the RX100 folder is present in the Flexstream carousel folder directory, skip to Step 7. If not, create the required folders by clicking on New Folder and typing in the name RX100. Case is important. After saving, the RX100 folder

will appear in the folder list - click on it. The current working directory is shown to the right of the carousel selection pulldown. You should now see Flexstream in the pulldown and /RX100/ to the right of it. Select New Folder again and this time create folder. After saving, click so that the current working directory is now /RX100/@all/. 7) Set the current working folder to Flexstream/RX100/@all/ by clicking on the folders in the Files section of the Receiver/Files page. See the image above. Click Upload File and choose the dsr-wp100 file downloaded from the ftp site and give it the same name. When the upload is complete, you are done. 8) The RX-WP100 will reboot after the update is transmitted and installed. The INFO OSD will display the new version number. In most cases, this takes about 10 minutes. 12 How do I re-order the channels in my channel map? 1) The order to which minor channel numbers are assigned is the order in which they were created. To set the order, delete all channels and add them in the order you wish them assigned. 2) Delete all network and internal streams by selecting the icon at the end of each input defined. Be sure to write down the information so that you can add it again. 3) Add the inputs in the correct order using the New Input button on the /Channels/Network page and Create Channel on the /Channels/Streamer page. a. Name the stream. This will be displayed on the RX-WP100 OSD. b. IP Port assigned to the input stream. c. IP address, only used when receiving multicast streams. d. Interface. Select the interface on which the stream is sourced. 13 What is managed mode and how do I use it? The RX-WP100 receivers, and the display they are attached to, can be managed from the MX-GS200 WebUI. Use this feature to set the sub-channel that is tuned by the receiver, put the display (TV) in 19

standby mode, or set the display (TV) volume. Some display manufactures provide additional settings. Each of these settings can be programmed to change state at any given time of day. The state can also be forced to change immediately. For example, you can set channel 5.1 at 13:00, at 15:00 change the channel to 5.3, and then at 19:00 change the channel to 5.2. Then, at 21:00, put the display into standby state until 08:00 when it is turned on again. Receivers are managed in groups. So the process to initiate this feature is to create a group, add a receiver and place it in the group, and then schedule events for the group. Remember, when a receiver is managed some buttons on the receiver are disabled. This is buy design to prevent tampering. 1) Adding a group. Groups are defined on the Receiver/Manage tab. Select New Group to add a group. 2) To add a receiver, navigate to the Receiver/Register page and click Add Receiver. (See image below on item 3) a. Enter a name for your receiver, and the serial number. Serial numbers can be found on the device s label or on the OSD when the Info button is pressed. Leading zeros are not required. b. Select the group you wish to manage this device through. c. Select the mechanism used to control the display state. On some displays this is RS-232. On consumer displays, HDMI- CEC is used as it does not require an additional RS-232 cable. HDMI-CEC is recommended. 3) Once added, the device will show up in the managed receiver list. 4) The next step is to set the receiver state. The receiver state is event driven. To control the state of a group of receivers, create an event and define the state for a particular time. The receivers will stay in that state until the next event. If there is only one event with a start time 00:00, 20

that event will control the state for all time. To manage a device in real time, create one event and edit it to change state. 5) To create an event select the Receiver Groups page and click on the schedule icon. Then select Insert Event or click on the edit icon to edit an event you previously created. a. Select the program you wish to be tuned to. b. Select the display (TV) power state. c. Select the volume of the TV. d. Click Save on the New/Edit Event popup. e. Click Save on the Control group scheduled events 14 How do I return my receiver to un-managed mode? Using the WebUI, navigate to the Receivers/Register page. Locate the line with the serial number of the RX unit you no longer wish to be in managed mode. Click the icon of the line for that serial number. Now go to the RX unit. Press and hold the Channel button on the RX-WP100 for 5 seconds, or until it starts to scan. When the scan completes, the receiver will display the first compatible channel selected. From this point on the channel can be controlled at the receiver. 15 What is un-managed mode? West Pond receivers (RX-WP100) can also operate in a simple mode where the receiver display state is maintained by the receiver and not dictated by the transmitter (MX-GS200). In this mode a scan is initiated when no broadcast is detected on the current frequency, or when the channel button is pressed and held for 5 seconds. When the receiver completes the scan it will have built a channel map of all the compatible channels that were discovered during the scan. Press the Channel button momentarily to cycle through all of the channels in the channel map. After power loss, the channel map will be lost. If the last viewed channel is still available, the receiver will tune to that and stay tuned until powered off or the channel is no longer received. After a period of time with no signal, the receiver will scan again. 16 I forgot the IP address configuration of the MX-GS200? Associate a computer with the WiFi AP, check your computers IP settings for the wifi gateway address and browse to the gateway address. The MX-GS200 web page will be accessible at this address. On 21

