5 1 About This Product 1.1 Introduction This product is a new generation integrated receiver decoder to support the growing demands for muti-format, muti-standard video deivery and distribution. It can receive digita signas from DVB-S/S2, decrypt, and process/seect programs to various outputs incuding CVBS, component and HDMI. It supports muti-channe descrambing, mutipexing, externa tabe/data insertion. It aso supports video decoding with two audio channes. With remote web-based management interface, it is idea to support advanced appication such as content distribution, rea-time signa conversion and transmission. 1.2 Safety To avoid eectric-shock hazards, do not open the receiver; refer service to quaified personne ony. Do not expose the device in the sunight, and keep it away from the heat source. Do not bock ventiation hoes of the device so that air can circuate freey. Switch the device off whenever it remains out of service for an extended period. Be sure to turn the device off and disconnect the AC power cord before ceaning the receiver surface. The apparatus sha be connected the mains socket outet with a protective earthing connection The appiance couper used as the disconnect device sha remain readiy operabe. This product has gone through reguated EMC test and meets with EMC safety requirement. ( Such tests are conducted in a controed EMC environment. A controed EMC environment exists in a buiding where the instaation has been designed having specia regards to EMC, and where technica personne are present with experience of EMC technoogy.) 4

6 1.3 Architecture The equipment of this section is shown in schematic diagram. It is subject to change for improvement on the rea product without advanced notice. Front Pane PIC Power status indicator: This LED ight is turned on when the IRD is power on. 2. (Signa) Lock status indicator: This LED ight is turned on when a channe is ocked. Otherwise there is no channe ocked. 3. Aarm status indicator: This LED fickers when there is something abnorma. For exampe, the strength of the input signa is too weak. 4. Dispay screen: This LCD screen can show the program and configuration information. 5. CI SLOTS: There are two CI sots for various CAS CAM (PCMCIA) modues. 6. KEY PADS: Up/Down/Left/Right arrow keys: To change channes, to adjust voumes and configure the IRD. Menu: To enter the menu and the quit function of the sub menus. OK: To confirm the operation in the setup. 5

Has the knowedge of digita teevision system. Has defined the sources, racks aocation, and set-up pan system wiring. Knows how to operate this unit and parameters configuration. Go through reated engineering design documents about the system. 9

11 2.3 Check Package and Accessories The IRD package incudes the foowing accessories: Base Unit x1 Power cord x1 Earth cord x1 BNC cord x2 BNC-RCA cord x3 User Manue Disc x1 Quick Instaation Guide x1 2.4 Equipment Wiring and Connection To avoid eectric shock and damage to the equipment, before setting up the wiring connection, pease power off the equipment and a other connected externa devices. The equipment and externa devices must be grounded. Powering on the equipment ony after a the wiring connection is competed. Connection Diagram PIC In actua appication, not a connection interfaces need to be connected with signa/externa devices. Pease connect according to actua appication purpose. To ensure a smooth communication between the management PC and the 10

12 IRD, pease try to connect the IRD management port to a switch without arge data processing Connection Setup for RF Signa Input Connect signa to tuner input with a RF cabe. Connect the IRD Management port to a switch, set up a management network with the management PC. Connect the IRD with the monitor via HDMI, CVBS or component ports. 11

13 3 Operation Guide 3.1. Operation Overview This chapter provides information on how to operate the IRD through front pane and WEB UI. User can seect the most proper operation method to set up the unit Powering Up and Initiaization Before powering-up the device, make sure that a cabing is correcty connected (refer to chapter 3.4 of this manua). The device is correcty connected to the power inet and grounded. Switch on the equipment through the rear power switch, and the unit is powered up and starts the initiaization. The LCD screen is ighted up, and dispay information as foowing: H.264 SD/HD IRD Booting The initiaization takes about 20 seconds to compete, and then the IRD shows the IP address information as foowing: H.264 SD/HD IRD -S2 IP: If the unit fais to initiaize and hangs at the booting stage, swtiching off the device and then powering up again may hep. 17 3.3.2 Front Pane Operation Guide Enter Menu : o Press MENU button to enter main menu. Exit Menu/Back to parent Menu o Upon competion of configuration settings, press MENU button unti you go back to the Parent Menu. Enter Sub-Menu o Press MENU button to enter main menu. o Seect a sub-menu by pressing arrow UP and arrow DOWN button. o Press OK button on the seected sub-menu. To change parameter o Step 1: Enter main menu by pressing MENU button. o Step 2: Scro sub-menu by pressing arrow UP and arrow DOWN button, and press OK button to change the seected sub-menu. o Step 3: To change parameter settings, press arrow RIGHT and arrow LEFT button to move the cursor in which change must be made. o Press arrow UP button and arrow DOWN to input / seect an appropriate setting, then press OK button to save WEB UI Operation (Recommended) Accessing the equipment via Web can be very convenient for remote configuration of the equipment. Reative to the front pane settings WEB operation can provide a more friendy man-machine interface, and with ess imits in space. WEB Management is recommended. 16

