13 Arunima Sinha Arunima Sinha is a famous national level volleyball player from Uttar Pradesh who became the first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest. In 2011, an unforeseen incident took place in her life, which changed her life altogether. She describes the event as her darkest hour in which she was pushed out of a moving train by aging of robbers. I turned my artificial leg into my strength and stubbornly chose the most difficult sport for myself, she says about her joining the Eco Everest expedition group where she got training under Bachendri Pal. Many a time, she was advised to give up climbing. But she stoically refused it and continued her journey with high spirits and positive thoughts. Ms. Sinha is an inspiration for all those who give up on their lives due to small obstacles. She has proved that a strong determination is more important than a strong body. By Atmana M. S., VIII A

18 PLEASURE OF READING Reading makes a man full says Bacon. It is an important part of education. An illiterate man cannot include in reading. But an educated person cannot avoid reading. I t is the food for the the mind. The advantages of reading are many. It first of all nourishes the mind. The mind grows well by means of regular reading. It entertains instructs and elevates the mind. Hence it is a mirror reflecting our culture, learning and mental development. Even our personality and intelligence are determined by the habit of reading. Reading is a good habit and it vary from person to person. They include newspapers, books and periodicals, journals, guide, references etc. There are books and books.
