Presented by Creative Age Edmonton celebrates the power of the arts to transform older adults, enabling you to express your identity, concerns and aspirations all while increasing your sense of well being, quality of life and connection with the community. Join us for the 2014 Festival Launch and celebrate creative aging! Performances, special guests, refreshments, and music! FEST: Festival of Edmonton Seniors Theatre Timms Centre for the Arts: June 5-8, 2014 FEST, now in its 6th year, showcases senior artists in theatre, as well as music, dance and literary art. All ages are welcome at our performances, or take in one of our many 55+ workshops. All abilities welcome. No experience necessary. Come sing out loud, and learn a new song or two with members of Edmonton s premiere ukulele band The Be Arthurs. Friday, June 6 Events 10a.m. Tea & Coffee in the Lobby 10:30 1p.m. Performance Storytelling Workshop We all have stories to tell - some from the recent past and others from long ago. Led by members of GeriActors & Friends, you ll turn your stories into moments of theatre to be shared with others. 1 2p.m. Light Refreshments in the Lobby 2 4:30p.m. Shadow Puppet Workshop Learn about the world of shadow theatre. Enjoy creating simple shadow scenery, puppetry, and hand and body shadows with director and filmmaker Eva Colmers.

FEST: Festival of Edmonton Seniors Theatre Friday, June 6 Events continued... Performance: 7 9p.m. Arts Extravaganza: A Bit of Everything! Join us as we kick-off the Festival with a variety night of performances by talented senior artists and groups. Acts will include musician Peg Young, storyteller Robert Lang, CRIPSiE Dance Ensemble, The Rural Route Acting Troupe, and GeriActors & Friends. All ages welcome! Reception in the lobby to follow. Saturday, June 7 Events 10a.m. Tea and Coffee in the Lobby 10:30 1p.m. Creative Movement Workshop Express your ideas through movement, even if you have never danced before! Explore your expressive potential in a safe and small class with choreographer Amber Borotsik. 1 2p.m. Light Refreshments in the Lobby 2 4:30p.m. Introduction to Acting Workshop Ever dreamed of acting? Come learn how to read a script, be a character, and have fun with acting. Led by producer and director Amanda Bergen. Performance: 7 9 p.m. Intergenerational Poetry & Storytelling Showcase An entertaining evening of readings by poets and storytellers of all ages, including Joyce Harries, Shirley Serviss, Melle Huizinga, and young writers from Glass Buffalo Magazine. Come early - light refreshments served before the show!

This workshop, taught by Rapid Fire Theatre s top improvisers, will focus on creating characters, stories and scenes through spontaneous improvisation. There are no scripts and no plans - all you need is YOU! No previous theatre experience necessary. All abilities welcome. This full-day workshop is FREE and includes lunch between sessions. No writing experience necessary, just a willingness to brainstorm, freewrite, and dig into photo albums!
