As a distributor, one of our key roles is getting product to our customers ASAP. Well hello Memphis! Memphis is not just the birthplace of Elvis, Rock n Roll and the Blues. It is a multi-carrier transportation hub! In 1996, a struggling Memphis economy spawned the need for attracting business. The Think Memphis business development plan was initiated and they worked the plan with exemplary results. With its innovation, strategic location and natural resources, Memphis delivers. Early this summer, D&D effectively consolidated a substantial amount of its extensive inventory into a prime Memphis location. We are confident that this is a great opportunity for Dugmore and for our loyal customers. 2 Out of the Blue Page Two Fall 2004 SARGENT introduces a plug-in connector system that allows installers to quickly and easily connect SARGENT locks with CURRIES doors & frames and McKINNEY hinges all without drilling, soldering or wirenuts. ElectroLynx standardizes door wiring of electrified products from SARGENT, CURRIES and McKINNEY. Using the ElectroLynx plug-in universal connectors and color-coded wire system, wiring is a snap and completely fool-proof. This pre-wired opening system features Molex connectors that snap together, attaching the door, hinge and lock to the building s power source. 3 Out Out of the ofblue the Blue Page Page Three Three Fall 2004 As a Cullum, Bill was immersed in the family business from the get go. Through the years he has had the Bill Cullum option of Warehouse Operations trying his Manager hand in the various operations of Dugmore & Duncan. In 1993, he participated in a warehouse redesign project and he found his niche. Bill is now a master at warehouse operations and has responsibility for all of our locations as Warehouse Operations Manager. Travel is essential to Bill s role and travel he does! Wherever a need arises, Bill is there. His affinity for organization is impressive and his willingness to relocate makes him ideal for logistical purposes. Bill s latest project has involved setting up our facility in Tennessee. Dugmore s careful scrutiny of the shipping capabilities around the country resulted in selecting Memphis as the key location to consolidate a sizable portion of our warehouse inventory from existing locations. Bill s experience with inventory control, warehouse design and setup supported his effort in planning his work and working his plan. At this point in time, Bill is settled in Memphis and running the day-today operation of our newest venture. Bill notes that his current interests involve traveling reading, softball, skiing, chess and relentlessly cheering for the Red Sox. When praised for his accomplishments Bill quickly gives the credit to the talented, dedicated, and hardworking people of which D&D is comprised. Melissa joined D&D s Memphis team on July 12, She was born and raised in Brockton, MA where she graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School. Melissa attended Franklin Melissa Deeter Pierce College and U MA Shipper Boston. An aspiring writer, Melissa is inquisitive about her surroundings. She has enjoyed working in a variety of fields from coffee shop to retail to medical lab. She is enthusiastic about her new life in Memphis where she continues her hobbies that include lots of reading and writing in addition to Yoga and Pilates. Grooming her cats, Marvin & Noodles, serves as her relaxation. When asked about her relationship with D&D, Melissa replied that the most important aspect right now is that she enjoys working with her amiable co-workers. Matt was raised and educated in Riverside, CA. He attended Riverside Community College briefly and then, pursued his lifelong dream of a career in music. He enjoyed a considerable measure of success as he released a record and Matt Stout went on tour throughout North Picker America. He allowed himself six years of music and travel before he returned to his roots. Back in California in 2000, Matt joined D&D of CA in the picking/shipping dept. In 2004, he agreed to bring his much-appreciated skill and experience to D&D of Memphis! Now settled in Tennessee, Matt continues to enjoy music and moonlights as a soundman/stagehand. In October, Matt will be married to his CA fiancée, Elizabeth, and the newlyweds will start their new life together in TN. Quite an eventful year! Matt says that one of the things he enjoys about working at D & D is the positive environment. His co-workers say what they like best about Matt is his positive attitude. That is a great match! The Profile lock is easily programmed for three primary RF actuation modes: Passage, Standard or Panic. RF Technology is an additional means of operating the lock by direct keypad code entry or proximity credential presentation. 5 Situation: Most often the connectors will come already attached to your lock or McKinney hinge. But, there may be situations when you need to perform a repair or to prepare a special length cable to complete your installation. Solution: With the ElectroLynx system there is no soldering, wire nut or electrical tape involved when connecting the wires to the connectors. With some wire cutters and a crimping tool you can install a wire into the connector with minimal electrical knowledge. Terminal (Male) First, determine which connectors you'll be working with. In the first part of this bulletin we ll show you how to identify the two terminal types and connector styles. Terminal (Female) It s very important to know where the circuit positions are for both the Receptacle and the Plug. By looking at the illustrations directly below, you can see that the positions mirror each other. An easy way to remember which connector you re working with is by locating the thumb snap piece located on the top. If you have located one, then you re working on the Receptacle connector which uses the female terminals. The Plug connector has a small tab on top & uses the male terminals. Circuit Positions Rearview 8 Position Plug (uses male terminals) 8 Position Receptacle (uses female terminals) In most cases, you will be working with the two-conductor cable and a 2 position connector or the eight-conductor cable and 8 position connector. There are other variations that you might encounter, but the method of attachment is the same. 6 Once you have determined which style of connector you wish to attach and the type of terminal you should use, you are ready to begin the crimping process. First, cut a measured length of the appropriate cable. Be sure to add about 2 inches of extra length to allow for the terminals and connectors. Using a cable stripper, remove about 1 inch of the jacket from each end of the gray cable. Be careful not to score the wire insulation. Using an adjustable wire stripper set at 3mm (1/8 ), remove the insulation from each colored wire. This dimension is important in order to properly fasten the wire to the terminal without having excess or frayed strands. Place the wire into the terminal and clamp down the Insulation Crimp and the Conductor Crimp using the Molex Crimping tool Now, all you need to do is insert the terminal into the connector at the proper circuit position and you re done. If you have to extract the terminal from the connector, you will need a device that will allow you to push back the Locking Tangs located on either side of the terminal. We recommend the Molex extraction tool. Just slide the tool alongside the terminal where the Locking Tangs are located and gently twist the handle. This will push the tang back in so that you may extract the terminal without doing damage to the connector housing.
