2 Topic: WW 2 Geography Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural History Locate the world s countries, using maps to focus on Europe (including the location of Russia) and concentrating on environmental regions, key physical and human characteristics, countries, and major cities. The local environment, Studland, Portland, Weymouth, and its role in World War 2. Map reading skills. Comparing maps from 1940s with today and identifying physical changes to the local environment. Identify why Studland was chosen as a practice site for D-Day. Nothe Forte visit. Music Compositional work based on wartime poetry (percussion) Graphic scores based on 'The Blitz' Spiritual: How can we show respect to others' thoughts and beliefs? Moral: Rise of Nazism Discrimination links with contemporary events The Holocaust why were the Jews and other minority groups picked out? Social: Living conditions, refugee camps, charity work Has the war helped us live in a fairer more equal society? Rationing and the impact upon healthy eating and nutrition Changing roles of the family and women Use of propaganda and persuasive techniques Understand the main reasons for the outbreak of World War Two. Learn the chronology of the main events and understand the key factors that influenced the outcome of the war. Identify the key Leaders and the main Axis and Allied countries. Investigate life as an evacuee, rationing, changes to roles of women and family in the 1940s. Learn about the characteristic features of the Bltz The Holocaust Understand and identify the impact of the war on post-war society. Research the changing technology of war.
