INTRODUCTION FOR THE TEACHER. Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. Benjamin Franklin Starting with this sentence, we try to make learning English funny and easy. For that reason we are giving you a wide range of suggestions about the play you are about to see. Due to the wide age group of the students the play in intended for, each teacher should choose among the activities we suggest those that fits better to the skills of their students. In the pack, teacher will find a CD, with all the audio materials included, and a complete dossier of the student activities printed on separate sheets that can be easily photocopied. 3

10 Things You Didn t Know About William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s father held a lot of different jobs, and at one point got paid to drink beer. Shakespeare was eighteen when he married Anne Hathaway in She was 26 and expecting his baby. SCANDAL! The couple had a baby girl, then had twins, a boy and a girl, in Shakespeare s parents were probably illiterate, and his children almost certainly were. Nobody knows what Shakespeare did between 1585 and Shakespeare s plays feature the first written instances of hundreds of familiar terms. We probably don t spell Shakespeare s name correctly but, then again, neither did he. Shakespeare s epitaph wards off would-be grave robbers with a curse. Shakespeare wore a gold hoop earring or so we think. North America s 200 million starlings have Shakespeare to thank for their existence. Some people think Shakespeare was a fraud. 4

TRACK 3 ROMEO AND JULIET. This is a teaching, interactive learning and practicing English show where we enjoy a funny parody of the most emblematic play of William Shakespeare (author who surrender tribute in the event of the 400th anniversary of his death). Both Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet revive its tremendous and passionate story from a perspective of humor and with the audience participation. 8

TRACK 4 MY NAME IS JULIET DIALOGUE 1 SHE: Hello, my name is Juliet Capulet. I don t like wars. I prefer love. I am so romantic. Aaaay! And I am very excited, because daddy told me that a boy wants to marry me. SHE: He will be brown haired or perhaps blond haired, I don t know tall, strong, I don t know But I m sure that he is handsome and brave, and smart, and young, and sweet and His name is Paris, and it s time for him to come home. HE: Hello. SHE: Eh hello. What are you doing here? SHE: We have a date. SHE: A date with you? HE: Yes, I am Paris. SHE: Ah, you will be his father, or his grandfather, or great grandfather or his... HE: No, I am Paris. 11

SHE: No. HE: Yes. SHE: Oh. HE: Do you like me? SHE: No. HE: Why? SHE: Because you are ugly and stupid and old. HE: Ouch. You don t love me? SHE: No. Paris. I don t love you. HE: It doesn t matter. Hey, surprise, I am not Paris, I am William, your partner. SHE: I don t love you, William. Goodbye. 12
