4 Speaking Focus Conversation structure fter greeting a person, it is usual to ask a question to start a conversation. The other person usually answers the question and adds some more information, then asks his or her own question. This is called the Pattern of Friendly Conversation : (sk, nswer, dd). sk nswer/dd sk nswer/dd Put a box around the questions, circle the answers and underline the extra information in the following conversation. CD 08 : How are you? : Fine, thanks, and you? : Good. I have been wondering; do you live near the university? : Yes, I do. I live in an apartment near Main Street. Do you live nearby, too? : No, I live quite far away. I live out by the airport. It takes me 30 minutes to get here every day. So, do you walk to school? : Yes, I do. Well, I have to go. Nice talking to you. C Use the dialogue to ask two partners where each person lives. 6 Open Practice Use markers and go from the start to the finish of the game. Use a coin to decide whether to move one or two spaces.
