And following fall is my favorite holiday of all: Christmas! Let DLT get YOU in the festive mood with our Christmas show this November. "Miracle on 34th Street" is one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time. Join us for some seasonal entertainment and meet some new faces on the stage as we have some debuts in this cast of 34 people and also among the crew. I think you will leave the theater telling your friends this is a show you just gotta see! We need your support in so many ways. Not only do we treasure you sitting in the audience encouraging us with applause but also with your financial treasure. It literally costs thousands of dollars to put on every performance as our expenses include space rental, royalties, scripts, costumes, set, props, and more. We cannot do it without our loyal supporters. You are assisting us to keep the LIVE arts here on the local stage. Don t forget to tell EVERYONE how awesome our live performances are each time we step on stage! Besides your treasure of money we need your time and talents, too! We always need help with things off-stage. That means sewing, painting, hammering, ushering, box office, etc, etc. The list goes on. Get involved and make some new friends. You won t be sorry! I always say to those who work with us regularly: It is not what you know but who you know has what you need [to borrow]. It is truly a scavenger hunt for every show to find each intricate prop, set piece or costume. Sometimes we remake costumes or set pieces to fit and sometimes we have a perfect find. Be a part of the adventure - call or us to say I want to come and play! I look forward to Children's Theater Experience seeing all of you at the next show and the rest of the season! Performances are planned for elementary school audiences at Empire, Comanche, Woodrow Wilson, Marlow, Plato, Emerson, & Horace Mann through the months of November and December. Thank you to some great volunteers for creating this theater experience for elementary school children. 2 AUDITION CALL for December BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AUDITIONS Auditions at Hodgson Music (address is 812 W. Walnut) Fri Dec 4th 6-9 pm - or -Sat Dec 5th 9am-12noon Call backs on Tuesday Dec 8th 6-7 p.m. Dance auditions at First Baptist Church, Duncan followed by vocal auditions from 7-10 at Hodsgon Music Studio. Those cast will have a mandatory read and sing through on Dec 17th at 7:00 pm. Those who are serious about an audition please bring bars of sheet music (approx 1 min) in the correct key and properly marked. An accompanist will be provided. If you do not have sheet music, please bring a karaoke track on a CD to sing with (no a capella auditions will be accepted). An auxiliary cord (for iphones/ ipods) will be provided. Those auditioning for the role of Belle, The Beast, or Gaston must be willing to engage in a full on kiss. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian with them to sign consent. For questions please call Gina Tea With Beauty In February, DLT is offering a special event for those who love Belle from "Beauty and the Beast". Call Gina if you would like to book your tea party time with Belle on February 6th. The tea will be held out at The Vine and The Fig Tree on Highway 7. Spots will fill up fast so book early. COSTUME RENTALS Are you looking for a spectacular costume for a murder/mystery dinner? A Santa or elf suit? Duncan Little Theatre has a costume shop full of wonderful costumes for all ages and all holidays. Be a French maid for Valentine's Day, or a leprechaun for St. Patrick's day. Rental fees vary per costume. Have more questions or would like to book an appointment, please call Nicole at (580) The renovation of DLT's Main Street office/audition hall/costume shop is well under way. The new roof was installed the last week of August at a cost of $19,450. No more leaks! No more costume damage! No more interior falling plaster due to water damage. The ceiling inside the building has been removed and moldy tiles, trim boards and some studs have been torn out. New shelving and clothing racks have been installed throughout the building. No more overcrowding of tipsy, too tall racks. Three dressing rooms have been built in the old office space and the new office space is located by the back stairwell on the ground floor. New lighting throughout the building brightened things up immensely. DLT still has to paint new walls and some shelves, install new signage on Main Street and retrieve all the items from storage. The goal is to have everything done by Christmas. Naturally, the renovations cost money. If you love DLT, please make a donation to this project. Make a note on your check that the donation is for the renovation. Remember that DLT is a 501(c)3 non-profit so all donations are tax deductible. DLT's actual competition piece has not been selected yet but will be worth watching. In July OCTA presented DLT with an Excellence in Theatre Award for being one of the longest running community theater groups in the USA. DLT has been entertaining Duncan area residents for over 60 years. DLT could not offer 5 plays per season without the help of our grantors and sponsors such as The Oklahoma Arts Council, the Inasmuch Foundation, the Kerr Foundation, and the Simmons Center Community Spirit Awards.!3
