The test is per module; all three channels in a given module must have an active temperature reading to pass the test - dummy probe can be any probe unused by any of the modules being tested, probe does not need to be mounted OK FOR TESTING OMITTED FROM TEST Check if sentry model is correct

There is countdown timer which displays the remaining time STIMULUS CHECK USING TEMPEARTURE RISE - Select fibers for stimulus check and name them - Use the heat gun on end of fibers to increase the temperature. EXAMPLE MAX TEMPERATURE SET ON HEATGUN CANNOT EXCEED 240 F OR 120 C AS FIBRE WILL MELT IF THERE IS TEMPREATURE INCREASE ON CORRESPONDING FIBERS AS PER ID NAME CHECK THE FIBERS DONE Press the OK button once all fibre locations have been verified and the boxes checked as DONE.

10 Title: File : B--FIELD-TEST.DOCX Page: 10 of 37 STIMULUS CHECK USING CONTROLLED FIBER BEND - For quick identification of the fiber at Sentry BriteSpot - Bend the fiber using FIBER ID-JIG - Upon being bent or un-bent the fibres BriteSpot Channel will indicate RED for approximately 60s due to the change in attenuation STIMULUS CHECK USING CONTROLLED FIBER BEND - Bend the fiber by using FIBER ID-JIG - The cable being bend will display temperature -999 F or -999 C - LED on unit should go RED. - LED will stay RED for 10s. After 10s will be the attenuation calibrated automatically and LED will turn GREEN again. - IF THERE IS TEMPERATURE DROP ON CORRESPONDING FIBERS AS PER ID NAME CHECK THE FIBERS DONE AS PER STIMULUS CHECK PICTURE - Press the OK button once all fibre locations have been verified and the boxes checked as DONE.

31 Title: File : B--FIELD-TEST.DOCX Page: 31 of 37 7 ARM CHECK & PRETEST Tools list Any screwdriver N/A Typical DMM (digital multimeter) N/A Process CHECK THE HEIGHT OF SENSORS - RACK IN and RACK out height of the shelf must be1/16 to 1/8" - when the breaker is in, the sensors shall be about ¼ to ½ inch above the sensing plate - To check functionality, move any metal object through the gap. (screwdriver is ideal) And check the YELLOW LED indicator on the sensor or GREEN LED indicators on on Sentry. See 01.4IB48030 for more details. ¼ to ½ 1/16 to 1/8"

33 Title: File : B--FIELD-TEST.DOCX 8 CONTROLLED FIBER BEND PROCEDURE (FIBER ID) Page: 33 of 37 Tools list Fiber identification test JIG FIBER ID-JIG Process USE FIBER ID JIG AS PER PICTURE - Press the trigger and hold it - Clip the Fiber ID JIG on the fiber you want to test - Release the trigger LED turns RED = Fiber identified JIG CLIPPED ON - When the fiber is being bended the LED indicator will indicate RED for 10s. - Approximately 10s indicator will return to GREEN automatically. JIG DETTACHED - When you unclip the Fiber ID JIG the LED will turn RED for 10s. - Approximately 10s indicator will return to GREEN automatically. JIG CLIPPED ON JIG DETTACHED Green -> Bend -> Red -> 10s -> Green -> Straight -> Red -> 10s -> Green UNCLIP THE FIBER ID JIG AS PER PICTURE - Press the trigger and hold it - Unclip the Fiber ID JIG of the fiber - Release the trigger

35 Title: File : B--FIELD-TEST.DOCX Page: 35 of TROUBLESHOOTING 10.1 RED LEDS ON G2 BRITESPOT AND POWER LEVEL 10 Process - This situation is caused by too much fiber power (commonly due to short fiber length) - Hold fiber and loosen connector, slightly retract fiber (~1/16 ) from connector, re-tighten connector. Wait to allow new fiber position to stabilize reading (~1-2 minutes) - Repeat previous step including the 1-2min wait, to move fiber out further until LED turns green - Ensure fiber was not removed too far by checking that the power level is above 8 (ideally it should be 10)

36 Title: File : B--FIELD-TEST.DOCX Page: 36 of RED LEDS ON G2 BRITESPOT AND POWER LEVEL 9 Tools list Cleaning stick 40009, #F Process - Remove the fibers indicating RED, check the fiber end for debris or a poor termination (poor cut), push them firmly back into receptacles and tighten the nut. Wait to allow new fiber position to stabilize reading (~45 seconds) - If still RED, unplug all RED probes and clean the connectors with cleaning stick (#F125185) gently as the LED inside the fiber connector has a soft silicone lens.
