1 Tribe of Doris Main Event 2015 Programme by Day Welcome to Tribe of Doris Main Event We re really excited to be back for our first official year at Stanford Hall. It s a glorious new site with lovely hosts and we are ready to share lots of music, dance, movement, creativity and food with you. re are over 50 workshops a day covering many corners of the world. Whether you have a passion in need of nurturing or would like to try some new experiences there is something in the programme for everyone. Try something you ve never done before, make some new friends and eat some delicious food from the stalls and the Doris Kitchen. Come Saturday night we will all be ready to share and celebrate the wonderful things we ve learnt with each other. TASTER SESSION Wednesday sessions are shorter tasters for you to get an idea of what will be happening in the workshops. Workshops from Thursday onwards are longer sessions that will build on each other. NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT As well as a nightly open mic (except Saturday night) we have a Ceilidh on Wednesday, a DJ night on Thursday, and a Party night on Friday. PERFORMANCE We will, of course, have our Saturday night performance featuring some of the wonderful things that you have learnt. Some performances will take place in the Sunday Closing Ceremony. If a workshop isn t named on either of the performance schedules then the workshop doesn t work towards a performance. EXPERIENCE LEVELS Some workshops are levelled by experience and are marked with Beg (Beginners), Int (Intermediate) and Adv (Advanced) South African Song Masterclass Jewish Singing Drum Opening Ceremony 16:00-17:00 Tibetan Alphonse Collaborative Baba Ade 18:00-19:00 VENUE NAMES We asked our lovely Doris community to gives us words in different cultures that describe a gathering place. Longhouse - A long singular room used all over the world for ceremonies, gathering and community events. Marae - marae is the focal point of Māori communities throughout New Zealand. It is the meeting grounds where important communal and tribal events happen. Barracão - A North Brazilian hut used for candomblé ceremonies. Sanganai House - Meaning lets get together in Shona is where the community meets to discuss, sing, worship their ancestors eat, drink and dance till dawn. Maloka - Community meeting space in Colombia used by indigenous tribes.
