Welcome Thank you for your interest in auditioning for a Blue Light Players' production! We ve put this information packet together for you to help you learn a little more about the play, the characters you will be reading for, and to give you some idea of what to expect during auditions. If you ve auditioned for us before, welcome back! If this is your first time auditioning for us, we re thrilled to have you! We love to bring in new members of the Michigan theater community. Whether you re a veteran performer or you ve never been on stage before but really want to try, we d like to encourage you to try out for this show. We welcome cast members from throughout Michigan. What you should know about auditions Auditions are open to ages 18+ and we believe in "color-blind" casting. Auditions will consist of singing, dancing, and acting. Please prepare 16-24 bars of a pop-rock or Broadway song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. You may also use vocal selections provided in the character audition packets. Sides have been provided within the audition packets for each character. Please arrive in attire which is appropriate for moving in a dance audition. If you have dance shoes, please bring them with you. Otherwise, wear a pair of athletic shoes. You may not audition in bare feet or socks. Auditions are closed, with the exception of the dance portion of the audition. Call backs will be held on Monday, September 21st at 7pm. Call backs will not be held for every role. If you don't receive a call back, please do not worry. Many cast members will not receive a call back. If you receive a call back, you will be expected to prepare the vocal selection(s) contained in the character audition packet. We look forward to seeing you on stage. Break a leg!

The Play Nominated for five Tony Awards, Rock of Ages is a rock/jukebox musical built around classic rock hits from the 1980s, including hits by Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and Steve Perry. Broadway.com called the show a high-energy dive into a living, breathing music video that channels every totally rad 80s cliché in the book, riding high on nostalgia and hairspray. Here s how Broadway.com described the plot of Rock of Ages: It s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip s last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily-clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip and themselves before it's too late?
