2 Friday, 20 March, 19:00, Upper hall 70 minutes, no interval, in Slovene and English with English surtitles Photo Peter Uhan Un Vent de folie Concept, direction and choreography: Mark Tompkins Costume and set design: Jean-Louis Badet Created in collaboration with the performers Dramaturg: Tomaž Toporišič Assistant dramaturg: Urška Sajko Assistant costume designer: Andreja Kovač Lighting design: David Cvelbar Sound design: Silvo Zupančič Make-up artist: Nathalie Horvat Stage manager: Urša Červ Produced by Mladinsko Theatre in collaboration with the French Institute and the French Institute in Slovenia Acting, singing and dancing: Primož Bezjak, Aleš Hadalin, Uroš Kaurin, Boris Kos, Maruša Oblak, Blaž Šef Un Vent de folie explores the universal themes of life, love and death and the never-ending cycles of transformation, renewal and decay. The piece includes and mixes several extremely heterogeneous elements and styles; Slovenian Kurent folklore; the verbal assault of Antonin Artaud s Theatre and the Plague; John Ford s sulfurous Jacobean tragedy of incest 'Tis Pity She s A Whore; a burlesque version of the Old Wild West; popular songs including Slovenian and American standards and more. Through the use of contradictory associations and the accumulation, layering and interweaving of these disparate scenes, intricate soundscapes, complex images and composite pictures emerge and vanish. Mark Tompkins, an American choreographer, director and performer, has been working in France since After many solo and group performances he founded his company, I.D.A., with which he won an important choreography competition in Bagnolet a year later. Between 1998 and 2000 he was a house choreographer in Strasbourg, and from September 2001 and June 2004 an associated artist of the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale in Paris. He won a prestigious SADC award. He was one of the first artists to bring to Europe the choreography practice of Steve Paxton, the beginner of contact improvisation and an important dance avantgardist, and he was also one of the first stage artists to build his research of the performative field in the gender theory. He came to Slovenia with some of his performances his solo Song and Dance left a particular impression but this is his first time here as a director. ***
3 Friday, 20 March, 22:00, Lower hall 65 minutes, no interval, in Slovene with English surtitles Photo Toni Soprano Hero 1.0 Idea, concept, text, almost direction, performance: Uroš Kaurin, Vito Weis More than dramaturg: Katarina Stegnar Hero theme song, Hero ringtone, Hero song and the rest of it: Lea Čehovin Video and dramaturgic disturbance: Boris Bezić Visual concept design: son:da Hero 1.0 remix: JAMirko Sound design: Marijan Sajovic Lighting design: David Cvelbar Web page: Miroslav Ničić Logomir Video editing: Jan Lovše Root: Branko Drekonja Stage manager: Urša Červ Co-produced by Mladinsko Theatre and Moment Hero 1.0, part one of the theatre series by Uroš Kaurin and Vito Weis, is dealing with the question of heroism in today's world. Uroš and Vito reflect the typical position of young adults who must face the fact that the society doesn t need them. Nevertheless, Uroš and Vito are heroes and are ready to sacrifice everything their minds, their bodies, their time, their career, their sexual identity and even their theatrical integrity to prove that it is so. In the scope between boyish ingenuity and fitness ambitiousness, they prove with every breath that we need them and that heroes are not a redundancy, even though at first sight it seems that the circumstances for them to live up to their potential do not exist. You know: no catastrophe, no hero. But this is already a theme for Hero 2.0. Uroš Kaurin graduated in acting from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television Ljubljana in He continued his studies at SNDO (School for New Dance Development/Choreography, Amsterdam School of the Arts) in Netherlands. He is employed in the Mladinsko Theatre as an actor. He is also a collaborator of the Via Negativa project by Bojan Jablanovec. He appeared in two awarded short films (Vučko, 2007; Hej, tovariši, 2006) and in some feature length films, among them a box office hit Going our Way (Gremo mi po svoje, 2009). He is a founding member of the KUD Moment, where he creates self-authored projects. He co-created an internationally resounding project by Oliver Frljić (produced by Mladinsko) Damned be the Traitor of his Homeland!. For his role in it he was awarded»best young actor«award at the Maribor Theatre Festival. Vito Weis finished the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in 2010 and graduated it in Since then he has been working as a freelance artist and collaborating with many Slovenian institutional and non-institutional theatres and companies (Glej Theatre, Sovenian National Theatre Drama Ljubljana, Maska, Mladinsko Theatre, Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, Koper Theatre, Zavod TU, Betontanc ). He is also a collaborator of the Via Negativa project by Bojan Jablanovec. He appeared in various short and full-length movies as well as a popular TV series Teraphy and performed in many one-time cultural events and state celebrations. He keeps on his toes by taking part in different workshops and seminars and with attending regular dance classes at the Ljubljana Dance Theatre. Strobe lights are used during this performance.