18 3.4.1 WEB Management Connecting Connection Instruction PIC Connect the MANAGEMENT port of the IRD to a network switch and connect the management PC/server to the same network switch. 2. The IRD defaut IP address is Pease modify the management server s IP address or IRD IP address to be in the same IP section. To ensure that the equipment is smoothy connected to the network. 3. Open any web browser (e.g. Mozia, internet exporer, safari and etc.), input the equipment s IP address in format: (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx refers to IRD s IP address) and press ENTER button to confirm. The browser wi attempt to connect to the device. If succeed, a ogin page wi appear. (see PIC-3.4.2) Note: Through WEB browser, you can manage severa pieces of HD IRD at the same time, as ong as those equipments are connected to the server via Network Switch. Make sure that the equipment and server s IP address shoud be in the same section. Nevertheess, Subnet Mask and Gateway shoud be the same both the server and the equipment. 17

19 PIC To ogin, you need to enter the defaut username admin and password admin. Then cick Submit. If the user name and password is entered correcty, you wi be redirected directy to the main page Parameters Configuration Main Page PIC Login the WEB network, you can notice that the WEB management network as a whoe is 18

20 divided into two functiona areas: Area to the eft function menu is used to switch in a different configuration menu page. Area to the right, dispays the seected content of the configuration of the menu items. The WEB management page aows you to monitor and/or configure: Status, Preset, Receiver, ASI Output Mode, Program Setting, Program Decryption, PID Seect, CA, Loca Setup, Import/Export, Aarms Setting, User Management, Upgrade, License, Log, Logout and Reboot. Left menu section: This area shows the main menu items of the machine, you can cick the item you want configure or monitor, then the detaied information wi appear in the right area. Left menu section: PIC Right function section: This section is the main pace for monitor and configuration of the machine, it can show you the detaied information, you can operate it as foows: 19

21 Status Page PIC This page shows the current operation status of the equipment. Therefore, you can monitor and check the foowing: Genera Status: if the signa ocked, it shows the signa status in green, otherwise, it shows in red. RF Status: here, you can monitor the main information of RF signa, such as RF eve, frequency tune, frequency offset, FEC. Stream Information: it shows the information of transport stream rate, transport stream ID, origina network ID and stream time. Program Information: here is the information of the program that you seected for output. If the output program is changed, this information wi upgrade automaticay. Video/ Audio: it dispays the video & audio status, decoding errors etc. Unit Information: you can check the version of the hardware and software here. CI Status: if the CI card is pugged in, it wi show here. Active Aarms: it shows the active aarm. Press the Refresh button to refresh the interface. 20

22 Preset PIC There are two parts for this menu: Service Configuration and Service Switch. After configure a parameters, cick Appy to save and Refresh to refresh the interface. ² Service Configuration You can configure the transponder parameters and program PID to specify a required program. The preset ist has up to 20 presets to specify 20 programs. (Parameter settings of transponder and PID pease refer to Tuner Configuration and PID seect ) ² Service Switch PIC Service switch aows switching a program to another in required time range and frequency. PIC Service Switch: enabe or disabe service switch function. Time Source: time source use TDT tabe for time reference. Operation: you can switch current program to another specified program. 21

23 Start: specify a time point to start switch. End: specify a time point to return to previous program. Frequency: choose the period to repeat the operation Inputs Receiver You can configure or modify the parameter of input source here, after configuration you can cick Submit to save and Refresh to refresh the interface. PIC ² Source Seect In this interface, it is abe to choose any of the two sources as input: PIC TUNER: the IRD wi search the signa from the tuner source (need to enter accurate parameters for the signa to ock). ² Source Config This section aows the configuration of input signa to ensure a stabe operation. It shows as 22

