presents : très très très A graphic manipulation show using geometrical objects
PIRYOKOPI is a group of 4 manipulators passionate about object manipulation, kinetic art, mechanisms of all kinds and the ways to represent them in performing arts. hip-hop inspired dance styles: both mechanical (popping, robot, tutting...) and more organic (windstyle, waving, liquid...). 4 manipulators with unique styles and distinct backgrounds in object manipulation. It is this plurality of styles along with a shared obsession with object manipulation that has brought us together. Graphic manipulation. Graphism is the art of drawing shapes and pictures within the framework of a shared language. Graphic manipulation is the drawing of patterns in space by the body and the object. The movements of the body-object build shapes and paths. These visual circuits are traced in the three dimensions of the stage and in time. Each gesture is designed to emphasize and offer meaning to the movements traced in space. The intention of the artist is expressed via the lines and shapes that the body-object writes in space. Like all writing, this line must be readable for the audience. If it is calculated by the transmitter-artist and interpreted by the receiver-audience, then there is genuine communication between them. I like the words of the juggler Emmanuel Perez, who sums up graphic juggling or graphic manipulation in a very simple and condensed way: it is intentional shaping of space. January Pich
Creation : Spread over the course of 5 years, the creation took 42 weeks of exploring, testing and developing the possibilities of each object, their geometry and their dynamics in order to develop new techniques, new interactions between manipulators and a new common language within the group. The high expectations put in "manipulating together" in terms of the precision of movements, of timing and of presence are what bring out the personalities of each manipulator. It's in their relationship with object manipulation that we understand who they are. Piryokopi built its artistic project first and foremost around graphic manipulation, but also around the evolution of the members' personalities through manipulation. With these two ideas, Piryokopi created "très très très".
très très très...(which in French means Very Very Very), is a four-man graphic manipulation show using a wide array of geometrical objects (balls, cigar boxes, batons, buugengs and hoops). It mixes object manipulation with "graphic" hip hop dance, both of which share a common visual language. The show will also, through touches of self-deprication, question a human's tendency towards obsession and fixation. The objects are moved and manipulated in space to trace ephemeral drawings, trajectories, dynamics and mecanisms. The public is presented with an impactful visual language which the characters use to communicate moods and atmospheres. On stage, the four characters live for their objects and their movement. Their social relationship is determined by the degree of their obsession, causing phases of extreme individual meticulousness or shared graphical elation. The objects resonate with the body's movements, be they dancing or static, flexible or rigid, and with each person's personality and touch of madness. Object manipulation is a form of communication between the characters, but also a way to escape and isolate oneself. The public is invited to dive into an aesthetically expressive and poetic ambiance, meticulously constructed by four object manipulators whose passion brings them dangerously close to obsession.
Scenography: We opted for an aesthetically refined atmosphere where the crystal, metal and wooden objects structure and organize the space in which the bodies can move. Nothing but a table, four chairs and the geometrical objects, which are gradually discovered as the show progresses. The table is where the characters meet on a human level to talk, share ideas or play games. Scenographically, this creates a rapid immersion into the pictorial universe of très très très. Light and sound creation Music specifically composed for the show is mixed in with pre-existing tracks and phases of silence to complement the rhythms and the visuals of the show. They reinforce the organic or inert qualities of each phase. Likewise, the light creation is above all at the service of the aesthetics of the objects, as well as the states and moods of the manipulators.
- duration: 1h - for all publics / all countries / without words - frontal audience, indoors - estimated public size: 500 people Piryokopi is the first collective to develops a long-format graphic manipulation show.
