4 CHIP DE STEFANO Chip De Stefano received both his Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance and Master of Music Education Degrees from Northestern niversity. While at Northestern he studied conducting ith John P. Paynter Steve Peterson and Don Oens trombone ith Frank Crisafulli and Art Linsner and music education ith Bennett Reimer Donald Casey Jim Kjelland and Peter Webster. Mr. De Stefano as director of the Northestern niversity Basketball Band (-) and the niversity Jazz Lab Band (-). In addition to these responsibilities he assisted ith all the office of band s performing organizations and had conducting appearances ith the ind ensemble symphonic band trombone ensemble and marching band. Mr. De Stefano is currently in his th year as Director of Bands at McCracken Middle School in Skokie Illinois. nder his direction the McCracken Symphonic Band has received first division ratings at all district and state organization contests of the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) and has made multiple appearances at the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) All-State Conference and the niversity of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival. In 00 the Symphonic Band performed at the Michigan Music Education In-Service Conference/MENC North-Central Conference and as most recently invited to present a concert at the 00 0th Anniversary Midest Clinic: An International Band and Orchestra Conference. As a published arranger and composer Mr. De Stefano has received commissions from the marching bands of Northestern niversity Samford niversity the niversity of Wisconsin-LaCrosse the niversity of Idaho and dozens of high schools from across the nited States. His orks have been performed on ABC s Rose Bol Halftime Sho Live! ith Regis and Kathy Lee and WBBM Nes Radio 0. Mr. De Stefano s orks are available from Grand Mesa Music Kagarice Brass Editions and DeStefanoMusic.com. Mr. De Stefano s professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference the Illinois Music Educators Association the National Band Association the International Trombone Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. De Stefano is a recipient of nine National Band Association Citations of Excellence. He as aarded the Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Aard in 00 and the IGSMA Barbara Buehlmann Young Conductor Aard in 00.

5 MCCRACKEN MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM SKOKIE ILLINOIS The Village of Skokie is located just miles northest of donton Chicago. Home to approximately 0000 residents Skokie covers 0. square miles of land. Superior municipal services together ith the nationally acclaimed Skokie Park District the superb Skokie Public Library the preeminent Northshore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park and outstanding school districts make Skokie an excellent place to live. The Village is a recipient of the Governor's Hometon Aard and has received "All America City" finalist distinction from the National Civic League. SKOKIE SCHOOL DISTRICT. Skokie School District. is home to approximately 00 kindergarten through th grade students. We have three schools: Elizabeth Meyer School (pre-kindergarten and kindergarten) John Middleton School (grades through ) and Oliver McCracken Middle School (grades through ). Our students have ancestral origins from all over the orld. Nearly half of our students are bilingual speaking nearly 0 languages. Our students are more diverse economically racially religiously linguistically and socially than most schools in the surrounding suburbs. Our community embraces and celebrates this diversity and appreciates the opportunity children and families have to interact and form friendships ith such a ide spectrum of people. McCracken Middle School serves a population of about students. Recognized as a National School of Excellence by the Blue Ribbon School Program in 00 McCracken students achieve not only academic success but have a tradition of excelling in the fine arts. MCCRACKEN MIDDLE SCHOOL SYMPHONIC BAND Currently students in grades four through eight participate in the Symphonic Band Concert Band th grade Band Beginning Band and various chamber ensembles. The McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band among the elite of middle school bands in Illinois has performed at several prestigious events in recent years including to performances at the MENC North-Central Conference (00 and 00) several performances at the IMEA All-State Conference and a performance at the 00 Midest Clinic. The Symphonic Band has made eight appearances at the niversity of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival being selected as the honor band in and 00. The Symphonic Band has also received consecutive superior ratings at the Illinois Grade School Music Association District Organization Contest and has been selected as an honors ensemble at all six IGSMA State Festivals. The Symphonic Band has also performed at the IMEA Music Education Day at the Capitol Plainfield Concert Band Festival the Midest Music Festival Skokie Festival of Cultures AYSO Opening Ceremonies and WBBM Nes Radio 0 0th anniversary promotion. In the spring of 00 the band as highlighted in WLS-TV s (Chicago s ABC affiliate) feature Someone You Should Kno. Three times in the last seven years Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen and the Village Board of Trustees have passed resolutions honoring our students' outstanding achievements in instrumental music. The success of our band program is due to the hard ork of the administration the parents the community the educators and most importantly our students.
