It is an experience that I will totally cherish. My partner for the drama competition was Colby Choi from 4. We did a scene from a famous novel, The Little Ladyship. I played Eve, who is a young knowledgeable girl that has just got married to a famous doctor, John. Colby played my enthusiastic cousin Judy. Eve and Judy are girls from several decades ago. Colby and I had to pretend to be ancient ladies. We had to dress like a lady, talk like a lady, walk like a lady...it was really challenging but interesting. On the day of the competition, we woke up really early and went to a stadium in Kowloon. lthough I had been to several drama competitions, I still felt really nervous. ut in the end, it turned out that the competition was really enjoyable and I felt like I had really become Eve on stage. fter the competition, Miss Wong, our coach, bought us delicious food for lunch! To me, this was not only just a simple competition. It was an experience for growth. We had to conquer our fear on stage. It may seem scary but actually it was delightful. If I have another chance to join the drama competition again, I will totally go for it without hesitation. If you are interested in drama also, come and join the Drama Team to enjoy the pleasure brought by drama!

2 2 English Phrase Recap!! Phrase of the Day resumed in the new year ! The months of February and March started off with the theme NIMLS! Here are a few of the scripts for you to enjoy in case you missed them. They are all valuable to enrich our vocabulary! Let s recap and see how much you can remember Recap 1!:, you look as sick as a dog! nd you ve been running around like a headless chicken! What is going on with you? Uh uh. Curiosity killed the cat. I m not being nosy. I m just worried. I promise I won t let the cat out of the bag. Well, it s not a secret. I ve been busy because I have a part-time job now working to help pay for my own school fee. Is that why you ve been working like a dog? ut you re just a student. You re overworked. Why don t you take a cat nap? Don t fuss like an old hen. I have to do this, especially when it s a dog-eat-dog world in my workplace. I can t lose my job. It s just the school fee. You don t need to earn that much. It may be chicken feed to you, but to me it s a lot, so I have to do what I have to do. TEST YOURSELF! See if you can match them (nswers on page 4) 1 s sick as a dog Little amount of money 2 Run around like a headless chicken 3 Curiosity killed the cat C 4 Let the cat out of the bag D Take a short and undisturbed relaxing nap Complain about things that aren t big matters Not to mind things that are not of your business, or you ll get into trouble 5 Work like a dog E Tell a secret accidentally 6 Fuss like an old hen F Work very hard 7 dog-eat-dog world G tough competition 8 Take a cat nap H Do things without really knowing what you re doing 9 Chicken feed I Very very sick

You know what I mean. Tell me now. What did you do? Um I kinda ratted on you. Rat on me? You went to the teacher about me? What did I do? Well, you forced illy to let you cut his hair. Well yes, he agreed to be my lab rat! That s not bad. Oops, sorry. I didn t know he agreed to be your lab rat. y the way, did you hear? Our class gets to go to a lunch buffet for free today! Free lunch today? No way! Where did you hear that from? I heard it straight from the horse s mouth! nd who is that exactly? Our class teacher! She s treating us free lunch! nd it s a buffet! Wow, that s great, especially for you! You eat like a horse! Hey, stop horsing around with me! lright, alright. Let s go and enjoy the buffet! TEST YOURSELF! 4 4 nswers to the Phrases: Recap 1 Recap 2 1 I 7 G 1 E 2 H 8 2 F 3 D E 4 C 5 F 5 D 6 C 6 Inter-Class Dodgeball Competition 5C Ng Man Wai Every year, the inter-class dodgeball competition is an eye-catching event to our schoolmates as all classes try their best and have great fun. Like in the previous years, the dodgeball competition was split into senior form and junior form. ut this year, there was something special about the competition, which is the class teachers and tutors could also participate in the competition, making the competition more exciting. It is our pleasure to ask some of the schoolmates who were there during the competition and share their feelings with you all: t first, we joined the competition just for fun. Luckily, the result was out of our expectation. It was a great time with my classmates as we all worked hard and put in effort for the same target. fter the competition, I got closer with my classmates and the sense of belonging to the class became even better. 4 Sam Cheung I think we were very lucky and blessed that my class was able to win and beat all those tough participants, and the bond between me and my classmates was the biggest prize we could ever imagine. Thank you Mr.Mok for participating in the competition for two days. esides, it was surprising that some classmates tried their best to join the competition even though they were wearing the school uniform. 5C Marco Mak

5 The games only lasted for 2 days and the last beep indicated the end of it. Together with cheers and applause, sportsmanship and friendship flourished. The champion of the junior form was 2D, followed by 2 and 3. While in the senior form, the championship went to 5C, with 6D being the first runner up, followed by 4. 5 Youth in Hok Tau 4D Joey Leung Last Friday, we had our school Picnic Day in Hok Tau. Different from Picnic Days in the past, this year I slept well before the picnic because I wasn t expecting too much. I even didn't know where Hok Tau was.. When we reached the place, we took a class photo first and then went straight to the barbecue site to start our barbecue. fter having our delicious lunch, I walked on the Hok Tau Country Trail with my friends. The golden sun was up in the cloudless sky. The scenery in front of me was beauteous and picturesque. splendid and bright sunshine shone on my hair, the scent of flowers and grasses wafted into my nose by a feeble and refreshing breeze. The trail was filled with our youthfulness and pleasurable laughter. We took lots of photos with hilarious and wacky poses. We called that, youth. Trip to Cheung Chau 5 Cherry Lai Things did not turn out as pleasant as they were at the beginning, as our bumpy ship ride began with vomittings and insecurities. The waves on the sea were so unstable. Fortunately, things started working out better after we arrived at the pier. The first thing that appeared into my mind was food as we were all food lovers. In less than a minute s time, we were already buying large fishballs near the pier, and even the teachers were astonished by our

