1 FAQ Document Webinar: Experience The Kronos InTouch 1) What platform is the InTouch supported on? The InTouch can work with or greater. There are some new InTouch features that are available only on and greater. 2) What is the cost of one InTouch clock? You can find pricing and receive a quote from your Sales Representative. For ballpark education the MSRP has increased 10% compared to the Kronos 4500 terminals. 3) Is there a reduced cost upgrade path from the 4500 to the InTouch? Any credits for existing customers with 4500 clocks? There is a trade-in program available if you purchased your 4500 between October and December ) Is this available for iseries users? InTouch will be supported in April, 2012 with the release of Kronos iseries Central v6.2. As soon as we have the communications complete for 6.2 then we will be retrofitting the communications to Kronos iseries Central v6.1 but that might be another 90 days or longer. 5) What language do developers write InTouch Apps in? The application is mainly written in Java and the open apps assume someone has basic Java programming capabilities. 6) Will the In touch clock have separate part numbers like the current 4500 or is there a part number that does everything? There will be separate part numbers for different reader type terminals 7) What do you mean it supports 'Cloud'? It can communicate with Workforce Central over the open internet or the "cloud" 8) What service pack release is needed to use InTouch in Workforce Central 6.1 & 6.2? and ) Is the LCD durable, i.e. scratch-resistant? Will the touch screen take some abuse? Is the shield similar to smart phones? Does it have gorilla glass? The screen is extremely durable. It is not made of gorilla glass, but it has a longer expected life span than the rubber buttons on the It has undergone rigorous testing.

2 10) Would you use it in a shop environment? We clean the buttons on the 4500 frequently and need durability. The InTouch is designed to operate in any environment that the 4500 can operate in the life expectancy of the touch screen exceeds that of the rubber buttons on the ) Does the touch screen work if the user is wearing gloves? Gloved operation is supported with the touch screen technology. 12) Will a screen protector affect the usability of the screen? Screen protectors are not offered, but could hypothetically be applied to the screen because it s a resistive touch screen. 13) Do the mounting holes for InTouch match up with the 4500 clocks? Is the InTouch backwards compatible with the 4500 mounting and brackets? If you have 4500 biometric clocks do you need to get new cabling to install this clock, or can it be hung at the same location? Generally to the first two questions plus no and yes to the third question; best to check each installation. The top two mounting holes line up and can be hung in the same location, but the InTouch unit is half the height so if you're mounted over an AC outlet the mounting holes would need to be moved 14) How does the biometric finger scanner react to dirty fingers? The biometric sensor uses an algorithm to measure differences between ridges on someone's fingertip. Dirty fingers, unless they're caked in mud, should not be a problem. 15) Are the biometric readers in the InTouch any more resistant to static electricity discharge than the 4500 biometric devices? The biometric sensor is the same as the ) Can the biometric readers be purchased and replaced by the customer?, they can be purchased and replaced separately. 17) How well does the InTouch do in weather conditions, cold or heat elements. The terminal is designed for mounting on walls in typical office and indoor manufacturing environments. The InTouch was designed to operate from 0 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius. 18) Does the InTouch come as alphanumeric? Currently with InTouch 1.0 we support an alphanumeric, soft key keypad. 19) Can the clock support both barcode as well as proximity at the same time?, with a clock with an internal barcode reader and an external proximity reader