windows you can use ipconfig at the command line, or use the Network and Sharing Manager to discover the current wifi gateway address. 17 How do I stream files onto a new channel? To create a channel and stream video on that channel, files must be uploaded and a playlist must be created. The MX-GS200 streamer converts transport stream files (TS) to TV content on a sub channel (3.1, 3,2, etc). A TS file (.ts) contains audio and video data in a format similar to that which TVs receive from broadcast, cable or satellite transmitters. When creating the TS files, care must be taken to ensure compatibility with the target device. For example, if this is used in a hotel to create a hospitality channel, the stream should be encoded to be compatible with US TVs. Please contact WPT if you need assistance creating TS files. One - Upload TS files Two - Create a channel. Three - Create a playlist. 1) To upload a file, browse to the Channels/Streamer page and click on Upload Content. Choose the file to upload and give your file a descriptive name such as 2015CityFlyover and then click on Upload. The filename will also be preserved and displayed, so use the name to provide some additional information about this content. A list of uploaded content is displayed on the channel tab. To create a channel, browse to the Channels/Streamer page and click on Create Channel. Give the channel a name and click Create. A list of available programs is displayed on the channel tab. 2) To create or edit a playlist navigate to the Channels/Streamer tab, locate the channel you wish to edit, and click on the associated playlist icon. The Channel Playlist pop up displays the current play list. All files on the playlist are played in the order show. When the end of the list is reached, the first entry will be played again. The loop continues for ever. You may add the same file to a play list more than once. To 22

add a file to a playlist, select the file from the Content list and click Add. Use the icons to the right of each playlist entry to change its position in the list or to remove it from the list. When complete, click Save. After saving the playlist, the channel immediately begins playing and is included in the output multiplex. To verify this, navigate to the Output/Overview page and look for the streamer icon. The bit rate of each channel is determined by the content of each file assigned to that channel. For example, the first file may be 2000 kbps, and the second file in the playlist is 3000 kbps. The stream associated with this channel will show this and sufficient bandwidth must be allocated to ensure the multiplexed transport stream is not oversubscribed. An oversubscribed transport stream will have a NUL bitrate of 0 kbps. When this occurs, artifacts will be visible in the video display by the receiver. As video bitrates vary over time, and there are multiple video streams each varying over time, it is best to leave approximately 1000 kbps in the NUL bitrate stream at all times. 18 How much file storage is available? The system has approximately 3.5 Gigabytes of storage. This is sufficient for most for most uses. At this point we do not support expansion via external storage. To check on the available storage, navigate your browser to the System/Info page and check the Storage information to check on storage availability. 19 How large of a file can I upload? The maximum file size is currently 512 MB. 20 How do I use the MX-GS200 to add channels to an in-house cable TV network? Integrating the MX-GS200 with existing in-house cable TV networks, such as those used in hotels, arenas, hospitals and schools, requires coordination with the existing network. To successfully integrate, the following steps must be taken: 23

1) Find an unused channel (bandwidth) on which the MX-GS200/MD-100 can modulate our video. This can be done by analyzing/configuring the existing equipment, by scanning the network with a TV and looking for gaps in the channel lineup, or with a signal meter. More information here: 2) Configure the MX- GS200 output to use an open/unoccupied channel. Make sure you have the correct channel map note the (US Cable) next to the channel selection. If this is not there, you must install the US Cable TV channel map before proceeding. Select the Channel, Modulation Standard (ATSC /US Cable), and Modulation (Cable QAM256). The power level is best left at 5 until the channel is tunable. 3) Save, and then scan you TV or wait for the RX-WP100 scan to autodetect the network. 21 The TV or RX-WP100 do not find the MD-100 channel, what do I do? Before doing anything, read this document and make sure you have correctly configured the hardware to work with your network. If after doing this, you are still unable to find the MX-GS200/MD-100 channel, then it is possible your RF network is improperly designed. The diagram below shows a welldesigned RF network. Note that all of the video sources are combined and balanced before amplification or distribution and that the loading on the distribution side is evenly balanced between receivers. Make sure your network is similarly configured before proceeding. Below are some additional diagnostic steps to take. 1) Connect the cable directly from the modulator to the receiver/tv (include attenuator) and verify that the signal is not available. See quick start section of this document for more information on this configuration. If the signal cannot be detected the problem is with the modulator, modulator signal strength, or the TV/receiver. If the signal can be detected, the problem is with the RF distribution network. 2) Measure the signal strength of both the existing cable TV channels as well as the MX-GS200 channels at the point where they are to be combined. Both sources should be similar in strength. If you do not have a signal meter, a good TV often be used to measure the signal strength of the house channels and new (MX-GS200) channels. Use the MX-GS200 webui to adjust the output power. Remove the 10 DB attenuator if necessary to match the power levels. Try again to receive the signals on the RF distribution (cable TV) network. 3) Verify that other channels, specifically those from other channels, are tunable. If so, there may be a signal collision. Remove the existing inhouse cable TV network from the combiner input. 24

Rescan the TV or RX-WP100. If the channel is discovered, there is a collision. Find and open channel and start again. 22 How do I send an alert for all RX-WP100 units to display? Alerts provide a mechanism to put a message on one or all of the RX-WP100 units using only the coax wire to send the information. Alerts target receiver groups, as such, to use this feature you need to have one or more receiver (RX) in managed mode. Select Alerts from the MX-GS200 WebUI and then click on New Template. Templates are saved for future use. A template contains the text to be displayed and what type of alert to generate. There are three types: Crawl (scrolling marquee) Informative (blended text with video) Priority (text only, no video visible) Enter the text and select the type of message you would like to display. Save the template. Once the template is saved it can be used at any time to generate an alert. To Activate an alert, click on the + icon to the right of the Alert template. In the Activate Alert dialog box, select the amount of 25

time (seconds where 0 is infinite) you want the alert to be active, make any changes you wish for this instance of the alert, select one or more target groups, and click create. Within seconds the alert will be visible on the RX screen. 26