24 foows: PIC Source Standard Set: you are abe to set the standard of the source, ² Tuner Configuration incuding DVB and ATSC. PIC Additionay, in this section, you are abe to set the dua RF receiver parameters incuding the Sateite Frequency, Symbo Rate, LNB Frequency, and LNB Votage (Poarization) with accurate vaues. Then you can press the Submit button to save your settings or cick Refresh button to refresh the screen. Frequency Range: it is the frequency of sateite, incuding C band, Ku band and L band. If you want to receive the right sateite signa, it sha be set correcty. SATELLITE FREQUENCY (MHz): this is the sateite down conversion frequency, every transponder has one frequency, and you can get this parameter from the sateite program provider. SYMBOL RATE (KBaud): every transponder has one symbo rate; you can get this parameter from the sateite program provider. LNB Power Suppy: LNB votage is the power that suppy to the LNB in order to receive sateite signa with different poarization. Generay 18V is for Horizonta whie 13V is for Vertica. LNB 22 KHz: Generay this is used to contro 22KHz switch, typicay used for LNB with doube L.O. in Ku band. ON is for high L.O and OFF is for ow 23

25 L.O. LNB LO. Type: this is the type of LNB, incuding Ku band, C band, universa and wide band, which aso can be obtained from the LNB provider. It usuay stays the same with Frequency Range. LNB LO. Frequency: this is the LNB s oca osciation (LO) frequency, every LNB have one or two osciation frequencies which can be obtained from the LNB provider, or you can check on the LNB abe. The vaue is between 5000 and Sometimes the parameters may change; it is advisabe to check through for the updated sateite parameters Outputs Program Setting In this interface, user can view and configure the decoding output program parameters, incuding: Program, Video, Audio and Subtite. PIC The device decoding output is via its CVBS, Component or HDMI output ports. 24

26 For each time ony one program can be set to decoding output. The parameters set in Program Setup interface work for a seected program. ² PROGRAM: This interface, a the programs received wi be isted in Source Seect region. By changing the program s operation, you can determine whether to transmit the program or appoint a CI Sot to descrambe the scrambed programs. PIC If the input signa is not ocked and searched, the program section shows empty. User cannot do any setup at the moment. ² VIDEO: Here, you can configure the video parameter, as foows: PIC o VIDEO STANDARD: in this item, you can seect video standard incuding Auto, SECAM, NTSC, PAL-N, PAL-M and PAL. o Aspect Radio Conversion: you had the options to seect from various aspect ratios as foows: Auto, 16:9 LetterBox, 16:9 Pan and Scan, 4:3 LetterBox, and 4:3 Pan and Scan. o Output Video Resoution: you can choose from the foowing video formats (resoution) for appying to the decoding output program: Auto / 480i / 576i / 720p50 / 720p59 / 720p60 / 1080i50 / 1080i59 / 1080i60. Fai Mode The decoder output video resoution shoud meet with the monitor resoution setting to avoid and dispay issue. 25

27 The video supports Doby 2.1 channe downmix decoding output and 5.1 channe passthrough processing. ² Audio: In this section, you can configure the information of Audio, as foows: PIC o AUDIO Voume: Set the output audio eve from -63 to max. 0. o Mixer: Shows the format of audio, incuding Stereo, Left, Right, Mono and Dua. o AUDIO LANGUAGE: Seect different audio anguage if there are mutipe audio PIDs contained in the signa. ² Subtite: PIC o Subtite Standard: You can set the subtite to be EBU or DVB. EBU: The European Broadcasting Union s the word's foremost aiance of pubic service media entities DVB: It means Digita Video Broadcasting, a set of standards reating to digita teevision o Subtite Language: Here you can set the anguage of subtite from the existing 26

28 seections. The decoder can decode Cosed Caption (CEA608 /CEA708) and output from CVBS interface or passthrough through ASI and IP. Program Decryption In this section, by changing the CAM operation, you can determine whether to descrambe the program or not. Then you can press the Submit button to save your settings or cick Refresh button to refresh the screen. Options for operation: PIC o BYPASS: to transmit the program without any disposa. o CI SLOT 1 / CI SLOT 2: Common Interface sot. If the program is scrambed, you can appoint the CAM modue with CAM Card to scrambe it. Under this condition, the program is transmitted in defaut. o DELETE: any program you don t want to transmit can be forbidden by seecting this status. PID Seect In this section, you can set PID for PCR, Video, Audio, VBI and Subtiting. Then you can press the Submit button to save your settings or cick Refresh button to refresh the screen. 27

29 PIC CA In this page, user can manage the configuration setting reated to the device decryption and descrambing capabiity. PIC COMMON INTERFACE is used to interface between the pay-per-view card and the receiver. This is a defined standard that enabes the addition of Conditiona Access Modue (CAM) in a DTV receiver to adapt it to different kinds of cryptography. o CI MULTIDECYPT MODE: CombinedPMT: convert the PMTs of a seected programs together to a CAPMT and then send this CAPMT to CAM for processing. This setting is in order to et the IRD work more compianty with some specia CAMs. If the CAM can t decrypt programs normay, user can try to seect this option. MutiPMT: convert PMTs of the seected programs to corresponding CAPMT respectivey, and then send each CAPMT to CAM modue 28

