1 Max Score / Max # Possible - New ABI Gradebook Feature OPTIONAL MAX SCORE TOOL (*EGP users: This was the Max Score / Points feature in EGP.) This feature is for teachers who want to enter Raw Scores for an Assignment but want the scores to be converted to a standard point value. For example: I want all my math homework assignments to count as 10 Points in the student's overall grade no matter how many problems there were on the assignment but I want to enter the raw score into my gradebook. This method would help standardize the value of each homework assignment (to say 10 Points) whether there were 4 problems or 63 problems on the math assignment. Each assignment would count as an equal amount as the raw score would be re-calculated to a point value. Use at your own discretion. Max Score / Max # Possible - New ABI Gradebook Feature - 1

2 Add an Assignment using Max Score / Max # Possible When adding a new assignment, you will see a new dialogue box. 1. Select Assignment Type 2. Type in Description 3. ***Max Score: THIS IS HOW MANY POINTS YOU WANT THE ASSIGNMENT TO BE WORTH. 4. ***Max # Possible: This is for raw score... how many problems or points were on the assignment. This will be converted to the Max Score points. ** In the example screen image above we have forced the score to be worth 10 points even though there were 38 points or problems on the assignment. IMPORTANT - PLEASE PLEASE Please do not use the "Max # Possible" if you don't want the conversion. By default the system places a zero in this field. Leave this field a zero or type in the same number as the MAX SCORE if you do not wish to use this feature. It is important for all teachers to know that this is optional and leave it zero or input the same number as the MAX SCORE to use the Max Score / Max # Possible - New ABI Gradebook Feature - 2

3 original score method. How to enter scores in the Scores By Assignment area To enter a student max # possible please follow these steps. 1. Click on the assignment title. Next you will see a pull down. That has three choices. Max Score / Max # Possible - New ABI Gradebook Feature - 3

4 #Correct Pulldown 1. Important : Select the # Correct in the pull down. 2. Notice the Raw Score in this example is 36 but the MAX SCORE has been set to Enter in the Raw Score in the cell on the left. In this example I entered in that this student received 26 correct out of 36 problems but the Max score is set to 10. Points Pulldown 1. Select Points in the pulldown 2. 5 ** It is important to note that after you enter in the #Correct by using the #Correct pulldown you may then select the POINTS in the pulldown to see the new point conversion. In this example even though I entered 26 points out of 36 points but max score set to 10, when I filter on points it shows that the 26 points correct has been converted to points. (There is no way at this time to get it to round up or down.) ** Important NEVER enter in points in this pull down selection as it will not work backwards to change the #correct. It is really for you to see the conversion as read only. To change a score you must always be in the #Correct pulldown. Percentage Pulldown 1. Select Percentage in the pulldown 2. Click Submit Changes ** Note you will now see the percentage conversion as read only. This is a handy tool to now use to record the % on the student assignment. 6 How to enter scores in the Scores By Class area Next you will see a pull down. That has three choices. #Correct Pulldown 1. Important : Select the # Correct in the pull down. 2. Notice the Raw Score in this example is 36 but the MAX SCORE has been set to 10. (In this view it does not show you that the max is 10- you will have to remember) 3. Enter in the Raw Score in the cell on the left. In this example I entered in that this student received 26 correct out of 36 problems but the Max score is set to 10. 7 Points Pulldown 1. Select Points in the pulldown 2. Click Submit Changes ** It is important to note that after you enter in the #Correct by using the #Correct pulldown you may then select the POINTS in the pulldown to see the new point conversion. 8 Percentage Pulldown 1. Select Percentage in the pulldown 2. Click Submit Changes ** Note you will now see the percentage conversion as read only. This is a handy tool to now use to record the % on the student assignment. Additional Notes - for Awareness 1 This is an example of a gradebook where assignments 1, 3, and 5 have been using the MAX # Possible but assignments 2 & 4 were entered in using the traditional Max Score field only. You need to be very careful when mixing the 2 methods of scoring to not enter the points into assignments 1, 3,or 5 because they have been converted. However, on assignments 2 & 4 you would enter the score here. Max Score / Max # Possible - New ABI Gradebook Feature - 8

9 Additional Notes - for Awareness 2 This is that same example but now I have changes the pulldown to #Correct. Notice that now I can change assignments 1,3 & 5 but because 2 & 4 were entered as max score only they do not show. Do not be alarmed - assignments 2 & 4 are still there. 10 Additional Notes - for Awareness 3 Lastly when I change the pulldown to Percentage you can see I can now see my entire gradebook assignment %'s including overall %. We think this is a pretty neat new feature. Max Score / Max # Possible - New ABI Gradebook Feature - 10