Skubic Direction: Matjaž Pograjc Dramaturgy: Tomaž Toporišič Set design: Tomaž Štrucl, Sandi Mikluž (Estrihi in ometi) Costume design: Neli Štrukelj Music: Tibor Mihelič Syed, Marko Brdnik Choreography: Branko Potočan Climbing training: Gregor Šeliga - Šeli, Marko Brdnik Illustrations: Nina Bric Animation: Gregor Balog Video compositing, mapping and programming: Luka Dekleva Video projections: Dušan Ojdanič Language consultant: Mateja Dermelj Lighting design: Tomaž Štrucl, David Cvelbar Sound design: Silvo Zupančič Make-up artist: Barbara Pavlin Stage manager: Urša Červ Produced by: Mladinsko Theatre Cast: Primož Bezjak, Uroš Kaurin, Boris Kos, Maruša Oblak, Barbara Ribnikar, Katarina Stegnar, Blaž Šef Between WWI and WWII Pavla Jesih paved new ways in climbing and in cinematography. The director Matjaž Pograjc invited the playwright Andrej E. Skubic to write a text about her using the following words: Climbing is the way of winning over the world, and as a female climber she had to, in addition to this, beat the men, too. And she did. Pograjc takes the climbing in the performance literally: as the climbing of the actors on the northern wall of the theatre and the performing, and at the same time on the icy wall of politics that proved too slippery, even for Pavla. In this daring, innovative and aesthetically perfected performance the team managed to merge the story of a sad fate of the interwar period bourgeoisie [... with] innovations in the field of the physical and risk theatre. (Matej Bogataj, Sodobnost) Matjaž Pograjc is a director, founder (1990) and leader of the Betontanc group which soon established him (and itself) internationally. The performances he directed at the Mladinsko, where he's been employed since 1993, are also regular guests at festivals at home and abroad. He is a recipient of numerous awards, among them are the Prešeren Fund Award and prestigious international awards, such as Grand Prix Bagnolet '92 for the performance Every Word a Gold Coin s Worth. With Betontanc he primarily researches the theatre of movement, although as a departure from the strictly body language he has entered the field of verbal as well a while ago. At the Mladinsko, he researches the relationship between the theatre and the film mediums, hybrid genres, fresh takes on themes from the classical and contemporary drama and literature; movement and music generally play an important role in his performances.
5 Saturday, 21 March, 20:00, Lower hall 75 minutes, no interval, in Slovene and Serbo-Croatian with English and French surtitles Photo Žiga Koritnik Damned Be the Traitor of His Homeland! Author and director: Oliver Frljić The text of the performance is based on the improvisations of the actors Dramaturgy: Borut Šeparović, Tomaž Toporišič Set and costume design, music selection: Oliver Frljić Assistant director and movement consultant: Matjaž Farič Sound design: Silvo Zupančič Lighting design: Oliver Frljić, Tomaž Štrucl Lighting technician: David Cvelbar Produced by: Mladinsko Theatre Cast: Primož Bezjak, Olga Grad, Uroš Kaurin, Boris Kos, Uroš Maček, Draga Potočnjak, Matej Recer, Romana Šalehar, Dario Varga, Matija Vastl In this performance, Oliver Frljić deals with love and hate towards theatre; the framework for his questioning of the limits of artistic and civic freedom are the fragments of a story about the disintegration of Yugoslavia, a symbolic space inhabited by actors full of dilemmas we all encounter, but to which we often willingly turn a blind eye. The universality of the play was confirmed during very successful performances at prominent festivals around the world. Likewise, as the critic of the French Le Figaro wrote, everybody agrees that the performance hits hard, and intentionally. [...] These actors [...] believe in the power of theatre that connects, enlightens, acts. In our spoilt society where stages are saturated with cultural products with no flavour, this is very good news. Oliver Frljić, the leading name of the younger generation of directors from former Yugoslavia, more and more renowned internationally as well, is also a writer, theorist, performer, actor, and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. He first decided to study philosophy and theology; later on, he graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. He directs performances produced independently and in repertory companies, enthusing but also shocking with devised theatre projects and radical reinterpretations of classical plays. For example, he triggered a heated public debate on censorship in Croatian theatres and brought up the painful subject of the Erased in Slovenia. He has collaborated closely with the group BadCo. and with Borut Šeparović and the group Montažstroj. So far, he has worked with the Mladinsko Theatre twice. In April 2014 he has been named General Director of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan Zajc, Rijeka.