30 for processing. This is the defaut setting. o CI Bitrate Mode: Set the max output bit rate of the CAM. BISS (Basic Interoperabe Scrambing System): is a sateite signa scrambing system deveoped by the European Broadcasting Union and a consortium of hardware manufacturers. There are two types: o BISS-1, transmission are protected by a 12 digit hexadecima session key that is agreed by the transmitting and receiving parties prior to transmission. The key is entered into both the encoder and decoder, this key then forms part of the encryption of the digita TV signa and any receiver with BISS-support with correct key wi decrypt the signa. o BISS-E (E for encrypted), is a variation where the decoder has stored one secret BISS-key entered by for exampe a rights hoder. This is unknown to the user of the decoder. The user is then sent a 16-digit hexadecima code, which is entered as a session key. This session key is then mathematicay combined internay to cacuate a BISS-1 key that can decrypt the signa. o BISS-E ID, an identification ID given prior to transmission and reception. Usuay a standard CAM can support Max. 72Mbit data processing uness it has instruction for higher bit rate support. Seecting a wrong CAM output bit rate wi cause video mosaic issue because the actua processed data exceeds the CAM Max handing capabiity System Loca Setting PIC In this page, you are abe to configure the foowing parameters: IP Address: Loca IP setting for connecting to the server. This IP and the management server s IP shoud be in the same section. Network Mask: Subnet Mask setting for connecting to the server. It shoud be 29

31 the same as management server: Gateway: Gateway setting for connecting to the server. It shoud be the same as the management server. Trap IP Address1: This IP shoud be the same as the monitoring server s IP. After correct setup, the IRD wi pass the aarming and running information to the monitoring server. Trap IP Address2: This IP shoud be the same as the monitoring server s IP. After correct setup, the IRD wi pass the aarming and running information to the monitoring server. Language: seect the required anguage from these options. There are 4 defaut options: auto, Engish, Russia, Chinese. Mac Address: Here shows the MAC address of the device. The MAC address is fixed and not editabe. Import/Export Aarms setting PIC PIC In this section, you can set the aarm information to monitor the device and signa. After 30

32 setting the Aarm Mask on, the GPI item wi be optiona. If you set the GPI on, when there are LNB Disconnect, Signa unocked, CAM error, decoder faiure, ASI output ost error, the aarm information wi be sent out via GPI. User Management PIC Change Password: When choose this button, you are abe to change the password with a new one. But you shoud enter the od password firsty. Change Username: Here, you can change the existed username to a new one. Create a User: The device aows you to add up to 10 new users to operate the device. You can set the new username and password after seect Create a User button. Deete a User: By seecting this section, you are abe to deete the user account from the existing account. If the user account is deeted, the user wi have no access to the device any more. Upgrade PIC Cick Browse button, then you can seect the upgrade fie, and cick Upgrade button to start 31

33 the upgrade. If succeed, restart the device and it wi oad the new version License PIC Log PIC Here, you can get and import the og of the device for further anaysis. And by cicking the CearLog button, you are abe to cear the redundancy og data. LogOut PIC If you have finished your operation, you can ogout the management system by cicking this button. Reboot PIC Operation Verification This section briefy describes some simpe verification/debugging on the device after configuring the parameters of the device. 32

34 3.5.1 Signa Reception Verification Precondition: a. For tuner input test: sateite signa is ready and strong. b. For ASI input test: ASI signa source equipment can stream out ASI signa. The configuration of IRD: The items need to be checked are isted in the foowing tabe. Items Method Modify the signa reception Inputs -> Source seect menu mode (Through the front pane to seect from ASI or Tuner (Front pane modification) which matches your current input signa). Modify the signa reception Login WEB UI to seect correct input source in mode Inputs->Source Seect configuration page. (Modification through (Refer to Figure 3.4 of this manua) WEB) Make sure the signa is we connected to the right interfaces: 1. Whether the RF signa is connected to the tuner input. Signa Connection 2. Whether the ASI source is connected ASI Input. 3. Whether the device has been connected to management network through the device Management port. Verification Resut Once the signa source is propery connected and the parameters based on the input is accuratey configured, front pane LOCK indicator wi ights up in GREEN, indicating that the signa reception is norma Descrambing Function Verification Precondition: a.
