By. Eléna Faulise Hey Brilliant Broncos! Do you know about all of our FUN clubs here at Brill?! Choir: On Monday mornings, about fifty Brill Broncos arrive before school to practice singing as the Bronco Choral Choir. The choir performs at base ball games, hockey Bob The Horse Brill Elementary games, and for other organizations. Each practice, the Broncos try to get better and better at singing. It s a book that has true facts about weird things like ghosts, voodoo, secret music messages, headless chickens, psychic pets, Mr. chicken legs, UFO sightings, bird races, mystical animals, most stolen book, strange deaths, secret rooms, funny stories, histories bloopers, and dynamic robbers. It s one of my favorite- scary-but-really-entertaining true fact books that come around rarely. It s a great book. I think that you will love this book. You can get it at Barnes and Noble. 3 MERRY CHRISTMAS! Turkey Volume 1, Issue 2 Page 3 BY:KASIDY BLUMENTHAL By Connor Flavin Now it is about Christmas. So on break, instead of letting your brain lose its creativity, you can hang out with your family. There is a little legend that is called the Legend Of The Pickle. Instead of running to see what St. Nick has left, the children have something else to look forward to. All the children run to the tree and try to find the pickle. This teaches the children not to be greedy and just tear through presents. So have some fun, spend time with family, and... MERRY CHRISTMAS! The turkey is one of the most famous birds in North America. Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the wild turkey, not the bald eagle, the national bird of the United States! The turkey s popularity comes from the American people s love of eating the bird for special occasions, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. The wild turkeys we usually see in photos or pictures is not the same as the domestic turkey that we serve at Thanksgiving. 4 Bronco Planet Page 4 Spelling Bee Participants By Nathan Gomez Spelling Bees are enjoyable to watch, but for the contestants, it can be a challenge. This article is about the fourth grade contestants and how they got ready for the school spelling bee. Interview How are you getting ready for the spelling bee? Savannah, Krystel, Cade, Sneha, A Sean, Astin and Allie said they study to get ready. Om is the only one who said he goes on a website that pronounces the word and gives the definition of the word. Two people said they look up the definitions of the words. How did you feel when you won the grade level spelling bee? Most of the contestants said they were happy and excited. One contestant said he was mad and sad because he did not want to be in the spelling bee in the first place. I thought that the answer was a bit different and a little disrespectful. 5 Bob the Horse... continued from p.4 So he tried again, and again, and again. Before long, BOB STARTED FLYING. Fred went outside, kneeled on the ground, and screamed, It s a miracle! Then Fred went to the horse farm where he bought Bob and told the person that Bob can fly now. The owner asked Fred, What did you do to make Bob fly? Fred told him he had gone to the store, bought some GREEN apples, and fed them to Bob. The owner of the horse farm told him that he had tried green apple before and it hadn t worked. Well, the green apples that I gave Bob were fresh Gala apples, but I think it was a miracle that Bob started flying when I fed him green apples. Most contestants said sad. One contestant said happy. I asked the alternates the following question: If a person is sick, and you have to fill in for them, how would you feel? All of the alternates said they would be happy. As you can see, most of the contestants take the spelling bee seriously. Cartoon by Leah Johnson By Destiny Grayson Chop! Chop! That is the sound of my hair being cut. I will never forget that very Sunday evening I finally got my begged for haircut. I was just taking a shower to clean and get my hair wet because my mom wanted my hair as wet as rain before she was going to trim it. I was very worried that when I saw my mom she would cut off a lot my hair because my hair was really long! I quickly began walking down the stairs. I sat down in a black stool. (continued on p. 6)

6 Bronco Planet The New Me (continued from p.5) I felt the breeze on my neck as my mom tugged a strip of hair. She cut off my long strip of hair...chop! Chop! I was worried about what I would look and feel like after this haircut. I just sat on the stool and stared at a plant on the floor. I could hardly wait until she was finished. When I looked in the mirror, I was very joyful because my long hair was now up to my chin. I glanced at my hair as I swished and swooped my head from side to side. I admired the way my hair looked. I think having short hair is wonderful! Tigua By: Emma Hart, Megan Alaniz, & Destiny Grayson If I were a Tigua Indian, I d be forced to move from a long drought in the time of the 1670 s and join another Pueblo tribe in Isleta. If I were a Tigua Indian, I d be doing some work on the plot. I d be killing insects and pulling weeds out of the plot so insects wouldn t kill the crops. Well, would you like to know? Then keep reading Giraffes are the tallest mammal on Earth. They also have very long legs and a neck. Also a giraffe s leg is taller than most humans (about six feet). The giraffe is a herbivore. Giraffes can run up to 35 miles per hour. These fascinating mammals roam the grass lands in groups of half-dozens. The average life span of a giraffe is 25 years. The weight of a giraffe should be 794 pounds. Even a giraffe s tongue is long; it s 21 inches. Giraffe s regurgitate their food like cows. Their tongue helps them pluck tasty morsels from branches.
