STB/CAB INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS 8-Series STB-Ready 15 Embedded Consoles Tools Required: - Phillips Screwdriver For 8-UB (9-8120-XXXXXX) / 8-RB (9-8130-XXXXXX) / 8-CT (9-6140-XXXXXX) / 8-G (9-5250-XXXXXX) / 8-FC (9-5260- XXXXXX) / 8-VS (9-6160-XXXXXX): 1. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the electrical plate at the front of the unit then disconnect any cable inlets securing internal cables to the electrical plate (Fig. 1). NOTE: While the image used in this example is a Recumbent Bike, the steps apply to all units except for the Rear Drive Elliptical (Pg. 5) and the treadmills (Pg. 8). Fig. 1 Page 1 of
2. Route HDMI cable down through mast of machine and out of the front of the electrical plate. The routing path is represented by the dark bold line below. Be sure to used the included zip ties to secure the HDMI cable to the other cables inside the unit as it is routed down through the machine. 9-6140-XXXXXX (8-CT) 9-5250-XXXXXX (8-G) 9-8120-XXXXXX (8-UB) 9-9130-XXXXXX (8-RB) 9-6150-XXXXXX (8-VS) Page 2 of
3. Install the HDMI grommet onto the HDMI cable and the 90 degree RJ45 adapter onto the CSAFE cable (Fig. 3) Fig. 3 4. Pass the HDMI cable through the bottom opening of the new electrical plate pulling the grommet through the plate to secure it. Also install the 90 degree RJ45 adapter by passing it through the top hole in the electrical plate and clicking it into place. Finally, secure the electrical plate to the frame using two (2) of the supplied screws. Use the cable retention clamps as shown to secure any loose wires (Fig. 4). Fig. 4 Page 3 of
5. Connect the CSAFE and HDMI cables running up to the 15 Embedded console to their respective connections: RJ45 Console Connection Point HDMI Console Connection Point 6. Install the CAB-to-RJ45 adapter cable into the RJ45 port on the front of the unit, plug adapter cable into the CAB, then plug the RJ45-to-3.5mm adapter cable into the CAB (Fig. 5)*. *Note that while the image above shows the CAB being installed onto an Upright Bike, the CAB installation process is the same for each unit. Installing the IR Emitter: OPTION A: If the set top box (STB) is located close to the unit, the IR emitter can be connected directly into the RJ45-to-3.5mm as shown below: OPTION B: STB is close to the unit Fig. 14 If the set top box (STB) is located farther away from the unit, such as in an A/V closet, the adapters can be combined with a length of customer-supplied CAT6 cable in order for the IR emitter to reach the STB: STB is farther away from the unit Fig. 15 Page 10 of
Mounting the IR Emitter: Once the 3.5mm end of the IR cable has installed into the CAB using either Option A or Option B (see page 10), the IR diode end of the IR emitter will need to be attached to the front of the STB where the IR receiver is located (Fig. 16). If you cannot locate the IR receiver on the STB, shining a flashlight at the front of the STB can help in locating it. Fig. 16 In the examples above, you can see the IR emitter mounted to the STB over the STB s IR receiver. The two examples on the left show common locations of the IR receiver on two STBs. Once the IR diode is in place, install the IR shield onto the front of the IR diode (Fig. 17). This will ensure that the signal sent to the STB will only change the settings on the STB that the IR diode has been applied to. Fig. 17 Page of
