2 CLINICIANS PROFILES An avid orchestral musician, Victoria Rose Bishop currently serves as Principal Flute of the Southeast Iowa Symphony, Principal Flute of the American Gothic Performing Arts Festival Orchestra, Principal Flute of the Southeast Iowa Band, Second Flute and Piccolo of the Ottumwa Symphony, Second Flute of the Quincy Symphony, and Piccolo of the Oneota Valley Orchestra. As an active chamber musician and collaborator, Ms. Bishop is the flutist of the Durward Contemporary Music Ensemble and the GRIT Collaborative New Music Ensemble. She also regularly performs with Orchestra Iowa, the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band, and the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra. Equally committed to music education, Ms. Bishop is the Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Cornell College, Kirkwood Community College, Mount Mercy University in Iowa, and at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri where she has been teaching Applied Flute and music courses since As a private teacher, she maintains a large flute studio of over fifty students of all ages at West Music, her home, and several local schools in the Iowa City area. In April of 2016, she was invited as a guest clinician to present a piccolo master class at the St. Louis Flute Fair. She has also served as the Instructor of Flute and Conductor of the New Horizon s Flute Ensemble in Iowa City. This year is full of exciting performances and teaching opportunities! In September, she hosted the first annual Cornell College Flute Day for students grades 7-12 for junior high and high school honor band and all-state preparation. She commissioned Nicole Chamberlain s The Cat s Pajamas for the students to premiere as part of the event. October brings a special performance of Eric Ewazen s Concerto for Piccolo and Wind Ensemble with the CulverStockton College Wind Ensemble. In March 2019, Ms. Bishop will present master classes, solo recital, and perform the Midwest Regional Premiere of Peter Senchuk s Concerto for Flute and Wind Ensemble with the Kansas Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble as part of her residency. Ms. Bishop has been invited as a guest artist this year at Graceland University, Drake University, Central College, and a residency with her chamber ensemble, Durward, at Coe College. As an orchestral soloist, Ms. Bishop was invited to perform Cécile Chaminade s Concertino for flute and wind ensemble as guest soloist with the Monmouth College Wind Ensemble. While completing her Masters Degree, Ms. Bishop performed as the flute soloist for J.S. Bach s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 with members of the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Additional accolades include Honorable Mention at the St. Louis Flute Fair Young Artist Competition, Finalist for the Georgia State University Concerto Competition, and winner of the Georgia State University Honors Recital Competition. Ms. Bishop holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Iowa where she studied with Nicole Esposito and a Bachelor of Music degree from Georgia State University where she studied with Sarah Kruser Ambrose, and has engaged in post-graduate study with Jim Walker and Erica Peel. At the University of Iowa, she performed as Principal Flute with the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Band, the Chamber Orchestra, and with the TREBS Flute Quartet. Ms. Bishop held the Principal Flute position in both the Georgia State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and University Orchestra. This past June Rose Bishop attended Music House International at the Philadelphia Orchestra Summer Festival in Pennsylvania, where she won the principal flute position in the festival orchestra, coached several chamber groups, taught lessons, and studied with former associate principal flute Loren Lind and current piccoloist Erica Peel. Ms. Bishop has also performed in Jim Walker s Beyond the Master Class at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles,

3 California, the Flauti al Castello summer master class in Tuscany, Italy, and the Iowa Piccolo Intensive in Iowa City, Iowa. She has also performed in master classes with Kensho Watanabe, Assistant Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violin of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and flutists Michel Bellavance, Leone Buyse, Nicole Esposito, Carl Hall, Sarah Jackson, Angela Jones-Reus, Walfrid Kujala, Sergio Pallottelli, Christina Smith, and Jim Walker. Ms. Bishop performs on a Miyazawa Elite Flute with a gold lip and platinum riser, rose gold lefreques, and a Hammig Piccolo. Michael Prucha is the adjunct woodwind instructor at Graceland University. