He completed basic training and Airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After serving his country both stateside and in Afghanistan, he returned home to Weston. During his free time, he enjoyed dirt track racing at Grayson County Speedway. Go #357! Brian loved fishing with his mom and picking on his brother. He was a volunteer firefighter for Weston Fire Department. Brian was an exceptional and loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, soldier, firefighter, and racer. He is survived by his mother, Mona Atkins; brother, Jake Leeswood-Jones; sister, Tanya; grandparents, James and Joyce Atkins, Ralph and Barbara Sloan, and David and Carol Leeswood-Jones; aunts, Sissy, Cindy, Angelica, Michelle, and Aunt Rikki; uncle, Scott; cousins, Lacey, Eric, Casey Jones and Brittany. He will be greatly missed by countless other family members and friends as he was special and treasured by everyone he encountered. 2 6/17/2010 Mona & family I just heard of Brian's passing and needless to say my heart aches for all of you. I have not been around Brian very much but I think the world of the Atkins family. Remember my thoughts & prayers are with you and if there is anything I can do to help, just let me know. LAURA HIGGINBOTHAM, JUNE 17, 2010 Mona and family, My thoughts are with you during this hard time. Thinking of you and if there is anything we can do for you or need anybody to talk to I will always be here for you. Your friend, Billie BILLIE DEASON, JUNE 14, 2010 Mona and Jake, My prayers are with you and Jake during this time of sorrow. Brian was a good person never met a stranger and would do anything for anybody. We will see him again when it is our time. God will take care of him until we up there too him. He's in a better place and he will always be with both of you no matter where life may take you. Jacki JACKI J FREEMAN WYNN, JUNE 14, 2010 I had the great pleasure of having Brian in my 2nd grade class. He was a delightful student. He had a smile and laugh that always made his classmates and I smile. I am very sorry to learn of his passing. TAMELA SHADDEN, JUNE 14, 2010 Mona, I was so sorry to hear of Brian's passing. Brian was so blessed to have such a wonderful mother and grandparents. I know the days ahead are going to be difficult but focus on the good times. Seek God and he will see you through this difficult time. With deepest sympathy, Kemp. KEMP WILLARD, JUNE 14, 2010 Brian was always able to put a smile on my face no matter what. I will miss his smiling face and his big bear hugs. The races just wont be the same without watching #357! You will be missed Brian! BRITTNEY MITCHELL BOWLER, JUNE 14, 2010 Mona and Jake, Be strong and know that God is watching over you daily. Brian was a wonderful young man with an infectious smile and laugh. Please remember I am just a phone call away if you need anything.
3 JEANNIE CARDWELL, JUNE 14, 2010 Did not know Brian well. Onl met him a few times, but I knew that he made Elisha (my niece) happy and that was what was important. He will be greatly missed by her and Bubba. VERNA TUXHORN, JUNE 14, 2010 I don't know where to start...i moved to Howe my junior year and one of the first students to come see me at my grandparents' house was Brian and Jarred. I thoroughly enjoyed being around Brian. He was sooooo funny. I could be having a bad day, and he could come in and say one thing and my day would turn itself around. My next memory, which some people might consider lame, was at the football field and he was sitting in his camo truck listening to "White Tees" by Dem Frenchize Boyz...he cranked it up and started rapping to it. I fell into hysterics. But my best memory of Brian was when we were in Mrs. Adams history class and Mrs. Adam had told him "if you do do that then you're grade will change". His face was priceless...he slowly looked up at Mrs. Adams and with the biggest smirk on his face asked "did you just say do-do". Again, I fell into hysterics. I'm sad to say our friendship never lasted long...which is why I would feel out of place being there. My prayers are with Brian's whole family. I'm devastated that my classmate will not be attending any reunions. I'm devastated that I can't apologize for our falling out. I'm devastated that he's gone. I will miss you, Brian. My thoughts go out to Mona, Jake, and everyone else in his family. BRADLEIGH HERBERT, JUNE 14, 2010 Brian was in school wiht my daughter Breanne for many years at Howe. He was so cute and always funny. As the kids got older I subbed in the classroom occassionally and Brian never failed to make me laugh. He was always the class clown that would do anything for a laugh. Breanne shared many Brian stories with us over dinner through the years. Please accept our sympanthy but know he made many laugh people laugh during his time here. JEANIE MILLSPAUGH, JUNE 13, 2010 Cindy Russell and Scott, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. He will be greatly
4 missed by the family and his friends. God bless you and your family for your loss. Regards. Sulema I. Mungia SULEMA I MUNGIA, JUNE 13, 2010 To the family and Scott Russell...I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's hard to lose someone so young. May your newphew rest easy now. PAM CLARK, JUNE 13, 2010 Didn't know Brian that well but only met him a couple times as a child very sweet young man and know he will be missed. My sorrows and love to the family which i knew forever. God Bless You ALL Love, Sharon SHARON HAYNES FLEMING, JUNE 13, 2010 i love you brian, and always will. love always your cousin lacey and my dirty converse. go 357 LACEY RUSSELL, JUNE 13, 2010 Mona, please accept my most heartfelt condolences during this time of loss. I was just heartbroken to learn of your son's death. Please know he is at peace now and my belief is you will be together in eternity. Although I didn't have the honor of knowing him, I know he was your world, as all of our children are. I too have lost a nephew at age 13 in the same manner. It doesn't make sense, but we must grieve and go on, that is the test we bear in this world. I know he will be missed desperately, please know I love you and my prayers are with you all at this time. SUSAN PRINCE, JUNE 12, 2010 What a joy it is to have known you Brian Leeswood Jones. You always made everyone laugh and smile, there was never a dull moment with you around.i will never forget the Texas ranger game and you collecting the beer cups and buying your mom a shot glass that I had to hide for you so the teachers wouldnt take it.everything hidden away in my back pack, then I wreck the school bus!!the policeman ask for my lisence and out falls all the beer cups and shot glass! I was afraid the cops would keep it all,but thank God they let me keep it all,and a few of you boys were very happy.you always made my heart smile.my heart goes out to all of you Love Ms.Kay
5 MS. KAY DRAKE, JUNE 12, 2010 Brian, Wow all the memories we had together. I remember way back when i use to come over to your house and hang out. so much fun. Then we got to high school, man those were some crazy days but we sure enjoyed them. I don't think I will ever forget the night we partied so hard and you and brendon sang the Call me Firman Song. Oh that was so hillarious!! You were always the one to make someone laugh if they were having a bad day. We miss you like crazy. Rest in peace brian Love you Katie G...aka DIVA KATIE LAREE GEORGE, JUNE 12, 2010 We have known Brian since kindergarten. Our son, Jared, has considered Brian a brother.
