Tips & Tricks for Learning Choreo Showmanship Judge and FRENZY bass, Judy Pozsgay, will help you explore practical techniques for learning choreography (and teaching it), and making it stick! Class will include interactive exercises and movement, so be ready to get your groove on! Hands On (and Off!) Directing This class for directors (assistants/associates welcome) will be taught by Nikki Blackmer and Anne Marteniuk (lead and bari of FRENZY), and will offer suggestions for new, seasoned, analytical, artistic, and left and right brainers. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO BE PART OF THE DEMO CHORUS (must be solid on How We Sang Today ). Emcee Techniques/Timing Judy and Nikki present this interactive class designed to explore ways to be an effective quartet or chorus emcee. Addresses pacing, timing, interaction between emcees, script interpretation and microphone techniques. Mixology (Class size limited to 30.) Nikki leads this interactive class that will explore the head, chest and mix voices. Every class participant will sing in pairs, and give and receive feedback. Will also need some brave people to demonstrate in front of the class. Water Aerobics class Grab your bathing suit and make a splash with Lee Hays and Barbara Gregg in the pool! Marcia Bosma discusses the problems leaders face when it comes to delegation what can be delegated, what NOT to delegate, and how to delegate effectively. Friday July 22 Saturday July 23 Chocolate & Peanut Butter The Director/Choreographer Relationship Anne and Judy explore the roles and responsibilities of the Director and Visual Leader/Choreographer with regard to the visual performance. Examine the ways these 2 key leaders can successfully work together, to create a winning combination like chocolate and peanut butter! Characterization Get Some! Judy, Anne and Nikki explores the integration of characterization into a performance. Many interactive exercises are introduced during this session. Come prepared to play! Word Sounds & Diphthongs Learn left and right brain techniques with Anne to help make the words on the page transcend off the page and across the stage. Tag Time! Grab your friends and do some tag singing before dinner with Logan Patrick-Miernicki! DCP Testing Session Need to take a DCP test? Kim Patrick-Miernicki will hold a DCP testing opportunity on Friday. Moving Section Rehearsals Beyond Notes & Words Bobbette Gantz discusses finding ways to create a tuned unit sound with matched singing and ringing space, vowels and fine-tuning. For directors, assistant/associate directors, section leaders, and anyone who has to lead section rehearsals. Live Skype coaching with Frenzy & Jean Barford! Frenzy lets us sit in on the last hour of their morning Skype coaching session with the one and only, Jean Barford (Sound judge, 5-time International Chorus Champion director, Queen of Harmony tenor, Sound of Music). Frenzy will then hold a 30-minute open Q&A session. This is an opportunity not to be missed! Arranging From a Lead Sheet Classes start at 10:00 on Friday morning! Joanie Adler helps you arrange a song from a piece of music that only has the melody on it with a few chords written above. It s up to the arranger to write chords that make musical sense using good voicing and voice leading for BBS harmony. M&M Series (Membership & Marketing) Bridging the Generation Gap From a membership perspective, Lou Schroff and Lillian Zellmer discuss how to merge older voices and personalities with younger voices and personalities for the long haul?
