And a warm welcome to your co-host, Sunny Flowers. Good to be with you again Stone, another jam-packed program here on CNN, a busy day on the agriculture beat for sure... Starting off with the markets, what does your ticker tell you Stone? Stone, hand over heart: Well, Sunny, fact is I have been having a few chest pains but I think it may be the extra salsa on my soft meat burrito down at Happy Hank s Spiceorama at noon today.. Sunny, embarrassed: Uhhh, no, wasn t asking about your heart, Stone, I was referring to the stock markets. Oh that.. of course.. well, fact is Sunny, beets are up, carrots are down, coleslaw is just kinda laying there. Sunny, confused: Coleslaw?... Since when do we have a stock report for coleslaw? You saying there should be no stock report for coleslaw? Sunny pauses, holds hand to ear, holds up hand to silence Stone Sower and the Seeds Series Page 2

Folks we have to break away for late breaking news from the CNN Situation Room, here is Wolf Blister... Wolf? to Situation Room set Thank you Sun Flowers.. That is.. Sunny Flowers, Wolf. Sorry about that Sun... We wanted to bring our listeners up to speed on late developments in the Spring Planting arena... As you know Sun, all of our listeners have been riveted to their TV sets over this... Stone Pastures here Wolf, you mean our CNN listeners have been like riveted to their TV sets?.. I mean like, that s gotta smart! Not riveted.. like riveted Stone. Uh huh!.. Glad you straightened us out on that one Wolf. Well, as all our CNN listeners know, this is the season for spring planting and all the folks in the country here are thinking about nothing else. Kermit and Miss Piggy come on stage chatting So anyhow my mom, she said, Miss Piggy... that s what my mom calls me.. Miss Piggy. Makes sense kinda, I guess, seein s how your name is Miss Piggy. M Piggy, angry: Kermit, I do declare, you know my name is Miss Piggy.. and I for sure know my name is Miss Piggy.. but how in tarnation are the folks out there in TV land s posed to know that my name is Miss Piggy if n I don t weave my name into this here conversation, I ask you? Kermit, squints, looks out into audience: TV land?... There s a TV land out there somewhere? Look around yourself bug eater; don t this look like a CNN set to you? I gotta take my hat off to you Miss Piggy!.. How would y all know this here is a CNN set? First clue might be all the CNN signs around here. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 3

Wolf crosses to M Piggy and Kermit Excuse me people, Wolf Blister here, might I have a minute of your time? Wolf Blister?... Just what is a wolf blister? M Piggy, angry: Kermit the Frog, don t y all know nothin from nothing? Don t tell me you don t know Wolf Blister! Can t say I do.. Me, I had a cold sore back a few weeks ago, here on my top lip here.. but a wolf blister.. man that do sound some painful for sure! Wolf, clears throat: Yes, well, a few questions if we may... (to Miss Piggy) Miss, your name please? M Piggy, smiles, star-struck, looks up lovingly: Why Mr. Wolf Blister, most folks call me Miss Piggy, but a gorgeous hunk like you.. why you can just call me... (sexy voice)... Sweetums! Uhhhh... Sweetums,.. that is to say... Miss Piggy.. some questions if I may... As you know it is spring.. planting season... What is going through your mind? Oh Wolfie baby.. It is spring for sure, and you know what they say.. In the spring a young girl s fancy turns to thoughts of love! You mean you aren t thinking of the spring planting season? Spring planting isn t even on the radar screen baby!.. Now kiss me you fool! Wolf, tries to keep M Piggy at distance: Wait... please... (turns to Kermit) You sir... your name please.. Kermit, clears throat: I sir, am Kermit... But you may call me.. Kermit. Uhh.. yes, well,... What do you think of in this time of spring planting? I sir am thinking of young seeds, planted in the cool, moist soil, ready to explode into healthy and productive plants which will provide healthy protein nourishment to countless millions of people around the world. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 4

