The Phoenix Symphony and Chorus will burst forth with the famous Ode to Joy and fill Symphony Hall with the majestic sounds of one of the greatest musical compositions ever written. CLASSICS 3 Sibelius Violin Concerto Conducted by Gregory Vajda October 18, :00 am October 18, :00 pm October 19, :00 pm Gregory Vajda, conductor Philippe Quint, violin Bartók: Hungarian Sketches Sibelius: Concerto in D minor for Violin & Orchestra, op. 47 Sibelius: Finlandia, op. 26 Kodály: Variations on a Hungarian folksong, The Peacock Hailed as a young titan, Guest Conductor Gregory Vajda takes the podium to conduct Jean Sibelius ambitious Violin Concerto in D minor. This melodic masterpiece is performed by Philippe Quint, a multi-faceted Grammy-nominated soloist whose sure-to-be brilliant performance is not to be missed. The program also includes Sibelius rousing and turbulent Finlandia and Bartók s Hungarian Sketches. Müller- Schott s technical brilliance will light up the stage for this beautiful and challenging performance.
