Lovereading4kids Reader reviews of Atticus Claw Breaks the Law by Jennifer Gray Below are the complete reviews, written by Lovereading4kids members. Bethany Urquhart, age 8 Atticus is funny because he is very sneaky. Mrs Tucker is my favourite character because she is unpredictable. The story has a good plot, it made sense and helped you to guess what was going to happen. There was a good twist at the end of the story. I couldn t put it down, it was like there was glue on the spine! Good for ages 6 and up, it is full of mystery so boys will like it as well. Brodie Greenslade, age 8 An exciting tale of a cat, some jewellery thieves and an Inspector called Cheddar. Funny, thrilling and definitely recommended! Atticus Claw Breaks the Law is a thrilling story about Atticus Claw the Worlds Greatest Cat Burglar! Atticus receives a letter from the fiendish Jimmy Magpie and his cronies Thug and Slasher. Jimmy wants Atticus to join their gang and help them to steal all the shiny things from the small town Littleton-on-Sea. They want watches and shiny badges but most of all they want jewels! Atticus agrees and starts to look for a temporary home in the town but when he moves in with Inspector Cheddar and the Cheddar family he begins to wonder whether being in Jimmy's gang is such a good idea.
Tempted by the promise of oodles of sardines, Atticus decides that, yes, he will steal and thieve but soon his conscience bothers him and he starts to return the stolen items. The rest of the gang are angry and try to frame Atticus for the thefts. With the police after him, Atticus doesn't stand a chance alone but his adoptive family are there to help and Atticus sees a chance to put things right when he discovers that Jimmy and the gang are plotting to steal a priceless tiara. Can Atticus put his past behind him and save the day? I liked Atticus Claw Breaks the Law because it was fun and exciting and had great characters especially the brilliant Atticus Grammaticus Cattypuss Claw! It was very funny in some parts and I would like to read other Atticus Claw books now. Jessica Cobbin, age 7 Atticus is a really cool cat. His full name is Atticus Grammaticus Cattypus Claw, and he is the best burglar around. He has to work for some horrible magpies stealing jewellry. This is a really good book to read and I think everyone will love it. I wish that I could have a cat like Atticus. Holly Wilkins, age 10 You can't put it down! You always want to turn the page to find out what happens next. Funny, interesting and mysterious. One of my favourite books. You must read this book! It is about a cat called Atticus, who is sent a message in a bottle from a magpie. It tells him to come to a pier... Read this amazing book to find out what happens next. I give this book 5 out of 5. Harry Gray, age 7 We really enjoyed this book especially all the characters and their names! My five year old brother enjoyed it too.
I liked the names of the characters like Inspector Cheddar and Atticus Granmaticus Cattyouss Claw. The book made me and my brother laugh lots of times and we were cheering for Atticus by the end. We also liked Chicken Mission by the same author. Gabriel Phelan, age 10 An extremely enjoyable and funny read with an amazing feline called Atticus Claw. Atticus Claw is a cat thief, who is always getting himself into mischief. The story starts when Atticus receives a mysterious letter, in the letter it tells him to come to Littleton -On-Sea on Tuesday at 11:15. He sets of on his mysterious adventure and his life completely changes forever. This is a detective story with a twist and if you love solving mysteries, you will enjoy this book. I really enjoyed this book because it is quite funny and very exciting. My favourite part is in the jewellery show when the evil magpies swoop into the show to steal all the valuables because it was funny when Professor Cheddar kicked the Mayor of Bigworth up the bottom by accident. This story has loads of twists and turns and it will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a great book. I rate this book 10 out of 10. James Galbraith, age 6 Funny, mysterious and exciting not to be missed. Atticus Claw gets an anonymous letter from an evil magpies named Jimmy, Thug and Slasher. Atticus Claw goes over seas to reach the place he had been requested to attend, this place was called Littleton-on-Sea. The magpies wanted Atticus to steal all the jewels at Littleton on sea after the magpies experience a death within their group. I liked Callie and Michael because they stand up for Atticus and know that the magpies are behind Atticus' wrong doing. I would recommend this book to people who like reading a book that will make them laugh out loud.
Sam Harper, age 11 A really funny and exciting book. Atticus Claw Breaks the Law is purrfect! Atticus Grammaticus Cattypuss Claw is a very curious cat who loves solving a good mystery so, when he receives an anonymous note telling him to go to Littleton-on-Sea for a secret meeting, he can t resist. Jimmy, Thug and Slasher Magpie hate humans. Too many of their friends have been squashed by cars and now it s time for them to get their revenge, with the help of Atticus. They hire the cat burglar to help them to steal all of the shiny things in the village of Littleton-on-Sea and with a reward of 6 sardines for each item he steals Atticus is in heaven. He finds a family to adopt, the Cheddars. Living with the local police inspector, his wife and children might be too close for comfort for some burglars but not Atticus. He thinks that there s no better place to hide from the Law, than right under it s nose! Everything seems to be going to plan but is a life of crime really what Atticus wants? I loved Atticus Claw Breaks the Law. The villainous magpies were really silly and very funny. Atticus is the purrfect clever cat and a great character. I can t wait to read more of his exploits! Faye Dawson, age 8 Ever wondered the truth about what the animals around you are thinking? Read on to find out... I found this book fun to read, because the main characters were animals. It made me wonder what the world would be like if cats and birds could really chat and make plans together. I enjoyed the pace of the book and the fact that sometimes the adults got confused and the children were able to help out. Noah Hall, age 9 Atticus, the world's greatest cat burglar is hired by Jimmy the Magpie to steal all the jewels in Littleton-on-Sea. Good characters and great story. This is my first Atticus Claw book. Atticus is a cat who has a red handkerchief tied round his neck and a chewed ear. But the most important thing about him is that he is the world s greatest cat burglar. Atticus is hired by Jimmy (an evil magpie villain) to steal all the jewels in Littleton-on-Sea. Especially the Toffly s
Tiara. Atticus moves in with the Cheddars, a family of great people, and starts to wonder if a life of crime is for him. Mr Cheddar is a policeman but his boss puts him on traffic duty most of the time because he hasn t caught the burglar who is Atticus. My favourite character in the book is Mrs Tucker, who looks after the kids. She is really funny and is determined to do anything the children ask even free Atticus from prison! I would definitely recommend this book. I would like to read more Atticus Claw books. Kenya Hector, age 7 This book is really great I love it so much I want to read it over and over again because it was sometimes a bit funny and I kept on laughing very much. This book is really amazing, brilliant and very great. Every time I read about 5 pages I wanted to read about 16 more pages because it was a amazing story book. I never wanted to finish the book because all of the funny things that happened.this book is the silliest book I have ever read in my whole entire life Isaac East, age 8 Top score for Atticus Claw Breaks the Law the sneakiest cat in town. Do you like villainous adventure stories? Do you like books about funny animals? If so here s your perfect book. Meet the meanest magpies ever, the best cat burglar in the world and the Cheddars! Will Atticus save the day or will the magpies get there first? This is a brilliant Adventure story packed with excitement. This book was so good I never wanted to put this book down and stop turning the action packed pages! I would recommend this book to adventure lovers aged 6-9. I think boys and girls will like this book. Ruma Pierre, age 8 I loved Atticus Claws Breaks the Law because I absolutely could not put it down. Also I just got into it as I started reading it. The story is about Atticus working for the magpies who ask him to burgle houses. After a while Atticus questions if it s the right thing to do.
My favourite character is Atticus Grammaticus Cattypuss Claw because he is really brave and adventurous and he made the story exciting. He is also the main character. I recommend this book to my friends as I want them to see how exciting it is to read.