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Master of Music in Woodwind Studies and an Artist s Certificate from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He is currently working toward a doctorate in oboe performance at the UMKC Conservatory. He performs as a woodwind doubler and has worked with the Kansas City Repertory Theater, the Omaha Playhouse, and the Rose Children s Theater. Michael has worked as a substitute announcer and assistant music programmer at Classical 90.7 KVNO in Omaha since 2013 and hosted KVNO s Modern Classics from He has studied oboe with Celeste Johnson, Barb Bishop, Jason Sudduth, and Susan Tomkiewicz, saxophone with Zachary Shemon and Darren Pettit, clarinet with Jane Carl, John Klinghammer, and Cynthia Nichols, flute with Mary Posses, and bassoon with Marita Abner. Dr. Larkin Sanders is a native of Branson, Missouri and currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri where she works as the Director of Marketing and Community Engagement for the Friends of Chamber Music, is the Secretary of the American Single Reed Summit, maintains a private clarinet studio, and performs with various ensembles. Most notably, Larkin is the founder, executive-artistic director, and a clarinetist of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, a summer music festival in Branson, Missouri. Dr. Sanders is also a Woodwind Method Clinician for D'Addario Woodwinds, for which she frequently gives masterclasses and lectures. She is also a Selmer Paris Artist and performs on Selmer Présence clarinets in addition to D'Addario Reserve mouthpieces and Reserve Classic reeds. In addition to her activities as a clarinetist, teacher, and administrator, Dr. Sanders is also a composer who has a fondness for songs and unique chamber ensembles. Larkin has had her works performed in a variety of settings. Her works are inspired by the talents of her friends and colleagues, and the genres of her works span from chamber operettas, art songs, children's music, and more. Dr. Sanders recently completed her Doctor of Music degree in clarinet performance and a certificate in arts administration at Florida State University. At FSU, she has studied clarinet with Dr. Frank Kowalsky and Dr. Deborah Bish. Larkin also holds a master of music degree from Michigan State University where she studied clarinet with Dr. Justin O Dell and composition with Dr. Ricardo Lorenz. Previously, she earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Kansas while studying clarinet with Dr. Stephanie Zelnick and Dr. Larry Maxey. In addition to her exciting musical activities, Dr. Sanders is also an avid craftswoman and enjoys sewing, furniture rehab, and other creative activities. In her free time, she enjoys creating things, reading, and spending time with her Norwegian forest cat, Miles, and her pup, Miko.

4 A Southern California native, Patrick Olmos enjoys a wide variety of musical interests. An accomplished chamber musician, Patrick has performed across the United States and competed on the national level in several of the country s most prestigious chamber music competitions. As a soloist, he made his concerto debut in 2014 with the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Orchestra. In May of 2018 Patrick was a national prize-winner at the Music Teacher s National Association Young Artist s Competition. As an avid music educator, Patrick enjoys teaching music at all levels and serving diverse populations. Patrick earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California Sate University - Long Beach and a Master of Music degree from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. His primary teachers were James Barrera and Zach Shemon. Guinevere McIntyre has led an active horn studio at Drake University since she was appointed teaching artist in Her students have been accepted for further studies at institutions such as Indiana UniversityBloomington, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Mannes, and the Manhattan School of Music, and gone on to a diverse range of careers, including performing and teaching positions. Ms. McIntyre has enjoyed invitations to teach students regionally, nationally, and internationally, from close to home in area high schools in private lessons and master classes, to working with students at the University of Nanjing (China) as guest lecturer in horn in the spring of Ms. McIntyre has held positions as Assistant Principal horn with the Charlotte Symphony, Co-principal horn with the Midland-Odessa Symphony, Principal horn with Houston's progressive Orchestra and the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, and hornist with Houston's leading music theatre company, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS). Additionally, she has performed with the Shreveport Symphony, South Arkansas Symphony, Longview Symphony, Abilene Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, and the Des Moines Symphony Orchestras. She has backed up a variety of artists in concert, from Joshua Bell to fiddler Mark Connor to popular artists James Taylor, Dennis DeYoung, Josh Groban, and the Moody Blues. She was engaged as principal horn in the New York String Orchestra Seminar for concerts in Carnegie Hall with Jaime Laredo. Recordings and broadcasts include Mahler Symphony No. 3 as Principal horn with the IU Philharmonic, Arpad Joo, conductor, and the Schubert Octet on Live from Festival Hill. Ms. McIntyre is also active as a chamber musician, and has performed with the Houston-based woodwind quintet Wind Expressions, the Drake University Faculty Brass Quintet, and the Des Moines Symphony Woodwind Quintet. She toured the Rheinland-Pfaltz region of Germany with renowned saxophone soloist Eugene Rousseau, under the German government sponsored chamber music program Villa Musika, featuring music for woodwind quintet plus saxophone. As part of the European Mozart Foundation, she performed chamber music concerts in Krakow, Poland, and Prague, Czech Republic. Also an accomplished performer on the natural horn, she toured with the IU Baroque Orchestra as co-soloist with IU natural horn professor Richard Seraphinoff, and in 2007, was engaged to perform as soloist with the Baroque Orchestra of Iowa. Trained by some of the world's most respected artists and pedagogues, most influential being Myron Bloom, Michael Hatfield, Philip Farkas, and Frank Portone, she shares a breadth of international experience with her

