1 LIVE THEATRE WORKSHOP MAINSTAGE SEASON TICKETS
2 A NOTE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR I couldn't be more thrilled to invite you to share in Live Theatre Workshop's 27th year of offering great theatre to the Tucson-area community. Our season has been specifically selected for Southern Arizona audiences of all ages and backgrounds, in hopes of bringing us together under one roof to share in the magic of live theatre. The nine plays offered this year are united by distinct, compelling themes: the complexities of family relationships, the nature of love and passion, the exciting sources of artistic inspiration and, as always, the season is infused with tremendous amounts of humor. I am delighted by this year's dynamic programming and know these plays will encourage us to pause, reflect, enjoy, and re-energize. On behalf of Live Theatre Workshop s community of immensely talented artists and staff, I invite you to support our work by purchasing Mainstage season tickets and making a charitable contribution. Your patronage enables us to offer a body of work with high theatrical standards and production values, while sustaining our incredibly robust education and outreach programs for children ages Thank you in advance for supporting Live Theatre Workshop and the arts in Tucson. We couldn t do what we do without you, our wonderful theatre lovers and patrons. - Sabian Trout, Artistic Director
3 JUNE 14 - JULY 21, 2018 RED, WHITE, AND TUNA by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard They re Back, Y all! We are proud to present the third in this series of hilarious plays, set in the fictional town of Tuna, the third-smallest town in the state of Texas. Keith Wick and Stephen Frankenfield play the entire cast of more than 20 eccentric male and female characters of various ages. This silly comedy is an affectionate and satirical commentary on small-town, Southern life and attitudes. Alongside Tuna s perennial favorite characters, new Tuna residents burst into the 4th of July Tuna High School Class Reunion, setting the stage for a show full of fireworks and fun. 4 JULY 26 - AUGUST 25, 2018 THE EFFECT by Lucy Prebble I can't tell the difference between who I am and a side effect. Connie and Tristan can t hide how they feel around each other: Hearts thumping, sleepless nights, and a slightly ill excitement. They ve fallen for one another, and fallen hard unless their chemistry is a side-effect of an antidepressant they re taking as clinical trial participants. The trial s supervising doctors must untangle the ethical implications of Connie and Tristan's illicit relationship. A passionate and provocative look at the mysteries of attraction. Contains Adult Language and Themes. Thursday: 7/26, 8/2, 8/9, 8/16, 8/23 Friday: 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, 8/17, 8/24 Saturday: 7/28, 8/4, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25 Sunday: 7/29, 8/5, 8/12, 8/19

6 OCTOBER 11 - NOVEMBER 17, 2018 DEATH BY DESIGN by Rob Urbinati A mix of Noël Coward wit and Agatha Christie plot. Set in an English country manor in 1932, playwright Edward Bennet and his wife, the actress Sorel Bennett, flee London and head to Cookham after a disastrous opening night. Their quiet weekend dissolves as various guests arrive unexpectedly, each with a long-held secret. When one of the guests is murdered, it s left to Bridgit, the feisty Irish maid with a macabre interest in homicide, to solve the crime. This play is more than an homage it's a new classic. But don t expect this play to unlock the mystery to designing the perfect murder unless the weapon of choice is laughter. 8 JANUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 16, 2019 STAGE KISS by Sarah Ruhl Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with an amorous history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the onstage love story follows them offstage. A charming farce about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss or when actors share a real one. Sarah Ruhl delivers a brilliant comedy that aims for big laughs and hits its target.