Wow, I am impressed! Kermit, speaking to off-stage: Did you guys in the sound truck out back get all that quote from me?.. Did you video dudes get a close-up of my best side, my right side?.. Did I look and sound pretty awesome? Good grief!... And I am the one who is s posed to be the ham! Miss Piggy, Kermit,.. Stone Pastures here, just a clarification if I may.. the person who does the sowing... That would be the.. Sower. Right.. the sower... Now just why does the sower sow the seeds? You figure the seeds are gonna just like somehow jump into the ground all on their own maybe?... Not the sharpest pencil in the box are you Stoney dude? A good point there Miss Piggy... The sower serves a very important role. And you would be...? Sunny Flower, CNN News co-host. And a very attractive Sunny Flower you are too.. I just might break out in song.. (sings Sunny Flower to tune of She s My Sunflower ) She s my Sunny Flower She s my one-y flower And I know we ll never part. She s my Sunny Flower She s my one-y flower She s the flower of my heart. If you are thinking about a future as a singer my best advice is that you best keep your day job eating flies. I think you are on to something there Sunny... It all starts with the sower. Which begs the question:.. why does the sower sow? Well if he was to just like plough and not sow the field he would likely be called the.. Plower. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 5

So before anything happens first the sower has to sow. Listeners, I think we see something interesting here... First there is a sower who wants to plant the seed... Then there needs to be the right seed used.. Then the sower goes out and lovingly plants that seed.. Good sower, good seed, good results. I think we need to head back to the Situation Room where some experts are standing by to tell us more about what happens when a sower sows some seeds. Wow, this is some exciting!... Every hair on my head is standing on end... You have no hair on your head Kermit. I know Miss Piggy, but if I had hair on my head it for sure would be standing on end. Listeners, hear now from our expert panel... VBS leaders introduce the day s subject Sower and the Seeds Series Page 6

Day 2 Time: 8 Script: Kermit is broadcasting, spreading seeds, pauses, looks around, smiles, happy Wow!... This here is gonna be some crop!.. Can t wait until these seeds start to grow... Betcha if we have some rain, lotsa sun we will have us a record crop here for sure. Miss Piggy comes on stage, watches as Kermit continues sowing seeds Mind telling me what you are doing there, Kermit? Doing?.. Why I would think it should be perfectly self-evident Miss Piggy, I am spreading seed in this here field. M Piggy takes some seeds out of Kermit s bag, examines them, tastes a few This seed looks, tastes perfectly good. Is for sure, best seed on the market, for sure. OK.. if this seed is so good, what for are you throwing it away? Throwing what away Miss Piggy, exactly? The seed Kermit.. the seed that you are like grabbing handfuls of and throwing away all over this field,... when you could be like saving this great seed, maybe giving it to starving little people all over the world, to eat. Kermit, shock: You want that I should give this seed away,.. let people just go and eat this precious seed? Makes more sense than just to go and throw this here perfectly good seed on the ground out here!.. I will have you know that some of my relatives over in Hog Hollow are like going to bed hungry!.. Breaks my heart thinking of them,.. my nephew Pinky and my niece Pansy.. (starts to cry).. breaks my heart for sure! Kermit gives M Piggy a handkerchief, she blows nose loudly You actually got relatives go by the name of Pinky and Pansy Pig? Sower and the Seeds Series Page 7

I got some pictures, can show you if you want. No, I m OK... Just can t quite get my mind around a pink pig actually. Pinky s folks sent him to Paris to pig finishing school and he got all artistic. Can happen I guess, even with a pig but.. Let s get back on track here, bug boy!... We were talking about why you are roaming around this field, tossing away this great seed... Kermit, looks lovingly at handful of seed: It is absolutely gorgeous isn t it?.. Why staring at this seed I am just.. speechless is what! Don t get out much do you Green Giant? Wolf, Stone and Sunny come on stage Oh look, here s the folks from Country Nature Network.. hey guys, how s things in the biz? The biz??? Us folks in the media call it the biz. Maybe you guys in the.. biz.. can figure out why the Green Gizmo here is tossing out perfectly good breakfast grub. Sowing Miss Piggy... sowing! Whatever!.. Still amounts to throwing out good food. Planting seed Miss Piggy. Planting?.. And the reason for that would be? Well what Kermit is doing, as a good farmer, is seeding a crop, and in good time with lots of sun and rain, up from the ground will come a marvellous crop. Is it not amazing Stone, from just one tiny little seed will come dozens, perhaps hundreds of fine plump seeds! Clarisse Crow comes on stage, leans over, picks up seed, eats, enjoying immensely sings to tune of I Got Rhythm from American in Paris Sower and the Seeds Series Page 8

