About these instructions 1 About these instructions 1.1 Contents These instructions for use contain the following information: First installation of extended satellite reception systems (2, P. 7) Operation of the Live TV/radio and Program Guide (3, P. 8ff) Settings on the Main Menu (4, P. 17ff) All further details can be found in the Quick Start Guide at Go to SAT Products Receivers Satellite receivers (DVB-S). The information about your receiver model can be downloaded from the product page. Tip The contents of screen shots of TV set displays are generally examples. This applies in particular when the contents of screen shots show specific channels. 1.2 Markings Pre-requirements for certain functions External USB storage medium Certain functions of the receiver can only be performed when an external USB storage medium is connected. These functions are marked with the symbol shown on the right. 4 of 40

1.2.2 Symbols General warning sign Risk of damage to property Tip Instruction for installation or operation of the unit, or for use of the instructions Signal words The signal words are used in conjunction with the symbols shown above: Warning Caution Important This signal word indicates a hazard with a medium level of risk which can lead to death or severe injuries. This signal word indicates a hazard with a low level of risk which can lead to minor or moderate injuries. This signal word indicates a hazard which can lead to damage to property. 1.3 Abbreviations and technical terms Antenna DiSEqC TM EPG FAT32 HDMI Live mode LNB NTFS Satellite antenna see Satellite antenna DiSEqC TM (Digital Satellite Equipment Control) is a digital control signal system which allows reception from more than one satellite. EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is an electronic Program Guide which the receiver displays on the TV set. FAT32 (File Allocation Table) is a widely-used file system for files up to 4 GB. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a digital interface for video and audio. In Live mode the TV set shows a programme that is currently being broadcast. The LNB (Low Noise Block Converter) is located at the focal point of a satellite antenna. The LNB converts the satellite frequencies into lower frequencies which can be processed by a satellite receiver. NTFS (New Technology File System) is a proprietary Microsoft file system. Within this document, satellite antenna means a parabolic antenna (parabolic reflector, "satellite dish"). Exceptions are marked. 5 of 40

About these instructions S/PDIF Transponder Transponder frequency UTC S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format) is a digital interface for electrical or optical transmission of digital audio signals such as Dolby Digital AC-3. see Transponder frequency A transponder is a frequency converter within the satellite, which broadcasts the TV and radio signals to earth at a specific transponder frequency. Each satellite has several transponders. Analogue transponders broadcast only one TV channel and possibly several radio channels on a single transponder frequency. Digital transponders broadcast several TV channels and possibly several radio channels on a single transponder frequency. UTC (Universal Time, Coordinated) is the coordinated world time based on the London Greenwich zero meridian. Central European Time (CET) corresponds to UTC+1:00. In summer the time used is Central European Summer Time (CEST) which corresponds to UTC+2:00. 6 of 40

2 First installation of extended systems Important The descriptions in this document assume that the device has been correctly connected in accordance with the Quick Start Guide supplied. Tip The connection of optional Kathrein components for extended systems is described in the instructions for the optional components. The receiver has comprehensive setting facilities for extended systems; which are described under 4, P. 17ff. The settings can subsequently be changed again at any time. 7 of 40

4.3 Installation Tip Gather information about the characteristics of your satellite system before you change the settings in the Installation menu. If required, call in the specialist who installed your system. Information on the reception parameters of individual channels can be found for instance at Antenna Settings Live TV/Radio MENU Installation Antenna Settings (Fig. 10) Satellite 1 (Fig. 10) Satellite for which the parameters are to be set. Tip The signal from the satellite must be present at the receiver's tuner input. The antenna parameters listed below can be set up individually for each satellite. This allows reception from several different satellites. Transponder 2 (Any) transponder, for which the signal strength and quality shown in 8 can be checked. LNB type 3 Type of LNB installed in 6 and 7. Tip The other antenna settings depend on the type of LNB installed. The types of LNB are listed individually below, with their respective antenna settings Fig. 10: Antenna Settings 19 of 40

DiSEqC 1.1: Set None. Reception of up to 64 satellites (system type DiSEqC 1.1) 1) DiSEqC 1.0: Set the LNB to receive the set satellites under 1 (Fig. 10). DiSEqC 1.1: Set the LNB (matrix / multi-switch) 1) to which the LNB set under DiSEqC 1.0 is connected. There is no need to input leading zeros. Tip Information about the Unicable LNB type (single-cable system) In the single-cable system several receivers/participants are connected to a common antenna cable This means that: Channels from several satellites are transmitted on transmission channels. Each transmission channel has a fixed receiver/subscriber assigned to it. Note: Only one receiver/subscriber assigned may be assigned to each transmission channel, to prevent cross-channel interference. One Center Freq is assigned to each IF Channel. Note: Refer to the documentation of the single-cable system multi-switch to determine which frequency you must assign to which transmission channel. For example Fig. 11 the channel frequency assignment of the multi-switch is EXR One of the satellites configured in the single-cable system is assigned to each of the LNB types Unicable A, B or C. Note the difference between a single-device system and a single-cable system. You can find more information on this in the Quick Start Guide under 6.1, P. 10.