5 students. At the Krakow Mozart Academy, Ms. McIntyre had the opportunity to study with legendary European musicians including Aurele Nicolet, Milan Turkovich, Andre Cazalet, and Boris Pergamenchikow. She received her high school diploma from North Carolina School of the Arts, and her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Performance from Indiana University-Bloomington. Ms. McIntyre values her experience as the Marketing Director of the Shreveport Symphony where she worked heavily to engage all communities of the Shreveport-Bossier area, including working with hip-hop DJ Daddy Ro and regional politicians. Her tenure as Marketing Director resulted in a notable increase in TV interviews and appearances, as well as the largest audience for the Martin Luther King tribute concert that the SSO had experienced. Dr. Kelsey Shields is a trumpet educator, performer, arranger, and scholar in the Kansas City area. Currently, she is an Adjunct Instructor of Music at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri and a trumpet instructor in Blue Springs, Missouri. As a Performer, she has won International Trumpet Guild competitions, played in the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and performed at the Bay View Music Festival. In 2017, she presented a lecture-recital at the International Women s Brass Conference. Dr. Shields earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. She received her Master of Music in Music Education form the Eastman School of Music and her Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Truman State University. A native of Charles City, Iowa, Dr. Nathan Dishman is Assistant Professor of Trombone at Iowa State University, and previously served on the faculty at the University of Virginia and Morehead State University. He received a Bachelor of Music in education with a jazz emphasis from the University of Northern Iowa. He was awarded the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance where he was an Ovation Scholarship Recipient. His document, A Guide to Daily Maintenance for Trombone, is published by Ensemble Publications. Dr. Dishman has performed and presented at the 2014, 2015, and 2016 International Fellowship of Conductors, Composers, and Collaborators. In April of 2009, he was one of six international tenor trombone participants selected by Joseph Alessi, principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic, to take part in the prestigious Alessi Seminar in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Dishman was also a participant of this bi-annual event in He has been a finalist in competitions including the Eastern Trombone Workshop Solo Competition and the ZellmerMinnesota Orchestra International Trombone Competition.

6 Nathan recently released a solo album, Conversations, which includes several jazz and classical crossover pieces. He has been a member of the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, DiMartino Osland Big Band, Charlottesville Symphony, Des Moines Symphony, Saint Joseph Symphony, Lee s Summit Symphony, and Liberty Symphony. Nathan has performed regularly with members of the Kansas City Symphony including the Kansas City Symphony Brass Ensemble. His primary teachers include JoDee Davis, Roger Oyster, Nancy Vogt, Paul Pollard, Paul McKee, and Bruce Tychinski. Ravil Bo Atlas, MM, is adjunct instructor of low brass for the music department at Graceland University. He is also principal tubist with the Des Moines Symphony. For three seasons, Atlas served as principal tubist with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra while completing his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Kansas. He has been active as a freelance musician performing with groups such as the Lincoln Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Kansas Brass Quintet, Blackhouse Improviser s Collective, Kansas City Brassworks and the Fountain City Brass Band. An avid supporter of new music, Atlas commissioned a new work Hybrid Entities by composer Ben McMillan and has been a member of the North American Tuba Repertoire Initiative for multiple years. Atlas, himself a burgeoning composer, has had multiple performances of his tuba ensemble works Remembrance, Finding the Silver Lining, and the bass trombone solo Soliloquy. Atlas is a much sought-after soloist and has received many accolades for his solo work including semi-finalist at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in 2010, finalist at the Arapahoe Philharmonic Concerto Competition in 2011, winner of the University of Kansas Symphony Concerto Competition in 2012, winner of the Great Plains Regional Tuba Conference solo competition in 2009 and winner of the U.S. Army Band Mock Audition in He has studied tuba with Craig Fuller, Scott Watson, Patrick Stuckemeyer, Tony Clements, Peter Warhaftig, Sam Pilafian and Christian Carichner.