Clarice: I got beauty, I got feathers, I got snack food -- Who could ask for anything more? I had hunger So I ate more, It s de-lic-ous -- And I m sure there ll always be more! Kermit, shock: Hey just one cotton-pickin minute here, you over-stuffed feather pillow! Clarice: Clarice: You spoke to me? Just who do you think you are, coming in here, private property, eating a man s seeds! I be... (important)... Clarice the Crow!.. And I shall have you know that all properties are open to... Clarice the Crow! M Piggy, to Wolf, Stone and Can she just waltz in and do that? Wolf, looking through a book: From the research I have done it looks like she,.. being a crow... is free to do that. My understanding is that this sorta thing was covered in the Bird s Rights International Treaty of Just a cotton pickin minute here!... What about frog s rights? Sunny, looks in book, speaks: Says here in Subsection 12B as amended February 30 th, Where the party of the first part is a crow,... (to Clarice).. that s you,... and the party of the second part is a frog,.. to Kermit).. that would be you Kermit... the said crow shall forthwith be allowed to scavenge for seed on the said frog s land. Not fair!... I shall appeal to the highest court in the land!.. (pauses, thinks).. Hey hold on here one cotton-pickin minute!... You said that cockamamie law was dated February 30 th, Yep, it s right here in this Law Governing Conflict Between Crows and Frogs handbook here. Well I shall have you know that there is never 30 days in the month of February... like never! Sower and the Seeds Series Page 9

Clarice: Good point froggie!.. But what is written is written!.. Tough, just live with it! This is unjust, unkind and... stinky is what!.. And I will fight it with my dying breath! Knock yourself out Mr. Greenie!.. But while you are out defending your rights I shall have devoured all of your perfectly scrumptious seed delicacies! Kermit, very dramatic: Oh the unfairness of it all!.. Tell me, is there nothing a poor frog can do to defend his rights? Ever thought of trying acting lessons? Well, Kermit, you might want to fall back on Crow vs. Prickly M. Piggy: Wouldn t that smart?.. I mean falling back on prickly and all. No Miss Piggy, you don t understand. What I am referring to is the 1928 court case where one Christine Crow attempted to sue a farmer, name of Eddie Prickly, for unspecified damages. Seems Christine was scrounging seeds in Eddie s fields and Eddie set up a hi-tech scary crow chasing device. Upshot of it all is Christine was so traumatized that she went and lost all her feathers. But the 5 supreme court judges, in a 7 to 1 verdict, ruled that Farmer Eddie was within his rights to try to protect his property and his seeds. Clarice, overacting, falls to her knees, pleading: Oh say it isn t so!.. I shall be homeless.. walking from town to town.. no longer able to afford to fly!... How shall I care for my children... And what shall happen to my sick and aged grandmother!... How shall I tell them?.. What shall I do? Maybe try politics... that kind of weak theatrics seems to sell in Washington. Just thinking outside the box here for a bit... Kermit is there maybe a mid-point solution that would allow Clarice to feed her family, yet not at the loss of your crop? You know, Stone, I am starting to read you here.... I am listening. You select the best of the crop for seed, am I right? The very best is all. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 10

Clarice: And what do you do with the cracked seeds? I just burn em!.. Only the best seed is good enough for my fields I tell ya! I am starting to pick up what you are laying down here!.. Cracked seeds would be much easier for us to eat, especially for my old grandmother, no teeth and all. Guess you got a point there Clarice, and it would be much less work for me, not having to burn the cracked seeds and stuff. Sounds like good news all around. Now isn t this just real good now!.. All of us thinking of each other, respect and love for each other. Just like God loves all of us and wants to care for us. M Piggy, looks lovingly into Kermit s eyes: Oh Kermie.. love for each other... and it s spring and all. Kermit, clears voice: Yes, well, look I gotta get back to seeding this field,... M Piggy, arms around Oh Kermie, must you go?.. There s a new movie on Animal Kingdom.. called The Young and the Unattached... And Kermie, you and me, we are young.. and we are unattached. Kermit, struggling to get free: See, thing is Miss Piggy, soon will be rain and the seed has to be in the ground and all.. and... bye! Kermit rushes off stage, M Piggy stares after him, overcome with love The frog is crazy mad in love with me! Time we hustle back to the Situation Room for late breaking news! all off stage Sower and the Seeds Series Page 11

