2 PRESENTATION Since 15 years SHELLAC is a label involved in film production, as a producer and co-executive producer, in film distribution, in video edition, with a catalogue of hundred films. SHELLAC is also programming and running two theaters in Marseille in the south of France. Known for its role in development of new talents (Miguel Gomes, Damien Manivel, Joao Nicolau, Alessandro Comodin, Pietro Marcello, Alain Guiraudie, Serge Bozon...) on french territory, Shellac also oftenwork with confirmed directors (Philippe Grandrieux, Michel Gondry, Chantal Akerman, Claire Simon, Nabuhiro Suwa, Bertrand Bonello, Arnaud Despallieres, Paul Vecchiali, Pedro Costa...). SHELLAC has been distinguished for its work as a producer and distributor in many occasions: Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, Venise, San Sebastian, Busan, Hong-Kong, BAFICI... Building on its previous success, SHELLAC is launching an international sales arm handling an average of four films a year. SHELLAC s positioning on the international market will reflect its positioning on the French market. As a production partner, SHELLAC specializes in developing promising young talent. And since SHELLAC is a distributor at home in France, the company offers its partners extensive additional expertise, resources and capabilities.

Beneath the modern city there lies a vast labyrinth of galléries, tunnels, sewers, supplies of light, water, gas and telephone, transportation networks and underground stations, areas of leisure ans consumption, basements, garages... An immense spiders web that sits upon and dépends on the visible city; a functional and essential space but also a symbolic area, a hidden sphere: the unconscious of the city. 6 UPCOMING SHELLAC and AFE present DON T WORK a film by CÉSAR VAYSSIÉ From 22 March 2017 to 22 March 2018, we observe Elsa and Gabriel in their daily life. Students in the School of Fine Arts of Paris, they are in love and share an acute reflection on the paradoxes of a world in turmoil they re experiencing while becoming «artists». The gestures apparently senseless, the visual signs of society and events translate into a story with its own aesthetic, sensitivity and anthropology. The story combines the intimacy of the students in The Quartier Latin, the world of Art and the state of the world through the digital era. The editing of the film creates a unique writing. Without words, it composes a choreographic score of pictures. 7 UPCOMING SHELLAC presents FRANCE a film by KIYÉ SIMON LUANG Starring Nini Phonesavanh Vilivong, Marc Barbé, Nathalie Richard. This film is about France, a woman with a French father and a Laotian mother. She works at her family s karaoke restaurant on an old boat at the shores of lake Nam Ngum. She falls in love in Xana, an underwater logger who brings up wood from the forests submerged under the lake. But at the same time she feels attracted to Tony Wong, a quiet and sentimental Chinese billionaire. Hugo arrives in search of his wife Nadine, and stays with France s family. He enters a surreal period of exile, captivated by the lake s splendour. The film explores a complex reawakening far from Europe, at the same time drawing a sensitive portrait of Laos, a country that has left behind its past as a French colony.