6 *** Sunday, 22 March, 17:00, Lower hall 70 minutes, no interval, in Slovene with English surtitles Photo Nejc Saje Glengarry Glen Ross Author: David Mamet Translator: Zdravko Duša Director: Vito Taufer Dramaturg: Tomaž Toporišič Set design: Matej Stupica Costume design: Barbara Stupica Language consultant: Mateja Dermelj Music: Aleksander Pešut - Schatzi Lighting design: Matjaž Brišar Sound design: Silvo Zupančič Video: Dušan Ojdanič Make-up artist: Nathalie Horvat Assistant director: Daniel Day Škufca Assistant dramaturg: Sandi Jesenik Assistant costume design: Slavica Janošević Stage manager: Janez Pavlovčič This unusual and cruel, yet extremely entertaining, play about the ruthless world of real-estate agencies, which thirty years later is illustrative of the Slovenian territory as well, testifies that Mamet is an excellent writer. The play is brim with precise, intelligent, sharp at times vulgar dialogue, full of sudden and unpredictable turns that pull the spectators from the world of realism into the very specific poetry of Mamet s language. So it is certainly not a coincidence that a virtuoso of theatre directing Vito Taufer has decided to engage in a dialogue with the grand master of world drama and show us the very topical political and psychopathological mechanisms in today s (neo)liberal world, including Slovenia. Vito Taufer is one of the most productive as well as most recognised Slovene directors, having won two Prešeren Fund Awards, several Borštnik Awards, a special award of the BITEF jury, an award for best staging of the year in Mexico Since 1989, he has been working at the Mladinsko, all the while collaborating with other Slovene and European theatres. His stagings are a regular feature of home and foreign festivals. With regard to genre, they encompass a wide range of topics, from contemporary to classic dramatics, especially absurd drama, operatic spectacles, authorial researches on his preferred topics and non-verbal stage experiments. All his work is distinguished by precise rhythm, humour, refined artistic image (he often does the set and costume designs and the sound himself) and perfected acting creations. ***

Bric/Romana Šalehar, Daša Doberšek, Ivan Godnič, Janja Majzelj, Sandi Pavlin, Ivan Peternelj, Draga Potočnjak, Matej Recer, Stane Tomazin, Matija Vastl Director Mare Bulc, together with Draga Potočnjak and his artistic collaborators delves into transplantations, organ donations, donors and recipients. Who are they? The former and the latter, the recipients and the donors so (in)separately connected and so (in)definitely separated from one another. It wants to look into the dilemmas they faced before their decisions and the questions that transplantation medicine triggers in society. In the system that we as I idealistically hope still have: a society of solidarity, a social, accessible public health system that tries to not differentiate. Solidarity! Hope! Respect! Humaneness! This is the world that inspires me! says the director. Mare Bulc is a theatre director, performer, and writer. He first graduated in communicology and later on in theatre and radio directing from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana. He is the cofounder of the Dejmo stisnt Theatre (1993) and the founder of the No History Contemporary Arts Institute (2003). He creates theatre plays and occasionally performances. His four-year self-education project No History/Know History of eight plays and performances won him the Golden Bird Award in His plays have toured in Europe and the USA. Two of his later projects that have received the most attention were the staging of the novel Southern Scum Go Home! by Goran Vojnović and All together now!. After a successful performance When I hear the word actor I reach for my wallet., conceived in 2011 together with Matej Recer, this is his second direction in the Mladinsko. During the seasons 2010/11 and 2012/13 he was the artistic director of the Glej Theatre.
