The Boeing Handicap is a stakes race for fillies and mares 3 years and older. It dates back to the first running at Longacres in 1954, and the legacy continues today. Again this year, a general-admission ticket is $1, which gives you access to the park, the paddock, and the first five levels of the stadium. You also get a race-day program and a coupon to buy a hot dog and drink for only $2. Admission for children 17 and under is free, but you ll need to request the refreshments coupon. No food or drinks may be brought into the facility. Other activities and amenities include Free backstretch tours at 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. The number of participants for each time slot is limited, so you ll need to make a reservation when you order your tickets (limited to 10 seats per group). Free general parking and a shuttle from the main parking lots to the stadium entrance. This year s track-side entertainment will include a food truck festival, located in the Paddock Park, and an equine art show for viewing and purchasing, located at the track level. The Emerald Downs racetrack is a 1-mile oval with views of Mount Rainier in the distance. It opened in 1996, replacing Longacres racetrack, which closed in 1992 after 60 seasons of racing. Many famous jockeys, including several members of the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, have ridden at Emerald Downs. Bring your family and friends for a day of fun with the horses in a beautiful setting.
