Q&A with MATTIA MATTIA answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Caring, loving, funny and clever. Describe your strong sides: I have a very positive look on the world. I am usually in a good mood, and rarely down or depressed. I am also very good at connecting with all types of people, including meeting new ones. I also have a good work moral - if I have a goal, I don t quit. I also care for other people. Other than that, I am a good researcher - I look at studies and research when faced with a task. Describe your weak sides: I am not good at confronting other people with their wrong doings. I can also be a bit impatient and easily get frustrated with people I am close to, if they don t get a task done, or fail to solve a problem on their own. I am also bad at telling people how I really feel. What is your marital status? Girlfriend. Do you have any children? No. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Soccer, gymnastics, standard and latin dance, badminton, volleyball, basketball, surfing, windsurfing, snowboarding and skiing. Religion: Atheist. Which countries have you visited: Italy, France, Norway, Sweeden, Iceland, USA, Spain, Bulgaria, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, England, Turkey, Monaco and Austria. Describe the best holiday you have had: A surfing holiday with my lifeguard friends on Fuerte Ventura. We were 30 lifeguards. Each day we went up early to go surfing. The sun was out all week, it was warm and no wind with perfect waves. We spent 3-4 hours surfing and then went home to the hotel. Then we either went swimming in the pool, or went for a mountain bike ride up the volcanoes. Or went to the city, had a good meal. I made some new friends, and we all went out at night, sang karaoke and danced. What do you like the most about your own country: I like that our society is built on trust and care. We pay a lot of taxes, but that is able to ensure that everybody can get an education and healthcare. I also like that we take care of the weak, and offer special help to people with conditions. Which other types of sports are you interested in? I like a lot of different sport, but the ones I am currently most interested in is basketball, American football, surfing and snowboarding. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: Climbing and drawing. List which musical instruments you play or have played: Keyboard.

Q&A with MATTIA - continued MATTIA s dreams, favourites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? My dad is my idol. He has a lot of regrets of how his life shaped itself. He wanted to be an architect, but never got the support he needed from his family. So he ended up being a carpenter, which he is not very fond of. He wanted to make sure that his kids (me and my three siblings) got the support we needed and more opportunities than he had. All my life he has always been very positive and loving, helping me with school or problems I had, even though he has had a job he doesn t enjoy. What are your goals in life? My main goal is to be happy, and enjoy the time I have on this wonderful earth. But I also have career goals, and want to be a teacher. I also have places I want to see and things I want to do - for example visit Hawaii or get better at surfing. Most dangerous: I nearly crashed in my parents car one winter, because of icy road and I couldn t brake. I was a few centimeters from crashing into another car with about 60 km per hour. Greatest sorrow: When my grandpa died. What is your favourite colour? Blue - it s the color of the sky. What is your favourite animal? Dolphin - it s such a playful animal. What were your childhood dreams: I wanted to be an astronaut or an explorer. Which values do you rank the highest? Happiness and love. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? I have two older brothers. The one is 4 years older, and the other one is 2. They were always stronger and better at everything than me when we were younger. One day my mother took us for a picnic, and we stopped at a big tree. I was probably around 8. We went climbing, and my mother asked who could climb the highest. So I climbed and climbed upwards, and when I looked down, my brothers had stopped a long time ago. They were afraid, and didn t dare climb higher. But I wasn t. I remember how happy I was, that there was finally something I was better at than my older brothers. And my brothers also congratulated me, and called me cool because of how high and well I climbed. Which was your greatest experience or moment? First kiss with a girl. Happiest: The day I quit my job at the factory I worked at during my first year after high school, knowing I had saved up a lot of money for traveling and boarding school. Funniest: When two girls stole my clothes while I was in the shower during my time at boarding school. I had to sneak back naked to my room, which was far away. It was so funny afterwards, and I got my revenge on the girls ;) Scariest: When I broke both bones in my left forearm and had to have surgery. Proudest: Graduating high school. What is your favourite kind of food? Chicken - tastes good and is healthy. What is your favourite kind of music? Pop - good beats you can dance to. What is your favourite kind of car? I actually don t have a favourite car, I don t care about cars. What is your favourite kind of pet? Dogs. What is your favourite time of year? I have to say summer because of its warm long days, but each time of year has its charms. What is your favourite book and/or author? Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - J. K. Rowling - it s a wonderful universe full of adventures and plot twists. What is your favourite movie and/or director? Shawshank Redemption - its a very deep movie, showing how fear can destroy your life, and how hope and dreams are necessary in life.
