1 G ensound Dante Intercom & Takback Eight Channe Rackmount Intercom Highights Dante and AES67 Compiant Simpe To Use Inteigeabe Loudspeaker 48kHz Crysta Cear Digita Audio Mains/ PoE Powered Low Noise Microphone Amp Overview The Gensound is a versatie and fuy featured, 8 channe rackmount intercom with crysta cear audio designed for broadcast, theatre and professiona audio appications. It is part of our Beatrice intercom system that utiises the reiabe and proven Dante network audio transmission protoco to aow rea time distribution of uncompressed audio across standard networks, it is aso AES67 compiant. As such the is fuy compatibe with other manufacturers equipment using the Dante and/ or AES67 protocos. Gensound This 1RU rackmount intercom was designed to be very easy to use for the operator and simpe to setup for the technician. It incudes a the basic functionaity required for sma intercom systems and none of the overy compex instaation requirements normay associated with arge systems.

2 G ensound Intercom & Takback Eight Channe Rackmount Intercom 8 Channes Of Intercom One singe user connected to the unit can isten and communicate with 8 separate ocations on the network. Depending upon how the Dante network has been routed the incoming audio circuits and outgoing circuits can be different ocations. 2 Racks make 16 Channes Two Beatrice R8 racks can be joined together by just a pair of digita S/PDIF cabes making a fuy featured 2RU 16 channe intercom unit, with groups, mics, speakers and other resources shared between the 2 units. Dante Routing & Partyine Audio routing to/ from other devices is setup using Dante controer which aows for point to mutipoint routing on outgoing circuits (but ony 1 singe incoming circuit for each of the 8 channes). Therefore we ve incuded an inbuit fixed ratio 14 input 19 output mixer matrix with inputs and outputs connected directy to the Dante / AES67 which aows for setting up partyine and compex group circuits. Onboard Mic & Externa Mic Input A good quaity, cear sounding microphone ampifier designed for communication purposes is fitted which aso has the benefit of a compressor/ imiter circuit to hep keep eves and inteigibiity consistent even when the operator gets overy excited. This microphone amp has two microphone sources, either the inbuit front pane mounted eectret capsue which provides good voice inteigibiity from norma working distances or a baanced XLR input for connecting externa gooseneck microphones to. Tweve Vot Phantom power is aso avaiabe and can be turned on/ off as required via an interna ink. High Output Inteigibe Loudspeaker What s the point of an intercom unit if the onboard speaker is so cheap that you can t understand what is being said to you? We tried hundreds of different drive units before setting on the one used in the Beatrice R8. We chose it because it had a much ceaner sound and better frequency response for vocas than any other speaker on the market that woud fit in a 1RU subrack. Gensound

3 G ensound Intercom & Takback Gensound Eight Channe Rackmount Intercom Mains or PoE Powered An inbuit wide range switch mode mains power suppy is fitted for powering the Beatrice R8. It is terminated with a standard IEC pug, making it easy to pug in wherever you are in the Word. The unit can aso be powered via the Ethernet cabe by standard PoE (Power over Ethernet) on either of the copper Ethernet ports. The PoE power can be suppied by an externa PoE switch or a midspan power injector. Redundant Twin Copper & Twin Fibre Ethernet Interface When utra reiabe communications is needed for the utmost important jobs gitch free redundant network circuits can be set up using the primary and secondary Dante network ports. There are 2 copper Ethernet ports on Neutrik Ethercons and aso 2 fibre Ethernet ports presented as SFP sots (SFP modues not incuded). Redundant networks can be set up across any of these ports. Ÿ GPIO There are nine soid state reay outputs. One of these outputs is triggered when any speak key is on (usefu for dimming externa oudspeakers or red ight contros), the other eight are triggered individuay when their associated channe receives a ca. In tota there are 12 oop cosure inputs. 10 of these contro the tak keys (the 8 channes, tak to group & tak to a) and the other 2 provide interna & externa LS cuts.

4 G ensound Intercom & Takback Gensound Eight Channe Rackmount Intercom Channe Input and Output Gain Contros For maximum fexibiity gain can be appied to incoming audio signas and outgoing signas separatey. A row of LEDs indicate the current gain setting when a channes input or output is being adjusted. Ca Function A simpe ca function is inbuit aowing the operator of one unit to ca/aert other users that they want to communicate with. A bright front pane iuminated yeow round switch is used for caing the other party and aso fashes to indicate that you have been caed. As we as fashing a LED at the receiving end of the ca an audibe beep can be set to aert the user that an incoming ca has been paced to them. Presence Indication A front pane iuminated red switch is used to indicate the presence of incoming audio on that channe. When audio is detected on the channe the switches interna red LED is iuminated, the red LED then stays on for a short period after the incoming audio stops to hep the operator identify who has been taking to them. Speaker Output As we as the front pane interna oudspeaker a baanced anaogue output is provided for connecting to an externa powered oudspeaker.

5 G ensound Intercom & Takback Gensound Eight Channe Rackmount Intercom Loca Input and Output Circuits For increased versatiity there are 2 oca baanced anaogue audio inputs and 2 oca baanced anaogue outputs. The inputs have input gain contros and presence detectors on them (just ike an intercom s channe input) and are routed directy to two output channe on the Dante / AES67 network. The outputs are fed directy from two input channes from the Dante/ AES67 network. Mixer Matrix For Partyine For setting up more compex groups and partyine circuits that coud not be achieved via Dante controer or your AES67 router, an inbuit fixed ratio mixer is suppied. It has 14 audio inputs direct from the network and 19 mix outputs to the network. 5 of the mixers have inbuit automatic audio ducking circuits.
