2 It is a huge privilege for me to take over the running of the Town Hall organ recitals from Simon Lindley, who has built the series into one of the most successful in the country, and to be presenting another season of world class recitals on this versatile and exciting instrument, which I played for the first time in In the 2017/18 series, not only do we welcome established international concert artists, we also provide a platform for some fine young players at the start of, we hope, flourishing careers as organists. Simon (now City Organist Emeritus) continues his involvement in the series with his ever popular guest artists David Greed, Phillip McCann and Maggie MacDonald. He also joins John Scott Whiteley from York Minster for our celebration of Dr Francis s 100th anniversary on 2 October. With organ solo repertoire from the 17th to the 21st centuries, and transcriptions from to Johann Strauss and Gershwin, we continue the tradition of combining well-loved favourites with less familiar but no less thrilling works.