6 6 fterwards, we went on a geographical trip led by a member of our squad who picked up Geography (her map reading skills she picked up did not seem to help her a lot though) and started going on a historical trail. long the trail, the scenery amazed all of us as we could see Cheung Chau from a broader perspective. The arrangements and colors of the houses seemed so harmonized even with a wide diversity of colours. asically, the rest of the trip was filled with food and more food. We kept eating non-stop using the remaining time and ate lots of must-have snacks. Cheung Chau is well-known for its stunning arrays of delicacy. What stays in my mind most is that almost every menu had cheese added into it and it killed me as I am ultimately obsessed with cheese. Cheese oysters and scallops are the two that I highly recommend. Lettuce was stuffed inside but it went perfectly well with cheese and you must be surprised by its portion. You could never imagine that the scallop would be that immense! On the whole, the trip was exhausting, yet utterly fulfilling. Time flew by quickly and our last school picnic came to an end. While the sceneries were great, what we treasured most were the time spent with our dearest friends and being our true selves. Teachers day out Miss De Guzman While it was a day off for students to do their revision, 22nd March 2017, being Staff Development Day, was a time for teachers to try something other than stay in a classroom setting. With such hectic schedules, it was a breath of fresh air (literally) when the teaching labs, teaching assistants, office staff, the principal and teaching staff were taken to see a UNESCO geopark in Sai Kung. efore we headed off to the geopark site, we visited the Lions Nature Education Centre in Sai Kung a visitor centre set up by the griculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. Inside, we were given a quick overview of the geological environment in Hong Kong. Next, we were treated lunch in a seafood restaurant in downtown Sai Kung. Then it was time to go to the geopark.

7 7 Since no vehicles were allowed in except for taxis, a line of taxis had to be called up for the whole staff to get there. Once we arrived, the sight was breathtaking. We were looking at a spectacular reservoir, overlooking neighbouring islands and the open sea. This was High Island Reservoir and we were standing at its East Dam that was completed in the 1970 s. We were guided to walk along the Geo trail from there, taking in the towering hexagonal rock columns on one side and finally reaching a sea cave to the other side at the water s edge. For many of us who ve lived in Hong Kong all our lives, this was the first time that we visited this part of Hong Kong, so it was an eye-opening experience. It was not just a nice day out to take a break from work, sitting in one spot and doing lesson plans and endless marking. It was not just the remarkable rock formations or scenic beauty of nature that got us awestruck either. It was realizing how lucky we were that we were still able to witness vibrant geological features that were made millions ago when volcanoes erupted, causing contour lines and column shapes. ut every few years, some of the rocks break off and disturb the shape of the columns. In time, more will fall off. Like what our guide said, who knows how many more decades we ll be able to see these beautiful features? So, if you can, LKKCer s, explore Hong Kong s many wonders like geoparks, before they disappear. To read more about Hong Kong s geoparks, scan the QR code. Easter 4 Cherry Lam What will pop up in your mind when you hear the word "Easter"? Colourful eggs? Dazzling decorations? Or the mysterious myth of Jesus? For me, Easter means happiness and sorrow at the same time. When I was young, I loved making food. Especially during Easter, I liked making my own Easter chocolate eggs. I would melt the chocolate and mould it into an egg shape. fter that, I would draw my impressive icon on the wrapping paper and sign my name on it. ut things went wrong when I was 10. I gave those hand-made eggs to my friends just as usual. ut one of my friends, who had a crush on a boy at that time, passed my egg to that boy as a gift because she thought my egg was wonderful! She couldn't see my name on the egg but the boy discovered it. Everyone discovered it. nd soon, everybody thought I had a crush on him!

8 8 I was laughed at by everyone until the day that boy went to another school. From then on, I hesitate to cook again. Whenever I see an Easter egg, it reminds me of the bitter memory during that Easter when I was ten. Easter at the same time is the symbolization of delight. There is a long Easter holiday without pressure of exam for us to relax. It is time for us to clear our soul by travelling or hanging out with our friends, or simply relax at home. This year, there is a special activity for students studying History in senior form. There will be a trip to South Korea for students from 18/4 to 22/4! What a trip it is going to be! K-pop is very popular nowadays so this trip will be perfect for girls like me who love K-pop (and History of course). The trip is meant to be a study tour. We are going to visit some famous Korean firms and museums. s we study History, What s UP? Committee we will visit lots of historical tourist spots Chief Editor: 5 Lai Cheuk Yi, Cherry such as Gyeong ok Gong and Gwang Hua Deputy Editor: 4D Chan Chin Kwan, Kathy Mun Plaza. We look forward to the exciting but educational trip. Senior Technical Editor: 5 Chan Ming Hei 4C Hom Long Hin Last but not least, don t forget to do revision during the holidays as the final exams are coming! I hope everyone can have a joyful and fruitful Easter! What s Next?