Day 3 Time: 7 Script: M Piggy is on stage with watering can, waters the rocks, keeps checking the rocks, upset This is sick!... I have a good mind to go back and demand a full refund! M Piggy again waters, checks, more annoyed OK, this about does it for me! Kermit comes on stage, singing Farmin Green to tune of It Isn t Easy Being Green It's not that easy farmin green Savin the planet for the farmers yet to come. Kermit, what on earth are you goin on about.. green.. and.. farmin.. and.. whatever nonsense! Green... You know.. being kind to the environment.. the ecology.. using ecologically sound farming methods. What is with the big words and stuff that makes no sense! Oh but that s where you are very wrong Miss Piggy, the environment makes all the sense in the world. I have a good mind to show you the world, from outer space! I sense some anger in your voice Miss Piggy. You sense!.. I will give you a sense!... I am about to hiii-yah you! Please don t do that Miss Piggy, my little green body bruises so easily, besides (shows profile).. this face, you wouldn t want to destroy a natural treasure. M Piggy, furious: I will give you a natural treasure.. I will tear you frog leg from frog leg... I will take every bone in your body and mash it into mush.. I will.. Stone, Sunny and Wolf rush on stage and separate M Piggy and Kermit People!.. Miss Piggy!.. Whatever is going on here? Sower and the Seeds Series Page 12

Oh Mr. Green Grape here is goin on about bein some cockamamie green farmer. Well, Kermit is a farmer, and he is green and all. Kermit, a green farmer?.. I think Kermit means a farmer who is careful to be kind to the environment. Well, it s like in my song: (sings) It's not that easy farmin green Savin the planet for the farmers yet to come. There he goes again, singin silliness! Us guys at CNN, the Country Nature Network, we don t see it as silliness at all Miss Piggy. All of us, whether farmers or broadcasters or just citizens, we gotta get more aware of the environment and how we can help. Well, what I need help on right now is this dumb rock garden of mine. You re planning a rock garden Miss Piggy, sweet. I have a rock garden, maybe I can help. Well I can t figure it out Sunny... I started out, got these lovely rocks. For sure they look like good rocks Miss Piggy. Best rocks I could find, for sure! Then I got out this watering can, filled it with water, watered the rocks real good.. and... nothin! I don t follow you Miss Piggy.... What did you expect? M Piggy, angry: Sunny Flowers.. listen real good, OK? This here is s posed to be a.. rock... garden.. right? Yes, I follow you on that. And you are s posed to water a garden, am I right? Yes of course you are but.. And a garden is supposed to... grow.. am I right? Sower and the Seeds Series Page 13

Yes, but... Well, I been watering this rock garden for better n a week now and.. nothin!.. No new rocks comin up, the rocks that are here aren t growin either! There s your trouble right there Miss Piggy... See, in order to have a growing garden you need to plant things that will grow. You tellin me that rocks won t grow? Nope, they won t. Even when I water them lots? Won t matter. Rocks still won t grow. So what am I s posed to grow in my garden? Well you can grow flowers. I like flowers, specially geraniums. Or you can grow vegetables.. potatoes, and radishes, and corn. Oh man!.. If there is anything Miss Piggy likes it s corn... I am gonna go make me a corn garden... See ya later guys. M Piggy leaves stage I like your song Kermit, want to sing more of it? It's not that easy farmin green Savin the planet for the farmers yet to come Oh I know it might seem silly, thinkin conservation and stuff But really you see, it s God s world we save It s not that easy farmin green To be as God ex-pects we ob-serve His plan for the earth He made And folks must understand that it s His foot stool And we must not forget to thank God the good favours He has given us. But green's the color of spring And green is calming and it is peace And green is what we need to sustain To protect God s beautiful treasures That He s given us. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 14

