Ensemble Odyssee featuring Filippo Mineccia er inn aer w e n Priz asse rs W ou n a V onc 1 C 01 2

Ensemble Odyssee is a collective of young baroque musicians who seek new interpretative paths in early music. The group combines a strong interest in historical performance practice and in unearthing new repertoire with a yen for improvisation and experimentation. Ensemble Odyssee performs regularly in concert series throughout Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Austria, including such noteworthy venues as the Konzerthaus Berlin, summerwinds festival, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, Kunsthalle Lingen, Noorderkerk Amsterdam, Minimekerk Brussels, and Muziekgebouw aan t Ij Amsterdam. Radio recordings include live broadcasts by the Dutch Classical Radio 4 and Concertzender Amsterdam, as well as TV channel Cultura24 and Dutch national channel Nederland 2. As a chamber group, Ensemble Odyssee was prize winner of Amsterdam s prestigious International Van Wassenaer Concours in 2011, and most recently has welcomed eminent guest artists such as Claron McFadden. Ensemble Odyssee In 2013, Ensemble Odyssee launched their debut CD on the German label Pan- Classics, featuring little-known Neapolitan composers such as Pietro Marchitelli and Antonio Farina as well as Alessandro Scarlatti. The Cd has gotten enthusiastic reviews by the International press, amongst which Diapason and BBC 3. In 2014 their second CD "Gaetano Veneziano: Christmas in Naples" has been published on the same label and again was greeted with great enthusiasm among reviewers in Europe: BBC Music Magazine selected it as their Christmas Choice and other reviews in International Record Review, Diapason, Early Music Magazine followed. In 2015 Ensemble Odyssee will publish two more Cd's with music by Gaetano Veneziano and Attilo Ariosti, a joint project with Italian countertenor Filippo MIneccia.

Filippo Mineccia Orchestra of 1 countertenor + 17-19 musicians Filippo Mineccia countertenor Andrea Friggi harpsichord, conductor 2 recorders 2 oboes 2 bassons [optional 1] 6 violins 2 violas 2 cellos 1 violone 1 theorbo 2 harpsichords 2 trumpets [optional] Born in Florence, Filippo Mineccia begins his musical studies very early in the prestigious School of Music of Fiesole, singing in the polifonic choir. After that he continues studying cello, obtaining a degree in the Conservatory Luigi Cherubini in Florence. In the same period he started discovering his voice and earned a degree with Gianni Fabrini, at the same Conservatoire. In October 2011 it has obtained his final degree in singing with highest honours with professor Donatella Debolini. In these years he works with groups like Il Complesso Barocco, La Capella de la Pietá de Turchini, Collegium Marianum, Accademia Bizantina, Divino Sospiro, Orquesta de Cambra de Zurigo, Orquesta Barroca Catalana, Orquesta Barroca Nereydas, Auser Music o Estro Armonico. And worked with directors like Alan Curtis, Antonio Florio, Ottavio Dantone, Ruben Jais, Filippo Maria Bressan, Gwennolè Rufet, Manuel Valdivieso, Enrico Onofri and Carlo Ipata. Mineccia also participated as a soloist in several important Festivals of ancient music. Among the most important is the performance of the Passion and the Stabat Mater by Francesco Provenzale with the Capella de Turchini during the Festival Misterya Paschalia in Krakow (March 2009), the role of San Pietro in the Passione by A. Caldara during Festival de la Chaise Dieu in France (Agoust 2007), Haendel Dixit Dominus and Purcell s Te Deum with Orchestra Barroca Catalana (February 2009), as well as Carmina Burana by Carl Orff and Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell (April 2005). Also notable is his participation in the recording L adorazione dei Magi in Naples directed by Antonio Florio (Glossa Records), as well as Haydn s Missa Cellensis with the Camerata Strumentale di Prato, directed by Filippo Maria Bressan.

Attilio Ariosti A musical journey in the life of a 18th century diplomat and musician Attilio Ariosti can be counted amongst one of the most interesting musical figures of the beginning of the eighteenth century. A priest, born in Bologna, Ariosti served at several European courts in Germany, Austria, and France where he got acquainted with diplomats, monarchs and philosophers such as Leibniz. He was considered a virtuoso singer and a great performer on many instruments, including the viola d amore, for which he composed a substantial amount of music. On top of the success which he has reached with the several oratorios, probably written for the Viennese court, he earned great popularity after moving to London. There he composed operas for the same theatre as Handel and Bononcini. His daring harmonic writing was noticed by Rameau who quoted his opera Coriolano as the best example of expressive musical writing. Attilio Ariosti Guest Artist: Filippo Mineccia (Alto) The present program draws a line from the alto arias by Ariosti from his early oratorios until his last operas in a breath-taking recital with emerging vocal talent Filippo Mineccia. He is accompanied by Ensemble Odyssee, in a big chamber orchestra setting, as it was customary in the English theatres where Ariosti was used to work on par with Handel and Bononcini. Programme concept: Andrea Friggi, Filippo Mineccia Duration: 65 minutes of music

A programme of more than usual interest [ ] performed with such commitment and artistry that one is compelled to listen a really enticing disc, proving that authenticity in performance need not mean a reduction in musical enjoyment and enlightenment. Robert Matthew-Walker International Record Review, December 2014 [...] it is the instrumental ensemble led by Andrea Friggi that makes us admire an inventive and sharp performance and a generous sound. Diapason 2013, Sophie Roughol What a joyous disc this is a seductive blend of foot tapping rhythms, beguiling melody and casually virtuosic vocal fireworks!... Ensemble Odyssee are complete masters of their recital; the vocalists [Filippo Mineccia, Jenny Högström] are uniformly splendid, with limpid tone and throw-away virtuosity when (frequently) required. Alastair Harper Early Music Review, December 2014 Press Ensemble Odyssee s approach is fresh and unconstrained. Lingener Tagespost 2012
