5 Director s Notes Wait Until Dark was first performed in 1966 at the Ethel Barrymore Theater. Within the next eleven months, it transferred to the Shubert, the George Abbott, and the Music Box Theatres before it ended its run of 374 performances. The original cast included Lee Remick, Robert Duvall, and Mitchell Ryan. Remick was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. Warner Bros.-Seven Arts purchased the film rights in 1966 soon after the play's Broadway premiere; the film, directed by Terence Young with a screenplay by Robert Carrington and Jane Howard-Carrington and a score by Henry Mancini, premiered on October 26, It starred Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard Crenna, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Jack Weston and was produced by Hepburn's thenhusband Mel Ferrer. In an effort to duplicate the suspense on screen, movie theaters dimmed their lights to their legal limits, then turned off one by one until each light on-screen was shattered, resulting in the theater being plunged into complete darkness. You will experience a small portion of that suspense today in Stagecoach Players production of Wait Until Dark. So sit back and relax. Let the suspense take you for a ride back in time. We hope you enjoy our production of Wait Until Dark. Special Thanks Sycamore United Methodist Church Randy's Lock Service (Randy Harvey) Expert Lock & Safe Inc. 6 Greenroom Don Austin (Sgt. Carlino) Don is happy to be back at Stage Coach Theater. Some of Don's favorite rolls include the Cat in Seussical, Henry Drummond in Inherit the Wind, The King in The King and I, and Joe in All My Sons. When Don is not painting houses, he enjoys relaxing with a good book or crossword puzzle. Thanks to the cast and wonderful people who made this performance possible. David W. Booth (Harry Roat Jr.) David is on the faculty and has served as the marketing director for the NIU School of Theatre and Dance since He holds a MS degree from NIU in organizational development and has studied with the MFA in directing program at the School of Theatre and Dance. Recent directing credits include SCP s first Black Box Production of Seeking Flight (2011), November (2010), and Heaven Can Wait (2007).
7 Emma Carpenter (Gloria) Emma is 10 years old and just started 5th grade. She is excited to play the part of Gloria. Emma s first role was as an Oompa Loompa in the CCT production of Willie Wonka. This year she has had numerous opportunities to sing in the DeKalb area. After performing the song On My Own from the Broadway musical, Les Miserable, at a local talent show, she was selected to perform at this year s Kish-Fest. She sang a selection of songs including, My New Philosophy, from the Tony Awardwinning play; You're a Good Man - Charlie Brown. Every year, Emma attends a "Triple Threat" camp in Tennessee, which focuses on music, acting and dance. When she s not working on being a student and performing, she also loves to play soccer. Check her out on YouTube! She wants to thank Jennifer for this opportunity. Shela Lahey (Susy Hendrix) Shela is thrilled to be returning to the SCP stage for her 4th production. She was seen previously as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof; Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol; and Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Other favorite roles have been Mama Morton in Chicago and Aldonza in Man of La Mancha. Shela recently premiered her passionate creation and film production, Sycamore, the Documentary if you haven't seen it you must! Love to Quinn and Shane. To Wills ILYMDWP. Karen would like to thank her mom and work family for their support. Brian Maxfield (Patrolman 2) Brian is very excited to be in his fourth SCP production. His first roll was Pap Finn in Big River. Brian was in Suessical and The Lone Ranger Radio Show. Now that Brian is retired, he will probably be seen at the new season s auditions. Brian would like to thank his family for their undying support throughout the years.
