ICT use different software to create a simple stop motion animations to retell the story. use on screen control software to plan, create and run a simple set of instructions to make lights flash. create a simple robot, link it to the programme and run it. evaluate their design for effectiveness. Music listen to Saint-Saen saquarium from Carnival of the Animals and Science group materials based on their properties. learn about different solids, liquids and gases. learn that some materials can change state when they are heated or cooled. investigate temperature by using thermometers. investigate the temperature at which different solids melt. Year Four Spring Term Rainbow Fish During this topic, children will: identify which instruments have been used to create the sounds. create a graphic score to represent an aquarium. Drama explore the dramatic elements that create mood and atmosphere to create a short scene based on the rainbow fish.

Year Four-Spring Term - Hola Hola During this topic, children will: ICT collect class data on holiday destinations and enter into excel. use basic formula to show how many people were surveyed. create a graph to show the data they have collected Science learn the terms of evaporation and condensation and know that matter can change state. Art recognise the style of Miroand identify the colours used predominantly in his work. understand the idea of automatic painting used by Miro. create their own piece of art in the style of Miro. Drama devise a scene from a given stimuli, choosing appropriate vocabulary and movements to match the situation they have been given. Music recognise the features of traditional Spanish music and identify the rhythms and instruments which are used. recognise and play along with the traditional Spanish song La Cucaracha learn how to play a pitched instrument accurately by following note cards to create the tune.

3 Year Four-Autumn Term - Ancient World -Egypt During this topic, children will: History research Howard Carter and learn about the artefacts found in Tutankhamen's tomb. learn about when and where the ancient Egyptians lived, what survived and what it tells us about the past. learn that the pyramids are burial sites for important Egyptians. identify the location of the Nile and compare it to the Thames. learn that the Rosetta stone unlocked the ancient Egyptian language of hieroglyphics learn about mummification and their beliefs about the journey to the afterlife. identify some of the Gods worshipped by the Egyptians Art create new colours by mixing two paints together. learn that different colours can create mood through experimenting with shade and create a colour wash. create a mosaic effect and add silhouettes to their colour wash. DT construct a bridge by joining and combining materials. create 3D shapes from paper and investigate their strength. create pyramids using construction kits or nets. ICT record sound and overlay images of what Howard Carter found in the tomb with a voice recording. Music learn that music is structured into sections in pop music or movements in classical music. create a piece of music in groups with a defined structure, record as a score and perform. Science know that sounds are made by something vibrating and that sounds travel through a medium to the ear. learn about pitch and volume and the strength and shape of the vibrations learn that sounds get fainter as the distance from the sounds source increases. investigate which material is best for muffling sound. Solve problems involving increasingly harder fractions to calculate quantities, and fractions to divide quantities, including non-unit fractions where the answer is a whole number Compare and classify geometric shapes, including quadrilaterals and triangles, based on their properties and sizes. Recognise and write decimal equivalents of any number of tenths or hundredths. Recognise and write decimal equivalents to 14, 12 and 34 Find the effect of dividing a one or two digit number by 10 or 100, identifying the value of the digits in the answer as ones, tenths and hundredths Compare numbers with the same number of decimal places up to two decimal places.