3 20) Is this device capable of video conferencing or is it only VOIP? Video conferencing is not available in the initial release. 21) Live video feeds? Streaming video is not currently available. 22) If I have a problem with my touch screen device and need to send it to Service, can I install one of my old 4500 models temporarily until it is fixed or do I need to buy a spare touch screen device? You can swap in an old 4500, but you will need to make some modifications in WDM. Depot Exchange maintenance agreement offers a replacement terminal in advance so no need to go through the extra work of swapping terminal models and re configuring (twice) 23) Bio Identification vs. Verification. Does this mean you only need to use your finger to punch in and also need to swipe your badge? Verification requires a badge swipe or pin as well as a finger scan. Identification is only a finger scan. 24) Does the InTouch support both biometric verification and identification employees at the same clock? No. The terminal gets configured as a biometric verification terminal or biometric identification terminal. 25) How does InTouch work with our current lease agreement? Can we swap out and just pay a difference in monthly fee, etc.? For pricing details, please contact your Sales Representative. 26) Can this new device be used to open doors (i.e security?) We will be adding support for gate entry in a future software release for the InTouch. 27) What is the purpose of the microphone? There is a new VOIP call for assistance feature on the InTouch. 28) Is the biometric verification more reliable for fingerprints? Is there any noticeable difference? What if finger print is unreadable when an employee punches in? If the sensor cannot detect a user or if the user doesn't place their finger on the sensor correctly it will result in no punch or a rejected punch for an unknown user. If they put their finger on the sensor correctly a punch would be recorded. On the 4500 the employee must enter a pin and then verify with a fingerscan. We have some employees that have problems with their fingerscans after they have enrolled and we have had to set them up as a non-biometric employee so they could continue to punch. The technology for biometrics within the InTouch is the same as it is for the 4500 for backwards compatibility.

4 We did this because we didn't want existing customers to have to re-enroll all of their employees. We are constantly evaluating new biometric technologies for future capabilities. 29) How many biometrics templates does the Kronos InTouch have? The InTouch has the same 4000 template limit for biometric verification that the 4500 clocks. 30) Are you planning to increase the number of templates? We are evaluating options that will make biometric capacity higher. Many of these options reduce reliability of the biometric scanner. Reliability is our top priority. 31) Does the InTouch support HID badges? 32) Can employees use the InTouch to check internal s? The InTouch and 4500 has the capability to read messages of "kmail" or automated system response messages for requested time off etc... We do not have integration with Microsoft Outlook for an employee to read Outlook s on the InTouch. 33) Is there a way for employees to see personal messages when they arrive for their shift? If the message is entered in "kmail" 34) Is the screen single-touch (like an ATM) - or multi-touch (like an ipad)? It is single touch. 35) Does InTouch support wireless networking? Wireless support is on the product roadmap for InTouch 36) What is that thing in the middle of the clock on the top. Is it a camera? How does it work?, it is a camera. But, there is no software support for it currently. We've designed it for future feature considerations. 37) Is there any audio or other solution for visually impaired employees? Not at this time. 38) What is the underlying O/S? Linux? And the screen UI - is it Kronos proprietary?, Linux. The screen UI is 100% Kronos developed. 39) Is the InTouch capable of interfacing with internet dongles or another type of wireless communication? InTouch does not directly support broadband cellular communication.

5 However, using a broadband router and 3G aircard, InTouch can communicate to the Kronos server using a device initiated from any location that has 3G internet access using device initiated communication capabilities with Workforce Central v6.1 or v ) Is there a limit to the amount of applications that can be stored on one device? There is a limit, but it is very high. The clocks will be able to store 100+ apps in most circumstances. 41) Is there a capability available for storing punches in the clock and retrieving manually later? Punches can be stored in the unit indefinitely and can be collected at any point in the future. 42) What is the estimated end-of-life for the 4000-series time clocks? We do not have a planned end of life or end of support for our 4000 series models. When and if we do there will be plenty of customer notice. 43) Can access to certain functions be limited to managers only if we don't want to provide access to employees, such as the override of meal deductions?, separate functionality can be provided for employees and managers. 44) Does the remote desktop allow you to view the screen on the clock? 45) How does VOIP work when calling phones? I assume there is a VOIP gateway required? The call for assistance feature on the InTouch is reliant on the customer having a SIP based IP PBX. 46) Is there a USB port on the device? There are two USB ports internal to the unit. 47) Will there be an "app store" at some point?, this is planned. 48) If I were a store manager and I have 250 employees on that store, I'm on the limit of its capacity, How could I handle transferred employees or corporate visitors? The limit is ONLY on biometric templates for biometric identification. The limit is 500 templates we recommend 2 fingers per employee. 49) Does this device give you the ability to self schedule multiple shift variations on a daily basis? This isn t controlled by the InTouch this is something that would need to be done in our Workforce Central product.

