Pupils are not expected to produce faultless English: To achieve points, a pupil should write a cohesive text which successfully communicates all three parts of the message (weather and clothes, plan for the first weekend, idea for a present) and contains only few minor errors. Points CONTENT All content elements covered with some detail. Message clearly communicated to reader. 4 (Criteria from and ) All content elements mentioned. Message communicated successfully, on the whole. OR One content element omitted but others clearly communicated. 2 (Criteria from and ) Little relevant content. Message requires excessive effort by the reader. 0 Totally irrelevant. Points (x2) LANGUAGE There are almost no errors in the text. Minor errors may occur when attempting more complex language. 4 There are some minor, but almost no major errors. 2 There are several minor, and few major errors, but they do not impede communication. There are many minor and several major errors, which distract the reader and may obscure communication at times. Frequent errors which obscure communication; little evidence of language control. 0 Totally incomprehensible. Pupils are not penalised if they write more than 60 words. If pupils use less than 4 words, they automatically lose point out of in the language section. If they write less than 0 words, they automatically lose 2 points out of in the language section. Scripts whose content marks are 0 must not be marked for the other category (language). Jahrgangsstufentest Englisch 202 Lehrerblatt Seite 2 von
3 LISTENING: TAPESCRIPT Task A: Oh, you ve got a new one. B: Yes, I got it for my birthday. It s very nice. I can download songs on it and listen to them wherever I am. I can also download texts, even complete books. And I can play a number of games with it. A: Has it got a radio, too? B: Yes, of course. I can even watch films with it. 2 A: and then we spent a few days in the south. B: Why did you go there? A: You know, my husband Mike is a teacher. He was there for a two-day conference. In the mornings I did some sightseeing in town. After lunch I went shopping. And after Mike s conference we went on a twoday round trip in our car. A: You look a bit tired. B: Yes, we came home at four in the morning. A: Oh, dear. Did you go to a party? B: No, we went to the event in the stadium. It was fantastic. There were more than three thousand people there. We all had a good time. A: Wasn t it very loud? B: Well, after a few minutes, it wasn t a problem. They were a lot better than on CD. And I got an autograph of my favourite singer. 4 A: And what did you do yesterday evening? B: Well, we wanted to go to the Long Night at the Museum but Linda didn t feel very well. So we spent the evening at home. There was something good on Channel 4. A: What was it about? B: It was a programme about South Africa. I liked it very much. But Linda wasn t very interested. She started to read the newspaper. A: What have you got in that bag? B: Oh, I ve just bought the bestseller The Eagle of the Ninth. A: Oh, really? You know, they also made a film of it. B: I ve heard about it but I love sitting on the sofa reading a good paperback. And so I went to WHSmith s to get the printed version. 4 Task Man: Hey! Hi, dad! What was school like? It was okay. Geography was good! We learnt about the planets of our solar system. Interesting! So, how many do we have? Eight. Eight? No, now we have 9! The ninth is the PLANET CINEMA. Yes, there is a new planet and you must - absolutely - come and see it. You will find the new PLANET CINEMA at 67 Station Road in Brighton in your solar system. All day long we show the newest films. We use the IMAX film system, which is the largest and most exciting film format in the world with crystal clear images, ten times larger than the traditional cinema format. Each of our nine show rooms has a different style, for example, you can enjoy love stories sitting on a lake, detective stories in the old town of London, science fiction films in a space ship and so on On top of that, we have a restaurant, snack bars and a small casino where you can play all sorts of PC-games. Next Saturday the first 00 visitors will get as much popcorn as they can eat and, of course, a free cinema ticket. So jump into your spaceship or walk here and see us!