So green is what we want to be Growing as God s love grows in me I am happy, so happy And being green just suits me fine I thank God now I know God has grown his love in me. A lovely song Kermit. Thanks, but I gotta go now... I want to go help Miss Piggy plant her corn garden. You are a good guy Kermit! all off stage Sower and the Seeds Series Page 15

Day 4 Time: 6 Script: M Piggy is hoeing in her corn garden, stops to wipe off the perspiration occasionally Man, who d a thought growing corn would be such a lot of work. goes back hoeing, Kermit walks on stage Hey there Miss Piggy!.. How goes the corn garden. Worse than worse!.. Dumb weeds keep growing.... Kermit, laughing uncontrollably: Got a joke for you Miss Piggy, you re for sure gonna laugh your head off! I am busy in my corn garden, what makes you think I want to hear your dumb jokes? Listen... You are gonna love it!... OK, ready? Why is a farmer like Santa Claus? I for sure have no idea why a farmer is like Santa Claus, now can I go back to my work? Reason a farmer is like Santa Claus is... ready for this?... Farmer and Santa both go... hoe hoe hoe! (laughs hysterically) Get it?... Ho ho ho as in Santa laughs.. Hoe hoe hoe as in farmer hoes the ground.... Isn t that just the funniest joke you ever did hear? M Piggy, not impressed: Yeh right!... Laugh... I thought I d never start! Stone, Sunny and Wolf come on stage Hey Kermit, Miss Piggy, how's things here? Well the weeds are winning and Kermit s jokes aren t. Well for sure weeds are a pain. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 16

Worse still, with the weeds in our gardens we don t get as many vegetables as what we should. Weeds can do that? For sure... See there is only so much water, and only so much nutrients in the soil. Nutrients?.. What s that? Nutrients are the good stuff in the soil that feeds the plants. When there are too many weeds growing the good plants in the garden can t get enough food to produce a good crop of corn. Sick, so you mean that I won t get any corn from my corn garden cause I have weeds in the garden? Well, you are hoeing your garden Miss Piggy, killing the weeds, so you should get lots of corn. Liker I always say on CNN, after the seeds are seeded remember to keep the weeds weeded. You actually said that.. on TV and all? For a fact he did, I even heard him. I for one never realized that weeds could cause so much trouble in the garden. A garden is kinda like a person s life. How you figure that? Well, when we have all kinds of things in our life we don t get time to concentrate on what s important in our life. Not sure I follow you... Give me a fer instance. Well like when you ask Jesus into your heart. And you go to church. And Sunday School. And you pray every day. Then you go and start getting all busy with other things. And pretty soon you don t have any time for God. And other things take over in your life. Just like the weeds take over in your garden if you don t look after it. So you mean we shouldn t let anything else in our lives, only God? Sower and the Seeds Series Page 17

No that s not true at all. We need variety in our lives... But we need to keep God at the center of our lives, keep studying his word. I know one good way of doing that. What would that be? Going to VBS. Why don t we all do that right now? When we get back Miss Piggy I will help you hoe, hoe, hoe... Get it... Hoe, hoe, hoe. I am gonna hurt you bad if you don t go and get some decent jokes! all off stage Sower and the Seeds Series Page 18

