Nature s patterns, such as the veins in a palm leaf, make every item unique and a perfect background on which to present food. Naturally all the materials comply with all the applicable stipulations related to food safety. Sugar cane Sugar cane pulp, also known as bagasse, is the residual fibre from cane sugar production. Its high cellulose content makes sugar cane an extremely strong material and it can withstand temperatures of up to 100 C in both conventional and microwave ovens. As is indicated by the Seedling logo, sugar cane packaging is also compostable. Compostable Bioplastics Bioplastics is the collective name for various types of plastic made from plants. The Biodore bioplastics carry the Seedling logo and OK compost HOME logo. This means the products can be composted in both an industrial facility and a garden compost bin. C-PLA C-PLA (polylactide or polylactic acid) is a transparent biological plastic derived from starch. C-PLA can withstand temperatures up to 85 C and, as is indicated by the Seedling logo, is biodegradable in an industrial composting facility. Kraft paper The Kraft paper is made from unbleached FSC paper. The brown material has a natural look and composts very easily. To make Kraft paper moisture and grease proof a PLA coating is added. Cardboard Our cardboard is made from primary wood fibres. The result is a mono-material that is ideally suited for recycling. Paper pulp Paper pulp is made from recycled paper and cardboard and after use can be disposed of with the old paper. Palm leaf In the past palm leaves were burned. These days this exceptional product is given a new life as a packaging material. Thanks to the natural variation in the palm leaves every article is unique. The material can be used in a conventional or microwave oven (up to +220 C) and in a deep freeze (down to -25 C). The palm leaves are dried, moistened and then moulded into shape without the use of any glue or comparable materials. The production process is carried out in accordance with SA 8000 and the palm leaf disposables can be recognised by the Seedling logo. Wood We only use FSC certificated wood sourced from responsibly managed forests. Wood is very strong, can withstand temperatures of up to 70 C in a microwave oven and can even be put in the freezer. Wood is also grease and moisture proof. Bamboo Bamboo s rapid growth makes it a suitable raw material. All our bamboo products are FSC certified. Bamboo products are also very strong and can withstand temperatures ranging from -5 C to 40 C. 4
