3 Export Price Index in Iran Ordibehesht 1387 (1376 = 100) The Export Price Index (XPI) went up 3.7 percent in Ordibehesht Showing the index point of 644.7, the XPI was 23.0 percent higher than the similar month in During the first two months of the current Iranian year, the XPI increased 22.4 percent compared to the similar period in The XPI rose 17.1 percent during the last twelve months leading to Ordibehesht 1387 compared with the similar preceding period. The 3.7 percent advance in the XPI, in Ordibehesht 1387, was mainly due to some increases of 30.9 percent in the hot coil iron price index, 7.0 percent in the propane price index, 6.5 percent in the butane price index, 4.6 percent in the benzene price index, 1.4 percent in the hand-woven carpet price index, 2.2 percent in the copper price index, 1.5 percent in the pistachio price index, 14.1 percent in the plywood and chipboard price index, 4.8 percent in the tar price index, 32.0 percent in the resins and natural gums price index, 18.5 percent in the paraffin wax, 8.1 percent in the date price index, 6.2 percent in the glazed tile and ceramic price index, 1.5 percent in the footwear price index, 0.9 percent in the sheep assorted casing price index, 1.4 percent in the macaroni price index, 3.8 percent in the raisin price During the reported period compared to the previous month, the exchange rates of Dollar and Euro increased 1.4 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively. 1

4 index, 0.7 percent in the clothing price index and 1.0 percent in the ethylene and propylene price index. In this month, the decline in the index prices of zinc-oxide concentrate, wire and cable, processed sheep skins and saffran were considerable. In Ordibehesht 1387 compared to the similar month of the previous year, there were some increases of 27.6 percent in the animal products group index, 10.0 percent in the vegetable products group index, 57.8 percent in the animal or vegetable fats and oils group index, 22.4 percent in the prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco group index, 24.6 percent in the mineral products group index, 39.7 percent in the products of the chemical or allied industries group index, 1.2 percent in the plastics and articles thereof, rubber and articles thereof group index, 32.8 percent in the skins and leather and articles thereof group index, 38.1 percent in the wood and articles of wood group index, 10.6 percent in the textiles and textile articles group index, 2.9 percent in the footwear group index, 5.9 percent in the articles of stone group index, 27.8 percent in the base metals and articles of base metal group index, 1.0 percent in the machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment group index, 4.0 percent in the vehicles and associated transport equipment group index and 31.0 percent in the optical, precision and medical instruments group index. 2