Day 5 Time: 10 Script: Stone, Sunny and Wolf are at M Piggy s corn garden setting up for TV broadcast Now if you set up my desk just across from the garden gate. Well, I was thinking that maybe I should be in front of the gate, I mean with Miss Piggy being a lady and all, just makes sense that I be the one to first interview her here at her corn garden. Both of you make good points but perhaps I should be directly in front of the gate, me being from the CNN Situation Room and all. With great respect Wolf, I don t see why being in the Situation Room should make any difference. I mean, this story is all about Miss Piggy s corn garden, and a corn garden is all about farming, and farming is all about agriculture, and I am the Agriculture reporter at CNN... So, I should be directly in front of the front gate.... So that s settled... Well, Sunny, I can see where you are coming from, and there is a lot of what you say that makes sense,..but.. just before we jump to hasty conclusions.... Let s examine the facts... When I look at Miss Piggy s corn garden I do see farming, and I do see agriculture, but even more, I see.. nature.. And after all, this is the CNN, the Country.. Nature... Network.... And I.. after all, am the.. Nature.. correspondent here at CNN, the Country.. Nature.. Network.... So I am sure you will all agree that..i.. should be sitting directly in front of the gate.... Now if you will all help me move my desk in front of the gate I will proceed to... Wolf, angry: Now just hold on one cotton pickin minute nature boy!... I will be the one sitting at the gate.. Dream on Wolf Blister.. I am the lady and Miss Piggy is a lady and so.. M Piggy and Kermit come on stage as the others are yelling back and forth The both of you are just being stubborn! I am head of the Situation Room! Don t you two have it figured out?.. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 19

Hey what s all the bellerin about? We could hear you guys clean down in the valley, I thought it was like something crazy goin on up here. Like it was a big rock concert with like a gazillion fans screamin at the top of their lungs... Or maybe even an ice hockey game or somethin. Well, we are gonna do a special broadcast on CNN about Miss Piggy s corn garden... And these two amateurs don t seem to understand that the chief correspondent.. that would be me... needs to be directly in front of the gate. Well that s just nonsense, that s all it is... Exactly Stone, it should be me, Sunny Flowers, sitting in the position of importance! I don t think so Sunny, I, Stone Pastures am the natural choice and I.. Sunny, Wolf and Stone shouting at each other, Kermit and M Piggy try to talk over them Clarice Crow comes on stage holding ears Clarice: What in tarnation is going on here?.. How do you expect a body to enjoy an afternoon nap with all this screaming going on around?.. I will have you guys know that I was in the middle of the most awesome dream.. I dreamed I was laying on a beach in Bermuda and 18 robins were hand feeding me cracked corn pellets.... And you guys had to go and wake me up! Well, I am sorry to disturb your rest Clarice but these two want to... Wolf, Sunny and Stone start yelling insults at each other again, Clarice tries to calm them Clarice: People!... Just a minute here!... I said.. (screams).. people!!!!... You people are not only interrupting my dream.. you are giving me a massive migraine... Now not one more word out of any of you or I shall go to the chairman of the board at CNN and inform him that I happened to see, while flying over the CNN studios last week, the three of you talking to other networks. Wolf, Stone and Sunny react in shock Clarice: We did no such thing! I have pictures and sound track... Now do I have silence? OK, as you say Clarice.. Sower and the Seeds Series Page 20

I said my piece, I m OK.. Wolf looks down, says nothing Clarice: Wolf? All right, all right, I ll go along. What I can t figure out is you three, all working together and everything, arguing over a little thing like where you sit. I agree Miss Piggy, after all, they all work at the CNN studio, they are like a team. And to make a good program it takes all of you working together in harmony. So right Kermie. Kinda like my corn garden here. To have a good corn crop I need lots of things working together, or there s gonna be no corn at harvest time. I don t follow you Miss Piggy, what do you mean lots of things working together? Clarice: I can see where Miss Piggy is going on this... You need good seed.. Don t forget good soil.. And rain.. Clarice: Lots of sunshine... If all these things aren t working together in harmony it s a crop failure. For sure you guys have taught me a lesson here... Me too! We ve gotta work together, our heads, hearts and hands.. in harmony... to be successful. Clarice: Glad you see it clear now.. maybe I can get back to my Bermuda dream... Reminds me kinda of how we all need to live together in God s love. That s the key guys.. Living together in God s love! Kermit sings Working Together to tune of Rainbow Connection Sower and the Seeds Series Page 21

When working together, Sharing in God s love We re working in harmony Keeping before us All of God s commandments Companions in work we will be Heads, hands and heart one in purpose Committed God s will in us all will see Our friends will see it And our lives will live it A message from our God in me. repeat the verse with all actors singing actors off stage Sower and the Seeds Series Page 22