6 50) What about the specifics of scheduling in Kronos? Will this process change or do we have to work with the same functionality we have been using? Scheduling functionality is unaffected although user experience at the clock-end is much improved. 51) Is this upgrade solely about the features that are new to the device? Is Scheduler Planner the same? Scheduler Planner is unchanged by the release of InTouch. 52) How does InTouch handle leave requests? The InTouch supports time-off/leave requests. 53) What are the limitations/capabilities of the video playback of the InTouch terminal? The InTouch is shipped with a Biometric Tutorial video this video can be replaced with an alternative video as long as it meets the proper specifications. 54) How many punches can it hold in case we are having problem with the server? 50,000+ punches 55) Is the biometric technology "capacitive" or image recognition? It is a capacitive type sensor. 56) Is the TouchID still a separate piece needed with InTouch? The TouchID is an optional component however if installed, it is an integrated part of the clock design rather than a bolt-on. 57) How about wireless communication? Wireless (Wi-Fi and Cellular) is on the roadmap for the InTouch terminal. 58) Can we restrict comments from being displayed on the timecard that is viewable on the clock itself? 59) Where can we find the SDK and training materials for customising the InTouch applications? The SDK and documentation is available for customers that own InTouch devices that are currently on maintenance. 60) Do existing Depot Exchange contracts allow swapping out from Terminal 4500 to InTouch? No, not presently.

7 61) Will existing 4500 terminal Smartviews come over to InTouch? 62) Can barcode imager guns be attached to the In-Touch clocks? 63) Can the message capability be device specific? This can be by device or device group. 64) Can you assign tailored messages for different clocks within an organisation? 65) What is the difference between the standard and the slim model? The standard model has extra room inside the unit needed to fit the battery backup, the transition board and other options. The proximity terminal can be ordered in a slim profile or standard and both models will fit the biometric option. 66) Do all models have proximity readers? No they do not all have proximity readers, you would order the type you need. 67) Remote proximity readers - is that one per clock or can multiple readers be processed by one clock? We support two remote readers on the InTouch. 68) What platform does the app run on..windows, Linux, Andriod? Linux 69) Can we develop other apps to run on it?. That is what the InTouch apps SDK is designed for. 70) Is the Device Software Maintenance program also available for the 4500 clocks? 71) Are HID Corporate 1000 (35bit) format Proximity cards supported? Almost all HID Proximity badges including Corporate 1000 are supported although we may need to evaluate the badges to insure we can read the specific formatting used for your badges. 72) Almost all our badges are Proximity cards and I have not heard about SmartCards. What are the advantages? SmartCards are helpful if you want to store additional employee data or have a need for evolving government badge standards.

8 73) I saw that the InTouch has an integrated camera. Are there any plans for implementing facial recognition for verification/identification? We are always evaluating new biometric technologies. We do not feel the technology is far enough advanced for a time and attendance offering at this time, but it might be in the future. 74) Where are the time clocks made? It is American developed and is manufactured by a business partner outside of the U.S. 75) With the 500 employee limit to a clock with Bio-Identification, is that if all employees have Bio-ID? What is the suggestion for employees that float to the unit, can they swipe with a badge? 76) How long does it take to transfer from one job to another? It somewhat depends on how many labour levels they're expected to enter. But, in general the several second range. 77) If the power goes out will the system retain all of the data entered so far or for only 3 hours? It will retain all data if power goes out. We do offer battery backup if you want the device to continue to collect punches for up to two hours while you wait for power to return. 78) Are there any other biometric options (e.g., retina scan)? No we are evaluating alternative biometric technology for the future. None meet our reliability standards at this time. 79) Is there is a buy-back program for our existing 4500 series clocks? Please contact your account executive. We don't have a Kronos program for this but your account exec may be able to offer something. 80) Is an adapter included for non-poe ports? No. The customer must provide the PoE on the Ethernet cable. 81) We have a custom leave request form running on the 4500's that was developed several years ago by Kronos Consulting. What has your experience been on running older custom clock apps on the In-Touch devices? Some modification will be required, but it should be minimal.

9 82) When you release new versions for this - will it just be software/firmware upgrade or new hardware? We are planning for software releases and not relying on hardware revisions. 83) Are there additional license requirements to use the Leave request on the InTouch clock other than Timekeeper/Accruals licenses? It is equivalent to the 4500.
