1 Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong 2011 Summer Austria Music Tour (15 Jul 25 Jul) ~ A Lifetime Experience of Music Enlightenment ~ We are writing to introduce to you and your child our 2011 Vienna Music Academy Summer Program. In 2009, we led our members and parents to experience the unique music learning training at Johann Brahms School of Music ( JBSM ) of Mürzzuschlag in Austria and received positive response. The academy aims at providing young music learners with a unique opportunity to learn, to make and to share music with some of the most distinguished artists and professors from Austria. In addition to musical training, the Academy provides an ideal platform to learn about the Austrian culture, their language (German) and exchange experience and ideas. Students will tour historic sites and follow the footsteps of famous composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Haydn and Strauss. They will also be exposed to Austrian folk music and participate in Austrian folk dance, as well as form their own chamber music ensembles amongst friends and play music. It adds great value to you and your child and it will become a valuable lifetime experience of musical enlightenment. For your Child Prof. Ernst Smole, will be the Director of the Summer Music Academy and together with his professional faculty, students will learn music in various forms including instrumental, ensemble skills and master-classes. An open-to-public graduation concert will be held at the end of the Academy and a graduation certificate will be presented to students by Prof. Smole. Seeing is Believing! Johannes Brahms School of Music, Austria ( BSM ) Johannes Brahms School of Music (BSM), Mürzzuschlag is under the patronage of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and is the starting point of many talented Viennese musicians nowadays. BSM was established in 1948 in Mürzzuschlag of Austria; it now has more than 600 music students. The school is under patron of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and students are trained in the direction of orchestral musicians. The school regularly invites world famous musicians for master-classes and concerts. The school is famous in Austria for training young talented music students. In 2005, BSM has invited the most famous conductor, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, to conduct a concert with the Johannes Brahms School of Music Orchestra. In 1884/1885, the renowned composer Johannes Brahms composed in Mürzzuschlag his 4th symphony. In the year between 1913 and 1929, Anton Webern also lived in Mürzzuschlag and composed many of his works. Gustav Mahler lived in this place and Clara Schumann also visited Brahms in Mürzzuschlag. Every year there is Brahms Music Festival and workshop of Anton Webern in Mürzzuschlag.

Conductor: Professor Ernst Smole (Director of BSM Summer Music Academy) A highly regarded music educator in Austria, Professor Smole is the award recipient of the Nikolaus Harnoncourt Award (2008) presented by the Switzerland Government, praising his innovative pedagogic method and his contribution to music education. During his the course of his studies, Professor Smole dedicated to the study of Music Education, Cello Performance and Conducting. Being a devoted music educator, Professor Smole is appointed as the Director of Johannes Brahms Music School Mürzzuschlag since He is also the Guest Professor of various universities in Austria and Germany and he constantly gives conducting masterclasses in Austria, Hungary, Germany, as well as Japan. He has worked with numerous orchestras across Europe, like Orchestra of Vienna Volksoper (Austria), Moscow Philharmonic (Russia), Orchestra of Budapest Conservatory (Hungary) and Romanian State Philharmonic (Romania), to name a few; Dallas Symphony in the US as well as Kosei Symphony Orchestra Tokyo in Japan. Soloist he has worked with includes violinist Henryk Szeryng, pianist Alexander Jenner and bassoonist Milan Turkovich, amongst others. 3. Choral Coach: Robert Rieder Vocal training is an indispensible part of whole music training and is one of the best ways to enhance musicianship by training a musician s inborn instrument. At academy, students will be coached by Robert Rieder, who was an alto soloist with the Vienna Boys Choir. After his time as a chorister he went on to study church music, music education, organ and conducting, with special emphasis on choral conducting. Robert was a member of the prestigious Vienna Chamber Choir (Wiener Kammerchor) and Concentus Vocalis, has conducted his own church choir in numerous concerts. Robert is also active as a jazz musician. He writes his own arrangements, and was a member of the vocal jazz ensemble John Doe. In 2001, Rieder was appointed choirmaster of one of the Vienna Choir Boys touring ensembles. He has led them on tours through China, Germany, Spain, Iceland, Japan, Korea, Switzerland and the United States.

Balanced should be settled on or before 17 June 10 (Fri). cancellation and the deposit will be forfeited. We are not obliged to any changes requested by tour participants in all agreed arrangement, e.g. transportation, itinerary, meals or hotel. The following schedule of penalty charges will be applied if any tour participant cancels or changes the reservation in writing days prior to departure, 75% of the total tour fare per person 30 days prior to departure, 100% of the total tour fare per person The above penalty apply to each individual cancellation The validity of all refund must be collected within 3 months from the departure day of the tour.
