The Broadway production of Fun Home will make its Seattle premiere as part of a national tour. Based on Alison Bechdel s best-selling graphic memoir, Fun Home introduces us to Alison at three different ages as she explores the many mysteries of her childhood. Fifteen-year-old Christopher is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. They each fall in love, get caught up in a military coup, join a band of revolutionaries, and have to save the country. Ride the Cyclone At 8:17 p.m., the Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir boards the Cyclone roller coaster. At 8:19, they meet their tragic demise. Trapped in carnival-like purgatory, the recently deceased discover a mechanical fortune-teller who invites them to tell their stories of life interrupted, with the promise of a prize like no other. Kiss Me, Kate This Tony Award-winning masterpiece set the standard for great musicals and then broke the mold. This sparkly sensation is, at its core, a true battle of the sexes. The Hunchback of Notre Dame A retelling of Victor Hugo s masterpiece, this tale of love, faith, and prejudice will leave you spellbound. Its lush score features songs from the Disney animated feature and new music from legendary composers Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, unlike anything in musical theater today. The Gin Game Snappy dialogue and quick wit crackle in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play that was called, the closest thing the theater offers to a duel at 10 paces by The New York Times. On a lonely visitor s day at a home for the aged, Weller teaches Fonsia to play gin rummy. But as the two get to know each other, and Fonsia goes on an instant winning streak, the tension starts to build within their new friendship. String The Greek Fates, three sister-goddesses, are responsible for spinning, measuring, and snipping the String of Life. After falling out of favor with Zeus, they find themselves stuck in a drab modern skyscraper, left to live among the mortals. When the eldest falls in love with a mortal, everything changes. Hairspray Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, dethrone the reigning teen queen, win the affections of the local heartthrob, and integrate a TV network all without denting her do. In PNB s premiere of George Balanchine s La Source, you ll smell the perfume in this sublime work choreographed to the music of Léo Delibes. Opus 19/The Dreamer, a darker work by Jerome Robbins set to the music of Prokofiev s first violin concerto, is an emotional and physical marathon with enormous rewards for audience and artist alike. The Rescue Mission works with people at all stages of addiction, homelessness, or other life challenges, offering proven services, support, and facilities.
